Its so painful, and as I’m typing this, my handkerchief is drenched with tears because I was once a lover of Nokia phone. My first ever Nokia phone was Nokia 3310. It fell inside hot pepper soup and it was still ringing… long lasting battery life but today Nokia is now history.

During the press conference to announce NOKIA being acquired by Microsoft, Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop ended his speech saying, “we didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost”. Upon saying that, all his management team, himself included, teared sadly.
Nokia has been a respectable company. They didn’t do anything wrong in their business, however, the world changed too fast. Their opponents were too powerful.

They missed out on learning, they missed out on changing, and thus they lost the opportunity at hand to make it big. Not only did they miss the opportunity to earn big money, they lost their chance of survival.
The message of this story is, if you don’t change, you shall be removed from the competition.

Microsoft announced the purchase of Nokia’s phone assets in September 2013 — just weeks after Steve Ballmer said he would step down — and finalized the deal in April 2014.
The total purchase price ended up as approximately $7.9 billion, according to an April 2015 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Blackberry is about facing thesame situation and I wonder how their tears will be considering the facts that WhatsApp has already given them the deadliest blow to end WhatsApp on All Blackberry phones by 2016 ending.

It’s not wrong if you don’t want to learn new things. However, if your thoughts and mindset cannot catch up with time, you will be eliminated. Nokia is now history... Who is next?

Rest in Peace! Nokia.

Maybe the same reason dinosaur is history now. The survival of the fittest in evolution applies also to businesses. You must be consistent in adaptation otherwise you will be wiped out.

They would be alive today of they had jumped on the android bandwagon.

I remember when one of their bosses said going android would be like 'giving in' . From thrn their demise was predicted

Their biggest folly was thinking they could make windows os as big as android.

Too bad

You didn't do anything wrong you say when others are porting to android , your ego didn't allow you to change . One thing that is constant in this world is change. Just check the likes of Tecno and Infinix ,they are making it big in the same industry Nokia can't compete. I feel no sorry for u, you ego kills NOKIA

''we didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost”

Only an unrepentant fool will make such comment. He need to come to terms that Nokia did something wrong, that's why they lost. Otherwise, he'll keep making more mistakes. This comment tells me no lesson learnt after all.

IPhone ke?

Your country is struggling with $30bilion budget.
Apple is worth over $200billion as of 2014

So they can make iPhone and dash if they want...

Nokia messed up.

They didn't go the android route, were too stubborn to use the UX from iphone (even if allegedly pirated like Samsung allegedly did)

I mean, things have changed in the past decade, Nokia hasn't....

Why am not surprised?

This is old news jare, and moreover Nokia is already planning on making a comeback by September when they'll be done with Microsoft deal... and advising Nokia to migrate to the Android family is suicidal as Android is totally packed with strong competitions(imagine what the likes of Samsung,HTC and others will do to them) they should better come up with a different OS that offers something similar to (or even better than) Android . sailfish OS is more advisable as it is more customisable than Android, runs Android apps, has its own different app package, is more stable than Android, and the foundation for the OS was built by Nokia and meego(though abandoned)
