Adaodogwu: Did u sit on hot water? If yes, dont anymore. If the site is partially healed and isnt inflammed ( hot, red, sore) then continue your sitz bath( warm water + dettol + salt), pat it dry and swab with savlon. Also take a lot of VitC or fruits rich in vit c to speed the healing process. I am sure the bloody discharge is over, so go easy on the panties/ trousers, let fresh breeze blow the place so that it will be dry and not moist. If it isnt healed at all and is inflammed, go to the hospital. |

Hello mama's. I know things have gotten pretty pricey and I thought I'd share some tips on some products we don't need to buy specifically for babies (and yes, that are pediatrician approved and I've tried them as well). Body wash: rather than buying baby wash (anything that has the word "baby" on it is twice the price of regular), you can use Dove Sensitive bar soap or Cetaphil bodywash. These 2 are dermatologist-recommended and formulated for people with sensitve skin and are good for babies. My 2 initial pediatricians recommended the Dove bar when Baby E had her reaction to Johnson's baby wash. I'm currently using the Dove bar from time to time as well as Aveeno and when the Aveeno finished, will switch to Dove. Dove is available everywhere for an affordable price, below is the Sensitive skin bar. Body Lotion: if you're not a fan of oils or your baby has eczema a lot, Cetaphil moisturiser or Eucerin will work. Cetaphil is very light and Eucerin is thicker. These are very mild and will do the job (no lightening of skin and for all those still mixing Funbact-A and ori, a dermatologist today made a joke about how he would end up rich in the future treating ailments because of all the mothers using it on their kids. Please stop it). Shampoo: I'm using Sebamed baby shampoo (and this is my only Sebamed product). Shampoo twice a week max. There's no need to wash hair daily unless baby has decided to start running food in her/his hair (which will happen when you start solids ). And you only need a small quantity. So your bottle of shampoo should last long. 9 Likes 1 Share

tatacherie: Molfix is good...almost as good as huggies. It doesnt leak IMO buh my friend says her baby soaks thru easily. Mine doesnt tho. I dont have an idea on the price. I was given PLENTY as gifts. Onegai, thanks for the tips. On top the ori and funbact A, is it the funbact A we should totally avoid, baby Tribotan nko? For my first child, I was advised ( not medically) to use that combo, I did and my baby maintained a fair complexion and no skin illness whatsoever. When he clocked 1, I started E45 with him, I didnt like it, maybe cos I dont like anything lotion. He became very dark and I just left him cos his father's side of the family are total blackies. So he just used my palmers cocoa butter ( the waxy one). Now my daughter was born white, very fair sef. I decided to go the coconut oil way. She is getting darker and darker, I even switched to Aveeno, her skin became rough plus she didnt get any lighter. I dont what to use to maintain her fair skin ( I dont like lotions), my conscience wont let me use Funbact A since I know better now. Any ideas? For the brother, I have finally settled on ori + coconut oil + Personal Care Cocoa butter skin lotion to get a waxy, coconutty cream. Buh I am afraid it will make the baby girl dark. 2 Likes 1 Share |

@ Beyedew, I use Sudocrem. First I rub olive oil all over her bum then Sudocrem on the affected part only. The rashes disappears in a day. Use olive oil to rub her bum all day, every day and say byebye to diaper rash ( unless you leave the poo in) 1 Like |

zaynie: Skin complexion is a matter of genes and exposure to sunlight. If parents are fair or dark, baby takes after them and there's nothing short of bleaching that will change that. Also, shea butter + coconut oil + sunshine is a recipe for tanning (a lot of Caucasians used to use that mix, the reason cocoa butter gives that evenness is because it reacts with the sun to tan the skin). But here's the thing: I'm naturally fair and I use that mix for my body lotion (I use an organic body butter) and it doesn't darken me because I don't have a lot of exposure to bright sunshine. So if your baby is constantly exposed to sunshine, he/she will get dark to certain levels. Babies are naturally going to change their skintone, sunshine or not. Those who are fair will remain fair, he dark ones will remain dark. Take a look at market women who have babies or toddlers in the sun, some of their kids are fair and others dark. Take a look at people jumping bus, same thing. Your girl may just be getting darker but she may end up lighter at the and and it won't be because of what you did, it will be genetic. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Cutienik and Zaynie, I totally get. When my siblings and I were babies, we were not fair, we were half-caste light. The thing caused marital wahala in my family (mum was abroad a lot then and village people were wondering why she was producing "oyibo" children. They had already chased her away from the marriage but my dad had to step in. Now we are medium fair to dark and some of us thankfully resemble my dad (or that fight will have continued for decades ) 8 Likes |

tatacherie:it was d first brand of diaper I used for my baby(included it in my hospital list) i'd say it's good though my baby only used 1 pack (11pcs) cos we already bought Prince n Princess n were gifted plenty plenty diapers of different brands. Luckily my baby has never had a single rash n he's 5 months now. I think it's good. 1 Like |

tatacherie: Based on what I read here on this thread, I decided to try Molfix. Well, it didn't absorb any more than Huggies (I get leaks with both when we use overnight). But i feel it's flimsier (one of the tabs pulled off when Le hubbs was changing Baby E) and I'm not crazy about it (I feel there are better diapers out there). 5 Likes |
