I share similar opinion. Christian Benteke comes to mind. Villa was forced to play for the Prime striker Benteke. It worked. Benteke was their hit-man. He got to Liverpool and Rodgers initially tried to force Liverpool to play for him, Benteke (a style they are nt used to). It didn't work. Benteke was relegated to d bench u know the rest of the story for Liverpool this season.
insightful!

thank You the for explications.

Sir, I've been great and I'm still great.... #smiles

My prediction? Uhmm.... I'm not really big on match predictions but I hope we triumph over both legs.

For the home game, I'll say 3-1 in favor of Nigeria.

For the away game, uhmm... Lemme just say 1-2 also in favor of Nigeria (though I see more of a draw away like 0-0 or 1-1).

my honorable friend TheSuperNerd, how have u been? yes been a while, whats ur prediction concerning our crucial match against Egypt home and away?

That does not mean he lacks match fitness for the Egypt clash. National team football is different from Club football.
So long as he is not injured and reports to camp early enough like the other players, then he is good to go. Eddy Ogenyi Onazi is still our best DMF option. He will not play the Kaduna leg though due to match suspension.
You do not gain match fitness from been on the bench, It is gained from playing. That is why it takes players time to get to their best after a while on the sidelines. You can be physically fit but not match fit.

Best DMF based on what? On past exploits? Ndidi plays regularly for Genk in that position, Shehu Abdullahi also plays regularly in that position. I have no doubt that they will do well if given a shot to play there.

I understand going for the familiar player in this game but we also have to start blooding in players that are playing regularly.

A few weeks ago, Awaziem was not in Porto's team. The coach took a chance with him against Benfica and he shone. There are few bigger games than Porto- Benfica. He was on the bench yesterday and Porto fans were angry at the manager when they lost. A few weeks ago, he was not on the bench, now he is a crowd favorite.Sometimes, coaches have to take calculated risks with good players.

Things Samson Siasia Needs To Do
Things Samson Siasia Needs To Do
Biyi Akangbe
[/size]
By: Obiweluozo Martins

With the news about the resignation of Super Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh following hostilities and bridge of contract by the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation) as the main reason for quitting his coaching position.

However the NFF went ahead to appoint a replacement in the person of Samson Siasia after experience Coach Shuaibu Amodu turned down the chance to return to Super Eagles hot seat citing person reasons. On the eve of Samson Siasia’s appointment, he said he took the job as an honour to his fatherland and for Nigeria’s interest.

If Coach Samson Siasia tenure have to be on the interest of Nigeria and football nation as a whole, there are key things the newly appointed gaffer need to do to better the performance of his predecessor Sunday Oliseh. SoccerNet Nigeria highlights these things Siasia must do on the Interest of Nigerian Senior National Team.

RESTORE THE ATTACKING LUSTRE

The Super Eagles of Nigeria is known for its attacking flair and swashbuckling style of play but of recent the team have been lacking firepower uproot. The forward line has been misfiring as the game against lowly rated Swaziland with due respect produced only 2 goals in between 180 minutes played.

That goals scored in 2 games against such an opposition shows how the Eagles have struggled of recent in attack going forward. In the 1990’s and in the Atlanta 1996 when the Eagles put fear in the heart of opponent and tore defences apart with their directness in the final third, it was a great combination of forward line with strict attacking player like Victor-Ikpeba – the Prince of AS Monaco Nwankwo Kanu – Papillo and Daniel Amokachi – the Bull in attacking 4 – 3 – 3 formation with great supply coming from the deep zone (midfield).

The previous coach (Oliseh) talked about the need for mobile players in attack to aid mobility in transition, so therefore Siasia must look for with mobile players with the best of combination to make the difference. Player like Isaac Success, Imoh Ezekiel, Victor Moses and Abiola Dauda would fit the billing in order to instill fear in the opponent of the Super Eagles especially against Egypt.

MIDFIELD CREATIVITY
The midfield have always seems to lack creativity over the decade as the Super Eagles have scored and won important games as a result of individual brilliance of players like Ikechukwu Uche, Ahmed Musa and Peter Odemwimgie, but the fact remains that the Super Eagles must put an end to its long midfield dilemma.

The previous gaffer before recently resigned coach Oliseh in the person of Stephen Keshi, the major problem of his team was to find the third man whose main job will be to link the attack to the midfield.

With a potent partnership of John Obi Mikel and Ogenyi Onazi the third person was sought after by the Big Boss with countless invitees to no avail. Hope Akpan, Sunday Mba, Fegor Ogude, Nosa Igiebor were all tested without a positive outcome.

Even little experienced Ramon Azeez was entrusted into an unfamiliar role to curtail the midfield search for a third man but the young Azeez faltered. Samson Siasia seen to like find a likely answer as the partnership of Mikel Obi and Joel Obi was swift and dynamic in his early day in Eagles.

Nowadays he have more option as players like Chuks Aneke, John Chibuike, John Ogu and Rabiu Ibrahim are up and ready to man the position to help lift the burden and focus off the shoulder of long lasting midfielder John Obi Mikel.

There is an urgent need to explore the attacking midfield position at the maximum so that the creativity from the middle can enhance the Eagles procession to the final third in attack.

CAPTURE FOREIGN BORN TALENTS
https://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/590x/GettyInages-463883688-561324.jpg
Jordon Ibe, one of the key foreign born talent still in Nigeria’s reach‎

The fact that Nigeria got talent home and abroad is there for all to see, but the major problem is Nigeria’s lack of organization and laze affair attitude towards taking into recognition our range of talent pool and capturing them early enough. As the saying goes a stitch in time says nine, so is the case as regards to our foreign born talent.

The Super Eagles have an unbalance chemical equation in the defence line as it seems at every absence of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona we begin to reshuffle with low key partnership in the defence line. Samson Siasia yes a good scout when it comes to young talent but need to scout and identify this young talent with immediately plans for approaching them.

We have the chance now not when they become super stars and regulars at club level than we begin to wriggle with the favourite nation for the players.

Time to act is now and it must be done fast. The ease with which we accepted Jordon Ibe decision went a long way in telling the player how much he was needed by Nigeria but a persistent in and out checking come on will tilt the youngster’s decision in our favour especially now he is out of Liverpool’s first team over the week for many reasons.

MANAGE THE PRIDE OF THE PLAYERS
https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Siasia-1.jpg
Samson Siasia must ensure team uniformity by managing the pride within his team.‎

Samson Siasia as always and during his playing days have been attested to be a man of discipline, he comes early to training and obeys training norms and schemes under his coach then and will be willing to discipline his team but with the recent ouster between the players, the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ranging from one on one outburst or payment of match bonuses the coach needs to help calm down the atmosphere to ensure the Eagles start on a clean sheet. Cordial relationship will be vital especially in his return mission with the Super Eagles.

Siasia needs to manage situations with keen interest. In a big team and a National team like Nigeria there are bound to be ego especially as the country is renowned with top players in the game, it will be candid to settle the arena and manage the pride of the players to great effectiveness, previously Siasia felt out with Enyeama and Odemwimgie leading to failure to qualify for 2012 African cup of Nations.

Also in the Olympic in 2008 there was an incident with John Obi Mikel but the new Super Eagles manager (though on Interim basis for now) needs to pile low if, it is really on the interest of Nigerian football.

We have a lot of defenders in Europe but our local coaches pretended as if they don't know. Once again the author is right on point.

The only reason Ogenyi Onazi will nt b started against Egypt in Kaduna is bc he is on a suspension.

Siasia and his crew know d relevance of Ogenyi Onazi in that team. Ogenyi Onazi's experience cannot b overlooked. If it is strictly based on playing time many of d homebased players would b selected ahead of most of d foreign players

Different coaches have different playing styles. I do not remember Coach Siasia playing with a player who holds on to the ball too long in the midfield.

In the 2005 U20, Mikel played there, utilizing his quick mind and brilliant passes to unlock the defence of the opposing teams.

In the Olympics in 2008, I do not remember Coach Siasia playing with that kind of player. In the other U20 Coach Siasia coached, Rabiu Ibrahim was not a regular.

Coach Siasia loves players that can pass the ball well. He will pick a Xavi, Scholes kind of player over an Okocha kind of player.

Thegoodjoe you re been spot on! Sia one style is a typical attacking style . Playing someone that will romance the ball will kill the tempo of his style . The problem we can have is the defense line .

I agree with you. Coach Siasia needs to Iron out a strong defensive unit to fit his style. He needs a lot of discipline especially from his Defensive Midfield and center backs.

But the same Siasia that refused to use Rabiu Ibrahim in the first match in 2009 under 20 world Cup later relied on him for the subsequent matches because apparently Rabiu Ibrahim was the best in that set. We saw what he did against Germany. That was one of the most entertaining and purposeful match i have ever watched the flying Eagles ever played. Even the German coach admitted to it. Siasia should have saved that match for the extra time but he told the boys to go for the winning goal but Haruna spoiled the day.

Prince Aggreh (left) has joined Eagles training camp in Abuja

by Samm Audu

Seventeen players from the domestic league began training in Abuja ahead of AFCON qualifiers against Egypt later this month.

The players present include Ikechukwu Ezenwa (Sunshine Stars), Etim Matthew, Orji Kalu, Emmanuel Daniel (Enugu Rangers), Ezekiel Bassey, Olufemi Thomas (Enyimba), Prince Aggreh, Ifeanyi Matthew (Kano Pillars), Bright Onyedikachi, Chibuzor Okonkwo (FC IfeanyiUbah) and Godwin Obaje, Yau Hassan (Wikki Tourists).

The players trained twice on Monday alongside the country’s Olympic team, who are preparing for a friendly against Brazil on March 24.

Three U23 players – Usman Mohammed, Segun Oduduwa and Stanley Dimgba – have been ordered to stay with the Olympic team after they reported late to training camp.

The Super Eagles welcome Egypt on March 25 in Kaduna, while the reverse fixture is fixed for March 29 in Alexandria.

Egypt lead the qualifying group with six points from two matches, two points ahead of second-placed Nigeria.

Only the overall group winners are guaranteed automatic passage to Gabon 2017.

Did you see Aaron Samuel play under coach Stephen Keshi at all?

I know most peeps here are not happy with the exclusion of so many "untested" players for the Egypt clash.
The exclusion of Awaziem, Success, Ndidi and a whole lot of other young players didn't come as a surprise to me.

There is a difference between a coach being given a mandate to transform/build a new team and being given a two match win mandate. We are all followers of Nigerian football, we know that given the caliber of players we have in the Super Eagles Nigeria can claim all 6pts from the 2 tie. What we just need is the right approach from both the players and the Technical crew. The Siasia led crew understand this which is majorly y they chose to go for tested players. This is not Nigeria vs Swaziland or Nigeria vs Sudan. This is Nigeria vs Egypt. No room for experiments here. After we qualify for the AFCON then we can start the rebuilding process by trying and testing some of these young players.

I expect the regular Super Eagles line up against Egypt with maybe jst one or two surprise inclusions in the starting line-up.

For the game in Kaduna I'll rather we start with a 4-4-2 formation with this set-up:

...........................Ikeme

Balogun/Abdullahi..Ambrose..Omeruo..Echiejile

..............................Mikel
................Azubuike

Simon........................................Moses
.................................Musa
..................Ighalo
