A short while ago, I was sitting here at my desk playing a game of Solitaire on my desk top. (For those of you who don't know, Solitaire is a single person card game that comes pre-installed on most PCs and personal computers.)

I'd been playing my current round for nearly 2 days (off and on, not consecutively), and no matter what I did, I couldn't seem to figure out how to win the hand. I could have given in, or quit and dealt myself a new hand to play, but I didn't. I wanted to beat this round of the game, and failure was not an option.

Eventually, I was able to win, and upon doing so, it made me think. As I was playing, I had every reason to quit, but I kept going, because I wanted to be victorious. It wasn't as if anyone other than myself would know that I'd won, or that I would receive any sort of prize or reward for doing so, other than the personal satisfaction of knowing I'd won.

Anyway, I bring this up because the game reminds me, in so many ways, about our lives. Particularly our goals and ambitions. While playing my game, I knew that it could be won by making a certain combination of moves. At the time I didn't know what those moves were, but I was eventually able to figure it out, and therefore won. The same applies to your objectives and goals in life.

Whatever it is that you want to do, there's a very good chance that someone has done something similar before you. Meaning there is already a well laid path from where you are, to where you want to be. However, the path isn't illuminated or lit in anyway, and it's up to you, to figure out which moves you need to make, in order to not only be able to see the path, but to advance farther and move closer to your goals.

Finding the path is not always easy. In fact, it's very seldom ever easy. Most of the time, discovering the path to your goals is a daunting task on its own. And once you've found it, the work required to move to the next stage is just as hard, if not harder. But like my game of Solitaire, if you're willing to stick with it, work hard, remain focused, and re-evaluate your position as you move along, then eventually, you will achieve the success you desire.

So whatever your plans are, whether it's to start a new business, launch a blog, earn a degree, or join the work force, whatever it is, trust and know that there is a path leading you from where you are today, to where you want to be tomorrow. Sometimes the path may lead you into a different direction, which is fine. Very few of us ever accomplish our goals the way we envision them. Sometimes it happens much sooner than anticipate, or much later than we'd hoped, or it may occur in a different field, career or set of goals than you could have ever imagined.

Life is highly unpredictable, and if you let it, it will slam you against the rocks and leave you for dead. The only way to survive in life is to push forward, and you do that by having a plan, staying focused on that plan, and readjusting when needed.

I've been there myself a few times. Things seem rough, sometimes almost impossible, but if you can see a solution in your mind, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Sometimes it may take longer than expected, and things may not turn out how we envision them. But that doesn't mean the goal can't or won't be realized. Keep going with whatever your working on or through. Life is a maze. When one path leads to a dead end, we just need to backtrack and find an alternate route.

Please don't give up. You just never know what’s going to happen to you… unless you quit trying. When we quit, we can guarantee that all of our fears will come true — we'll get passed by, miss our chance, and overlook an amazing opportunity. But if we keep trying, good things can happen. Eventually something will come our way. It may not be exactly what we want, or how we envisioned it, but it will be something better and more than we had previously.

Sooner or later, the odds pile up in your favor, and you will earn that lucky break.
