There is a defined allocation quota to all the 13 discos. Each discos get a defined fraction of what is generated.
but each generating substations depends on money the disco would pay to stay in business..... so, I guess if some disco keeps rejecting the allocated power

how would they survive when some needs more to distribute to their consumers

Licence of any Power distributors who is not serving Nigerians enough should be withdrawn. They are nothing but saboteurs.

Someone should pls inform Ondo State government that there has been no light in Odigbo LGA, Okitipupa LGA, Ese-odo LGA and Irele LGA for the past two years. And the FG doesn't have the power to revoke their licences and hand over the companies to people who are ready? Good governance is not rocket science.

Re: Power Distribution Firms Reject Supply From Generating Plants by Nobody: 3:42pm On Mar 16, 2016
So we got an existing over 6k mega watts generation but got issues distributing it.. Fash now your work starts... Find a way to ensure the existing power generation sustained by the previous admin is distributed to all and find ways to generate more power via solar, wind energy, coal and gas.. Talk to our traveller to kick start the gas projects in brass and ondo so that we can generate more fossil power...

Another suggestion is let this country promote true federalism and let each of our lazy governors end up working hard to provide power for their states and then can we hold the fools accountable...

LadyExcellency:
The capacity to generate is different from the actual power generated.

The handover document to APC by GEJ's administration contains a paragraph stipulating that we have the capacity to generate 12000Mw already but the gas infrastructure and transmission networks are still inadequate hence the new government should work on them as to deliver the output to the final consumers.
I want to believe that the message by the OP is not written in French or Arabic.

The issue is no longer about power generation , we are talking about discos rejecting light that are supposed to be distributed to the customers.

I think their plan is that; they would accept small power ( to reduce their payment to the Gencos) and rationalise it among their numerous customers and at the end of the month, they would share bill as usual demanding for payment of full month power supply.

The sabotage is everywhere in this country and instead of Nigerians to wake-up to fight our common enemies, they would be shouting, Buhari, APC, PDP ..........

I just learnt something new!

The Discos and the Gecos are two different key players in the electricity value Chain!
And much more

I believe the government should look into overhauling the transmission companies they have a reason why the reject allocations, it's either they aren't making much revenue from their consumer hence they fall below target or other issues arising from Epileptic maintenance of their plants..
Re: Power Distribution Firms Reject Supply From Generating Plants by awa(m): 4:03pm On Mar 16, 2016
APC Government is a shameless one always blaming someone else for their failure.
GEJ didn't deliever to our expectations and he admitted it but APC will never accept responsibility of anything.

Please my fellow Nairalanders can someone help me tell APC to deactivate their campaigning MODE.
Is time for action let them stop shifting responsibilities.

This is sabotage

Any disco refusing supply from the generating plants should be fined...shikena

We need companies who can do their jobs.
Key player is BEDC.... but i wonder wy people of Akure didn't fight these company, since december 25th maximum time for power is 3hrs daily.

Why did they suddenly stop making so much money from their customer? What exactly has changed? May be the few imported component and parts they import with dnllar is suddenly eating up all their profits? May be . . .

The rejection boils down to transmission and distribution infrastructures. No company rejects credit that it has the capacity to utilize for profit.

With fixed charge about to be gone, no Disco is willing to have its balance sheet in red.

The availability of prepaid meter would av greatly reduced this pattern of rip-off. Couldn't agree less with your submission. 100% accurate.

Stop distorting public perception of situation with lies. You mean Gej admin built up generating capacity up to 5,000MW, 6,000MW, 7,000MW, 8,000MW, 9,000MW, 10,000MW, . . . . . 12,000MW without increasing transmission capacity and your are the only privy to this information? Chai . . . . There is God oh!
