Good afternoon house, am an undergraduate of one of the Federal Universities and due to some circumstances I am in a tussle with my caretaker who is very despotic and autocratic (to all his tenants).
As I write, my room has been locked by this man illegally without notice since yesterday morning.
My last rent expired Jan. 31, 2016 and I feel I have a right to a 3 months quit notice at least. Please house advice me on what to do, as I am in a dilemma (my things are locked in the room and my final year exams are ongoing).
Please advice me on legal things to do.

Note: we have an unwritten agreement that I will pay him this month.

Find a way to pacify his ego even if u are feeling very furious. Ok?

Yes you can...

ermmm...but please pay him, you owe him. Do you know the hardship he may be going through as a result of your non payment? That may even be his only source of income. Abeg pay the man his money!

Don't bother. Since he's the caretaker, just give him small cash like 3k to unlock the door, and promise to pay him the rent by month end. But you no try, your rent expired since January and this is March,which three months notice are you looking for again? Suing him will make it worse

My rent expired on December 31st and I packed out of the house on January 14 but my wicked landlord still collected half month payment from me.

I do understand. Just that you will lose more by hiring a lawyer. Besides the case will be thrown out of court and both parties will be asked by the judge to go and reconcile their differences. So don't think about it
