17 teachers were absent when the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Engr Nuhu Gidado paid a surprise visit to a secondary school on Thursday, March 10. Gidado has now ordered the teachers to be fished out and disciplined for absenteeism.


Below is the statement issued by the SA Communications to the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Adamu:

"His Excellency the Deputy Governor, and overseeing Commissioner, Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Engr. Nuhu Gidadohas ordered the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry to as a matter of utmost urgency, “Fish Out” 17 Teachers who were not at their duty post when he paid a surprise visit to Government Day Secondary School Kofar Idi on Thursday 10th March, 2016.

"His Excellency Engr. Nuhu Gidado further ordered the Ministry to investigate reasons behind the teachers’ absent, recommend disciplinary measures and submit same to him within 24hrs."

Some teachers now do other hustling to make ends meet because the government isn't paying them.

But it's not a new thing in the Northern region nah. Visit any government office or school, you will see that more than half of the staff are not on seat. They only come to work as from 23rd of every month until salary is paid, then revert back to absentism.

That's the reason they have high dependancy on corpers.

You wouldn't have learnt that word if I were absent on Nairaland @ Talktonase

There is what the same Whiteman calls 'remuneration' if you know what it means. In case you don't, it means you get paid for work done. Did the said Deputy Governor not get his allowances for visiting the school that day? Rubbish talk.

But leave am o, Government schools teachers can sabi absent from school sha, I remember envying some people I know who went to government schools back then.



We keep blaming the government for everything when we are not so better ourselves, sad.

Tell him u impregnated his daughter so u ran away when he was coming to the school thinking he was coming to arrest you .

Na dem be the Boko Haram. They should be investigated as to their whereabouts when they were supposed to be on duty.
