Mrs Koumate Monique was a cameroonian woman pregnant of twins. On the day of delivery she went to the hospital, but was denied medical attention, since she had no money.

She died at the gates of one of the main public hospitals of the city Douala (Hopital la Quintinie). However the babies in her womb were still alive. The niece of the deceased demanded that at least the lives of the babies be saved by immediate medical intervention, and she would pay for the intervention later on, but all to no avail.

This poor niece, alone with the deceased aunt and the babies moving in the womb, felt she was obliged to operate her aunt herself. She bought a blade in a shop close by, and in the midst of an amazed crowd cut the womb of the dead woman, in an attempt to save the babies.

One of the twins came out dead. The other was still breathing but some minutes later on died.

In recent weeks/months, there has been a huge number of people dying at the gates of cameroonian public hospitals, because they did not have the money to be taken care of.

AFRICANS!!! Why are you people so wicked and cruel?? Watched this video and tears drop down from my eyes, I weep for this continent call AFRICA. The only thing the hospital would have done was to take her in , deliver the babies and keep them till the family pay up for services rendered. All the medical professionals are unhuman, why can't save the life and keep the woman in the hospital when the relative pay for the bill b4 they discharge her.we African countries are heartless sometimes.

I used to fight people for saying this but with recent events happening in Nigeria and some parts of Africa, I am beginning to rethink this.

if u have been to government hospitals u will understand how bureaucratic it is...medical professionals have no biz with payment..they only come to see patient as hospitals have their accountants and other staffs who handle payments....

If you're wise you'll know it's not about docs being wicked but about how the health system is ran worldwide. Even the USA is guilty of same....

Watch John Q by Denzel Washington and see the same occurrence in d Almighty US of A....den you'll understand what I'm talking about better...

Health system is even worse in USA and people lament about hospital bills...even the HMOs are now seen for the money-grabbing folks they're. I dunno how i can explain better to you but that's how it is in most parts of the world.

Don't blame the doctors. Blame the government. It is not the responsibility of the doctors to cater for the well-being of the society with their own money, their own resources. what is government for?

Go to Swaziland; the government built and equipped government hospitals with state-of-the art facilities. Residents of the country go to these government hospitals and pay next to nothing. A number of the doctors in these hospitals are US-trained Nigerians. My wife delivered a baby in the greatest of those hospitals. After all the antenatal visits and the delivery proper; with piles of drugs given to her and with lots of computerized lab tests, I paid a total of less than 100 Rand (2,000 naira). Is Cameroon poorer than Swaziland?

If the scene was not recorded and pictured, I would you believed the story. (Seeing is believing). Am sure if those people were asked to give helping hands, they would surely do. Because they had the courage and sympathy

I'm not the one that took the video.

Again, if there were no video, you would have been the one to say - Video or I don't believe it.

When there are proofs and evidence, leaders and political authorities are obliged to deal the the truth and change the system. With no proof, they claim as if nothing happened, and refuse to change a system because of their interests.

I still doubt you. Heaven is a solo race per se but the kids were still connected to their mom and as such share a single life and more importantly, a dog can only give birth to a dog and not otherwise. So if the mom was heaven bound, so are the kids but if she was hell bound, sadly, the kids suffers her same fate.

I don't really blame them. They are running a business not a charity.
