AFCON Qualifiers: We Won’t Fall To Egypt, Siasia Boasts
By Salifu Usman

The interim handler of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, has urged Nigerian football lovers, administrators and stakeholders to refrain from having sleepless nights over the double-head African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Egypt later this month, because his lads will not fall to the North African power-house.

The coach, who is having his second stint with the team, invited 42 players – 22 home-based professionals and 20 foreign-based professionals – to the team’s camp which opens in Abuja tomorrow as preparations for the decisive games begin.

Siasia, speaking to journalists, pointed out that the Egypt, who missed the last three editions of the African football showpiece, will be determined to return strong to prove their mettle as seven-time winners, but insisted that he is ready to ensure that they are “beaten convincingly” come March 25, 2016 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

The tactician is banking on the commitment of his lads to get the job done, though, in order to leap-frog their North African counterpart to the top of the group G standings.

Egypt presently sits atop the group with six points ahead of Nigeria, who has four points after two rounds of matches.

“We are playing at home and we must make sure that we win at home, no matter what it takes us. Egypt can’t beat us, I assure you that. So, there is no need for panic.

“I have spoken to the likes of Mikel, Moses, Odion, Iheanacho and others; they are all ready to play. They said: “Coach, we are coming to do it and play for you,” which is a good assurance. So, we want to go out there with a positive mind to make sure that we put smiles on the faces of Nigerians. I am going to give over a 100 per cent of my time to make sure that we win those two games. I am full of confidence and, as long as the boys play to instruction, we do not have anything to worry about,” he assured.

Siasia further disclosed that he has a full knowledge of six of the Egyptian players, having played against them during the African U-23 Nations Championship in Senegal last December.

“I have picked about six video tapes of the Egyptians. We have to watch them carefully and look at their pattern of play, so as to translate that into how we approach the game. That is the only way we can overcome them.

“Nigeria is blessed with so many talented footballers across the world and I know that those we are inviting for this match will give everything for the six points in both matches,” he added.

Siasia, who was appointed instead of Oliseh, who resigned his appointment last weekend, will be assisted by Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf and Alloysius Agu as goalkeeper trainer.

The first leg encounter will hold in Kaduna on March 25, while the return leg is scheduled for Alexandria on March 29.

For Pharaohs, Eagles look solid in goal

Siasia’s 43 man list has generated a lot of debate within the Nigerian football fraternity and in extension the Nigerian social media cyberspace.

Never before...well arguably, has a list elicited so much debate (you may choose to add the 2014 World Cup list to the equation) amongst Nigerians.

The number, the highest ever called up to prosecute a qualifying game, added more spice to the raging debate as to whether Siasia got it right or wrong.

Supersport.com will in the coming days dissect the team list and run the rule on the players invited for the all important back to back games against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Goalkeepers are the last line of defence (depending on what part of the pitch you are on) and so we take a look at the ‘men between the sticks’ that Samson Siasia has invited to slot it out for shirts against Egypt.

Goalkeepers: Carl Ikeme (Wolverhampton Wanderers, England) [below]; Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United, South Africa) Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Sunshine Stars); Olufemi Thomas (Enyimba FC); Emmanuel Daniel (Enugu Rangers)

It’s a no brainer that Carl Ikeme will start in goal if he stays fit. The Wolves goalkeeper has been fine form for Wolves and has been decent so far since his début against Tanzania.

He has appeared 24 times for Wolves this season in the Championship and is expected to continue in goal for Nigeria against Egypt.

Daniel Akpeyi has steadily begun to assert himself at Premier League Soccer (PSL) side Chippa United after initial struggles following his move to South Africa

The former Warri Wolves goal tender has been in and out of the national set-up since the days of Stephen Keshi and will like to use the lifeline extended to him by Siasia to prove his mettle.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa has been the de-factor number two to Carl Ikeme and was first choice goalkeeper during the ill-fated CHAN tournament in Rwanda.

He has started well with Sunshine Stars this season and is expected to challenge Daniel Akpeyi for second choice goalkeeper.

The former Flying Eagles goalkeeper is an experienced campaigner in the Nigeria Professional Football League and will give Siasia more options.

Olufemi Thomas [below] ironically was on the same team with Ezenwa at the 2007 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Canada and nine years down the line, they team up to rescue Nigeria’s Nations Cup hopes.
https://media.today.ng/main/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/femi-thomas.jpg
Thomas has been with Nigerian champions Enyimba for a while now where he has been the number one choice between the sticks for the Aba side.

He will competition alongside U-23 first choice Emmanuel Daniel who was part of the CAF U23 cup winning side.

‘Shinkut’ as Daniel is popularly called, is in the team for the experience in my reckoning.

Siasia, who lead the U23 side to victory in Senegal, has decided to have U23 players for each position in the latest squad as the U23 team prepares for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Passed Over

Dele Alampasu [below ] was a rising star who was in the last Super Eagles set up under Sunday Oliseh.
https://d1bez7r3o7wd77.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Dele-Alampasu-620x330.jpg
The 19-year-old has moved to Portuguese second division side Feirense where he has been in fine form especially in the Portuguese Cup.

Theophilus Afelokhai-Former Kano Pillars goalkeeper who has joined Enyimba of Aba after nearly a decade with the former champions.

Afelokhai was one of the three goalkeepers at the 2016 CHAN tournament alongside Olufemi Thomas and Ikechukwu Ezenwa but has now dropped out of the team.

Ighalo, Oboabona, Samuel say Egypt are beatable

Odion Ighalo celebrates after scoring for Watford against Newcastle

Some of the players of Nigeria’s Super Eagles have declared that the change of guards in the technical crew of the team would not affect the confidence and readiness of the players as Nigeria tackle Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches coming up later this month.

Watford of England player, Odion Ighalo, said that he had seen the 42-man squad Interim Chief Coach, Samson Siasia, called up for the two legged qualifiers and came to the conclusion that the Eagles have more than what it takes to win the matches which will be played in Kaduna on 25 March and Cairo on 29 March.

“It will be a tough game. We need hard work to win this match. Egypt are a good side, but we’ll approach the matches with confidence. I have seen the list and I believe we have what it takes to win the games,” he said.

According to Godfrey Oboabona, Nigerian international footballer who plays for Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor, the ties will be a do-or-die affair.

“We know the importance of these matches that we must first secure three points at home and even go to Cairo to shock our opponents. I want to assure Nigerians that we will make the country proud,” the former Sunshine Stars of Akure player said.

Striker Aaron Samuel Olanare, who plies his trade with Russian Premier League side, PFC CSKA Moscow, was excited about the call up from Siasia, saying that he is ready to add value to the team.

While promising to do his best in the camp and if he is picked to play against Egypt, the 21-year-old set a goals target against the Pharaohs, predicting goals in both legs of the fixtures.

Ladipo backs Siasia to succeed with Super Eagles

Samson Siasia

Following the recent appointment of Coach Samson Siasia as interim coach of the Super Eagles, President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rafiu Ladipo has commended Nigeria Football Federation for the decision saying that Siasia has what it takes to not only qualify Nigeria for AFCON 2017 but is capable of taking the country’s football to greater height.

Siasia was last Friday alongside Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf and Aloy Agu appointed caretaker coaches of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation following the sudden resignation of Sunday Oliseh as the Super Eagles gaffer.

Ladipo told Saturday Mirror that Siasia is an experienced coach who understands the terrain very well as well as the psychology of the players which is keen to success in any assignment. “I must have to commend the NFF for taking such a decision because Siasia has been there before and will use his wealth of experience to rebuild the team and get the maximum points against Egypt in the back to back AFCON qualifiers later in the month.

“Nigerians should remember that Siasia has a very rich resume having coached both the U-20 and U-23 teams where he took them to the finals of the junior World Cup and the Olympics respectively as well as once served as national team coach. When reminded that Siasia was fired in 2011 for failing to qualify for the 2012 African Nations Cup in Gabon/ Equatorial Guinea, Ladipo stated that the situation on ground now is quite different from what it was five years ago with assurance that Siasia has improved technically and now more matured since that sad incident.

On the forthcoming make or mar AFCON qualifier against Pharaohs of Egypt, Ladipo advised the Super Eagles helmsman to select the best players who can deliver against the highly rated North Africans as that is the only way to survive them in Kaduna on March 25 and four days later in Cairo, Egypt. “The forthcoming match against Egypt is a very crucial one because the Pharaohs are the most successful national team in the continent, having won AFCON a record seven times.

Apart from this, the team has character and boosts of quality players who understands themselves very well. “To defeat a team like Egypt, you must be at your best and that is what I want Siasia and his technical crew to do. He must choose the best players and ensure there are no distractions to enable the Super Eagles get good result from their North African opponents and brighten the chances of Nigeria being in Gabon in 2017”, he stressed.

Ladipo also expressed the hope that Coach Fatai Amao who was handed over the U-23 job is capable of taking the team to glory in Brazil just as he commended the Amaju Pinnick led NFF for taking such a wise decision. “Fatai Amao is highly qualified for the U-23 job because he has been in the scene for a long time having coached Shooting Stars and Sunshine FC as well as served as assistant coach of the Super Eagles and the U-23 team before his recent elevation.

“The experiences he has garnered over the years cannot be quantified and as such he is the right person to take the Olympic team to Brazil and I have no doubt in my mind that he is capable of posting a good result with the team at the Olympics”, Ladipo concluded.

Ike Opara Hoping To Play Major Role For Sporting Kansas In 2016

Ike Opara is hoping to play a major role in Sporting Kansas’ quest to challenge for honours in the new season.

Injuries have limited the former USA youth international’s involvement in recent seasons, playing only 6 games before he was ruled out for the rest of the 2015 campaign due to a ruptured left Achilles tendon and the previous year he broke his ankle in March.

“I’m always ready. Even the days that I’m not, I convince myself that I am. I’ve never looked at it as, Am I ready or am I not? I just do it. Hopefully, I do it well when I play,” Ike Opara said.

“I know how hard I work, and I’m not going to let other people label me as injury-prone or however.

“Whether that may be the case or not, for me, I’m not trying to worry about what other people say. I know what I have to do.”

In their first competitive fixture of 2016, Sporting Kansas are guests to Seattle Sounders on Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.

Ahmed Musa Talks Up Move To Arsenal; Tips Aaron Samuel To Surpass Emenike

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/50580Musa.jpg
Ahmed Musa has talked up a dream move to English Premier League side Arsenal amid interest for his services from Premiership leading Leicester City, who might make a new bid for him in the summer.

The CSKA Moscow star admitted that he has been supporting the Gunners for the past 17 years and idolizes one of the club’s legend Nwankwo Kanu.

“What club? I do not care! But Musa has to play, you know ? I can not sit on the bench, well, that’s all. So I go to the Premier League club, who will believe in me,” said Ahmed Musa to championat.com.

“I would be happy if I was wanted by Arsenal . I have supported the team since the age of six. I remember as a child Nwankwo Kanu has been my idol. It’ll be fantastic to play in Arsenal.”

The Super Eagles skipper has tipped CSKA Moscow newbie Aaron Samuel to surpass the achievements of ex-Spartak Moscow frontman Emmanuel Emenike in the Russian Premier League.

“Olanare compared with Emenike? They are really like two peas in a pod. Well, see for yourself: Aaron and Emmanuel - real bison, very powerful players.

“Plus they both run fast, almost like me. But there is one big difference, Emenike likes to score with his right foot and Aaron on the left.

“In general, I think Olanare can become even stronger than Emenike! I’m telling you,”concluded Ahmed Musa.

CSKA Moscow Striker Aaron Samuel Elated With Super Eagles Recall

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/18412Aaron.jpg
CSKA Moscow striker Aaron Samuel was delighted to be called up to the Super Eagles for a pair of African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt in three weeks time.

It goes without saying that the 21-year-old was handed a recall following his move to the Muscovites in February, with ex-coach Sunday Oliseh making it crystal clear that he won’t consider players that ply their trades in Asia.

“I am happy I have been invited once again to the national team, I want the fans to know I will give my best to make sure we have victories in both games against Egypt, ” Samuel told allnigeriasoccer.com after CSKA Moscow’s training on Friday.

“I am always honoured to represent my country and I want to thank coach Samson Siasia for giving me the opportunity. I will do whatever I can to repay that faith.”

The Guangzhou R&F loanee has featured seven times for the Super Eagles, scoring against Congo and Sudan in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

Bartholomew Ibenegbu not baffled by Nigeria snub

By Shina Oludare

The midfielder says he is not puzzled following his non-invitation to the Super Eagles’ squad to face the Pharaohs for a ticket to Gabon 2017

Nigeria international Bartholomew Ibenegbu says he would work harder to get invited for subsequent Super Eagles’ game.
The midfielder who has been in fine form for Enyimba this season was left out of Samson Siasia’s 42-man squad for the make or crack 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

Ibenegbu told Goal that his omission would afford him the opportunity to continue working for his team towards ensuring that he makes the list in future invitations.

“I won’t groan over my non-invitation to the Super Eagles squad to face Egypt because the coach knows the best legs that can help him get results,” said Ibenegbu.

“Coach Siasia is a great coach and I won’t fault his selection since we are all working for a common goal.

“That does not rule me out of the senior national team, but an indication that I must step up my game to get a look in for subsequent games.”

Hector Cuper’s men top Group G with six points from two games while Nigeria sit in second place with four points, but Ibenegbu who featured for the Super Eagles at the 2016 African Nations Championship is confident that the country will qualify for Gabon 2017.

“The group is still very open and if we win the next two games, I think we will qualify,” he continued.

“Egypt are no pushovers but I am very optimistic that we will get the results against them and qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations,” he concluded.

Emenike, Iheanacho On Show As West Ham, Man City Win

https://d1bez7r3o7wd77.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_20160305_180033.jpg
Emmanuel Emenike played the first 62 minutes on Saturday as West Ham scored three goals in 12 minutes to claim a 3-2 victory over Everton in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

In another top clash on Saturday, Kelechi Iheanacho was a second half substitute as Manchester City smashed Aston Villa 4-0.

The young Nigerian replaced David Silva on 70 minutes.
Michail Antonio, Dimitri Payet and Emenike’s replacement Diafra Sakho scored West Ham’s goals.

Romelu Lukaku scored his eighth goal in as many appearances against the Hammers, while Aaron Lennon put Everton 2-0 ahead 10 minutes into the second half.

The Merseyside outfit were down to 10 men from the 34th minute following Kevin Mirallas’s dismissal for a second bookable offence, and after Lukaku missed a second-half penalty, they were punished by the visitors.

The Merseyside outfit started brightly as Adrian was forced into making a save in the seventh minute when James McCarthy’s half-volley on the edge of the area flew towards the net.

Roberto Martinez’s side had a penalty shout denied shortly after the save when John Stones’s shirt was tugged by Reece Oxford in the box while waiting to receive the corner kick, but referee Anthony Taylor waved away the claims.

Leicester target Musa: I dream of Arsenal move

https://static.goal.com/2589600/2589672_heroa.jpg
By Tom Davis

The Nigeria international is reportedly being trailed by a host of Premier League clubs, including the Foxes, but admits he has always been a fan of the Emirates Stadium outfit

CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa confirmed Leicester Cityhad a bid for his services turned down in January, yet admits his preferred choice of club would be title rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old, who has a £22.8 million buyout clause in his contract, was the subject of a reported £18.7m bid from the Foxes as they looked to bolster their title hopes.

Claudio Ranieri's side were left frustrated in their attempts to sign the Nigeria star - who has scored 10 goals this season - but Musa, while confirming a bid, instead hinted at a move to the Gunners.

"What club? I do not care!" he told Championatwhen asked about interest from other clubs.

"But Musa has to play, you know. I cannot sit on the bench. So I will have to go to the Premier League club that will believe in me.

"I would be happy if I was wanted by Arsenal. I have supported the team since the age of six.

Nwankwo Kanu has been my idol since childhood. It will be fantastic to play for Arsenal.

"I will not hide it - Leicester actually came to our club. But I repeat that I want to finish the season with CSKA to help them to win a championship, and then think about changing team."

CSKA are level on points with FK Rostov at the top of Russian Premier League, yet have a game in hand, ahead of their meeting with derby rivals Spartak Moskow on Sunday.

NFF Could Be Forced To Pay Oliseh N140m For Damages

By Johnny Edward:
The ‎Nigeria Football Federation would pay the remaining two years and four months of Sunday Oliseh’s contract if the governing body is found guilty of violation, Comple tesportsnigeria.com has been informed.

Oliseh resigned from his position as Super Eagles coach last week, eight months into his three-year contract. The former Nigeria captain cited contract breaches and a lack of support from the NFF as parts of his reasons for quitting.

While the NFF claim they have paid Oliseh all his entitlements, he insists he has not received any payment.

Oliseh is therefore seeking redress in court for the false allegations that he was paid the sum of‎ N20 million, being salaries for three months (December 2015, January 2016 and February 2016) and half-year rent for July-December 2015 before he resigned on the 25th of February.

He is also going to court because he feels his reputation has been deliberately damaged.

“The case is in court and if the NFF are found guilty, they will pay the remainder of Oliseh’s contract,” Comple tespprtsnigeria.com’s source revealed.

Oliseh’s salary was N5million a month, meaning the compensation package would work out at N140m if the full amount were to be paid.

Information gathered from the Oliseh camp reveals that his assistant‎ Jean Francois Loscuito will also be paid as well on account of violation.

“The case is in court and if they are found guilty, they will pay the remainder of his contract,” the source revealed.

Oliseh resigned as coach of the Super Eagles one month to the all important double header game against‎ the Pharaohs of Egypt in Kaduna and in Alexandria later this month.

Samson Siasia has taken temporary charge of the Super Eagles.

Besides, a minor hitch was encountered so we're yet to conclude the research.

Hopefully, a concrete research report will be out. We no wan make mistake.

The brain areas responsible are still under scrutiny plus his behavioral patterns and idiosyncrasies which usually informs his player selections.

These and many more are still under checks Sir.... So pls, come back another time. #smiles

I just wanted you to include the effect of the latest symptoms from Awaziem's new contract. We want you to include a Molecular level Study.
