Icon4s: I do not think we should keep it that way. We need players evolving. Look at Gareth Bale for instance. He evolved from a wing back, to a winger and then one of the most exciting forwards in the game. If Nura evolves, I do not think we should restrict him. Although for now, that is thinking too far. He is a wing back and Chukwueze is the winger who is going to get technical experience and knowledge from Arsenal. |

This Flying Eagles team. When I think about the quality of players that are eligible to play I can't but say wow! My only wish is that Amuneke should invite all players eligible. And their clubs should equally release them. Just take a look at the midfield Trio of Azubuike Okechukwu, Kelechi Nwakali and Ifeanyi Mathew. The wings pair of Musa Yahaya and Samuel Chukwueze. Attacking options of : Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Sadiq Umar and Chidera Ezeh. Talking abt the defence, we were jst discussing Nura Abdullahi and John Lazarus, we forget that there is Sincere Seth (another Right back) Chiedozie Awaziem is also eligible, |

TheGoodJoe:The bolded is my point. Chukwueze is being tutored as a winger at Arsenal and it would be counter productive to impose Nura Abdullahi in that wing position. Let Nura compete for the Right back position with Lazarus and let the better player emerge. No big deal if Nura or Lazarus sits on the bench. But remember also that Sincere Seth is also eligible. Seth to me is currently ahead of Lazarus. Sincere Seth will only turn 18 in April this year and he has already played in a CAF U23 tourney which he emerged one of d best defenders. He is currently in the Super Eagles camp. |

Icon4s: I agree with you. I think if the competition is high on the right back, one of them can reinvent themselves and give Chukwueze a run for his money. At the end, no big deal in sitting in the bench. It is all for the best of the National team. I can not wait to see what Wenger will do with these lads. The work on Iwobi by Wenger and his coaches is awesome. The lad is also improving. |

Icon4s: Na Wa O! The competition in Nigerian football is getting too tough. If only the NFF can reduce their thirst for short term victory and allow the team grow together. We can build a formidable team to give a good Senior World Cup performance. |

TheGoodJoe:These talented young lads are just too many. That was the point I was pointing out to Tbaba and forgiveness about Ehizibue who they feel we have lost a lot by allowing Holland to invite him for their U21. I dnt believe Ehizibue is better than Nura Abdullahi, John Lazarus and Sincere Seth. Not to talk of the right back we have in the U23(Seth one of them) and Super Eagles. |

Icon4s:Yes, they are too many hence we must seperate the wheat from the chaff with the theory of elimination by substitution until we discover the best out of them all. Ehizibue might be better than all of them but how do we know if we don't give him a trials. |

@Bolded.... Yessss it is!!! And that's just the way I like it. #smiles Case-study: The U-20s got a Samuel Chukwueze @Arsenal who could be modelled into a world class left-footed right-wing beast, Attacking midfielder and more. (Think Arjen Robben and the likes..... #smiles). He'll have an R.B. behind him in most formations... E.g. 4-5-1 system, 4-3-3 system, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 etc. On another hand, in another formation, we could also have an evolving right-back as right-winger. ( E.g. The 3-5-2 system which could also collapse to a 5-3-2 system, the 3-4-3, etc ). Such an "evolved" wingback will have a more withdrawn Wingback behind him as R.B. We are seeing a rise of super talents across all levels of our football (I also put out a list of rising right-backs on the previous page) and we could utilise "most" of these super talents in various formations. WE DON'T HAVE TO UTILISE ALL THE FORMATIONS IN THE WORLD. WE HAVE OUR CENTRAL FORMATIONS which are the 4-3-3, the 4-4-2 (diamond-style), and the 4-5-1. We could also imbibe the 4-2-3-1 (a 4-5-1 detailed breakdown), and the 4-1-4-1 (another version of 4-5-1 or 5-4-1. It could also be a subtle kind of 4-3-3 where the two extreme attacking midfielders move futther up and the two central attacking midfielders in front of the DMF fall into the Iniesta-Xavi axis), This NEW SUPER GOLDEN GENERATION ON THE RISE CAN DO ALL THESE IF WELL HARNESSED. They can outshine the first super golden generation of 1990-2000 (last decade of the 20th century). ................................................................. With coaches like Emmanuel Amuneke (who confounded the world and the fifa technical group of top technical experts with his dynamically evolving soccer style and tactics AND is a product of Spain's soccer philosophy--- he had his coaching badges and Uefa pro-licence qualifications in Spain plus he did star for FC Barcelona and won trophies in only 2 yrs there no thanks to injury), Manu Garba (who is a proponent and mastermind of Africa's first dynamically applied tiki-taka and total football), Samson Siasia (who is a gem for his all-encompassing attacking game with one-two touch football) and a couple of other coaches with an excellence-driven mindset, WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN. #smiles TheGoodJoe: |

joseph1013:Emma, being a very busy person, may not have the time to read through all comments here. But one thing I know is he knows about this forum. Surprised , surprised? Yes he gets feed-backs from his Team media officer. I dnt know if a Media officer has been appointed for the U20 Team yet as the technical team is just being assembled. He had a Team media officer during the U17 WC (Morakinyo Abodunrin) who was following reactions of Nigerians all through the tourney and nairaland was one of the front liners. One thing I must tell you is our comments go beyond here. Some of you with popular monikers here are well known within the NFF quarters. So never see it as a waste of time as important people are reading. |

Although owngoalnigeria.com failed to get any clear cut explanation from sources close to the player’s camp but we were made to understand disparity in valuation is partly responsible for the logjam. His representatives want a deal close to what Nwakali has at the moment with Arsenal but the gunners are not offering anything close to what they paid for the MVP of the last U-17 WYC. However the player has been in London for close to a month now and feelers from contact in the camp of his agency suggest he might still seal a deal in the coming days. Chukwueze is left footed, fast and daring making his teammate to nickname him Arjen Robben and he finished as third top scorer at the 2016 WYC. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/03/11/exclusive-nigeria-u-17-star-proposed-move-to-arsenal-suffers-hiccup/ |

The Golden Eaglets star was on the radar of a couple of clubs in England after he shot to prominence at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, netting ten times to emerge the Golden Boot winner. When contacted to verify claims that Manchester United had explored the possibility of offering a contract to the Ultimate Strikers star, head of youth player recruitment , Derek Langley, revealed that the Old Trafford side were never interested in signing any of the Nigeria U17s players. That said, it can be confirmed that Arsenal, Inter Milan, Juventus, Sporting Lisbon and RSC Anderlecht officially approached representatives of Osimhen regarding a deal before he committed his future to Wolfsburg. By SL10 - Feb 04, 2015 02:35 PM 0 Barcelona loanee Bobby Adekanye is set to commit his international future to Holland instead of his country of birth, Nigeria. The Royal Dutch Football Association is in the driving seat to cap the highly-rated winger after he was included by Coach Edwin Petersen on the roster for the upcoming UEFA Development Tournament. Ademola Adekanye, Bobby's dad, has reiterated that the NFF did not attempt to persuade the PSV Eindhoven starlet to represent any of their youth teams, and it would have been disrespectful to give a negative response to the KNVB. ''Bobby is going with the Dutch under 16 team to Portugal. They are scheduled to play three games, against Spain, Portugal and Deutschland,'' said Ademola Adekanye to SL10.ng. ''The door is not finally shut on Nigeria, nobody knows tomorrow if he will decide to play for Nigeria. ''The truth is that the Nigeria Federation never invited him, but Netherlands did and he needs to respect them.'' According to Fifa rules, the door is still open for Bobby Adekanye to defend the colors of Nigeria until he plays a Fifa-sanctioned competitive game for Het Nederland’s Elftal. ADO Den Haag winger Segun Owobowale represented Holland at the 2014 European Under-17 Championship, but it has been 'claimed' that he has opted to play for the Super Eagles in future. http://www.sl10.ng/news/articles/categories/nigeria-players-abroad/barcelona-loanee-bobby-adekanye-set-to-make-international-debut-for-holland/200106 I still don't understand why some players born in abroad get invitation to the National team while some got ignored delibrately. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. Na animal Farm thing. They will say we need home grown players and that we have too much talented players. But when you look at the countries poaching our players, you will begin to wonder if we have more better talented players than them. And you will think they are poaching from our crumbs. Hehehe! Crumbs indeed! But reverse is the case. With the arrays of stars they have, they still have the quest to accumulate more talented players. The boy approached Emmanuel Amuneke but Amuneke turned him down without even a trial while Holland had already seen enough of him to give him a call up. Which way naija? Tomorrow dem go say he is not patriotic for chosen Holland because they think the boy no like success. I talked about Tiago Ilori exploit at Sporting Lisbon and Bordeaux the other day (now playing for Liverpool fc) but someone said na average player. But i was shocked when he started mentioning and Clarmoring for one of our rising star in Porto to be included in the under 23 just because he played only three matches recently. Don't get me wrong. I support his suggestion but i don't support his selective...... I always supported any good player but i don't support...... I am suspecting something and i still dey observe. ![]() |

EXCLUSIVE: AGENT CONFIRMS ARSENAL FACE BATTLE FROM BORRUSSIA DORTMUND TO PINCH £10m-RATED SADIQ UMAR OF ROMA ............................................................................. The agent of highly rated Nigerian teen Sadiq Umar has confirmed to owngoalnigeria.com that Arsenal are facing competition for the services of his client from German giants Borrussia Dortmund. “Yes we have been approached by Arsenal but they are not the only team that have signified interest in Sadiq as Borrussia Dortmund are also pushing for him” Mohammed Lawal told owngoalnigeria.com “In the coming days or weeks we will know where he is heading to but for now he is very happy and focus at Roma”. Owngoalnigeria.com gathered Roma will reportedly demand £10m for the 18 year old who has two serie A goals to his name from interested parties a fee that most team will struggle to meet. Already Arsenal have failed with a bid just under £5m and will be hoping they clinch his signature with a deal that will consist of several add ons to make up the difference in their valuation of the player. Roma are keen to hold on to the 6-feet plus teen but with director Walter Sabbatini set to depart in the summer a clear out of the youth team top players is reportedly on with Umar and Antonio Sanabria the most likely to be sold. ..................................................................... owngoalnigeria.com/2016/03/12/exclusive-agent-confirms-arsenal-face-battle-from-borrussia-dortmund-to-pinch-10m-rated-sadiq-umar-of-roma/#more-1811 |

forgiveness:I know what u are insinuating. Tribalism abi? Firstly i can almost tell u with all certainty that this thread is abt d most detribalised of all threads on nairaland. We want d best for our national teams. And to achieve this we need d best players irrespective of ethnicity and religion. On the issue of Adekanye, the NFF has spelt it out that the U17 team shall b comprised mostly of home grown talent. This I believe would have played a major role in Amuneke ignoring Adekanye. U once raised a related question concerning Funso Bangboye. Funso was spotted when d team took a tour to d Emirates and played a series of friendlies which included d Aspire Academy. Amuneke then was in dire need of strengthening his squad after finishing 4th at CAF U17. On d issue of peeps fronting Chidozie Awaziem while nt fronting Tiago Ilori. Well, i dnt know for how long u have been a forumite on nairaland bt i can tell that in years past several pple have clamoured for d invitation of Tiago Ilori(I was a front runner) of which Ilori came open to say he wanted to play for Portugal. We have moved on and shifted attention elsewhere ever since. I am sure u know I am nt one of those clamouring for d inclusion of Awaziem in d Super Eagles. Infact when d argument came up dat he was a best centre back option for d Super Eagles i quickly countered it cos I know starting jst 2 or 3 matches for Porto is nt enough to make such a conclusion. However, i can tell u that d fronting of Awaziem by some peeps here is nt based on ethnic sentiments. They simply feel for him to break into d FC Porto starting line-up he is good enough for d Eagles (an opinion i dnt share). I believe this forum is made up of pple from different ethnic grps. There is nothing like selective fronting here. When a player is good we say it and clamour for that player irrespective of his ethnicity. |

Arsenal must pay record fee to sign 18 goal striker this summer ................................................................ ARSENAL will have to pay a record fee for a Nigerian teenager if they want to sign Roma striker Umar Sadiq this summer, according to reports. ...................................................................... RECORD FEE: Umar Sadiq could become the most expensive Nigerian teenager. Italian newspaper La Repubblica claimed yesterday the Gunners had had an opening offer of £10.25m rejected by the Serie A club. However, All Nigeria Soccer claim it amounted to £15.8m with add-ons and that the Gunners are ready to return with an improved bid. “Yes, there is interest from Arsenal” Mohammed Laval And they say it will surpass the £16m Chelsea paid for John Obi Mikel in 2006 which currently stands as the record. Sadiq has scored 16 goals for Roma’s youth team this season while he has also found the net twice in his first six Serie A games. His agent Mohammed Laval has confirmed Arsenal are in talks with Roma about a potential deal .............................................................................. www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/500868/Arsenal-Roma-Umar-Sadiq-most-expensive-Nigerian-teenager |

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that the entourage of the German team will in the coming days meet with the player’s representatives before formally submitting a bid they believe will match Roma’s valuation of the 18 year old. Arsenal reportedly had a bid of around €10m rejected by Roma and are yet to submit another bid although they remain interested in the player nicknamed Jololo for his height and slicky style of play. On their part AS Roma are willing to part ways with Sadiq but only for the right price as he has gone down the pecking order since the departure of Rudi Garcia. Although he is still highly rated by current boss Luciano Spalleti, the manager have so far preferred the quartet of Mohammed Salah,Stephan El Sharawwy, Alessandro Florenzi and Edin Dzeko to the Nigerian. Walter Sabbatini Roma’s director who played a big role in capturing Sadiq from Spezia is set to depart the team in the summer but will firstly ensure they take up the option of turning Sadiq’s loan deal into a permanent one before he leaves. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/03/14/exclusive-borrussia-dortmund-ahead-of-arsenal-in-the-race-for-sadiq-umar/ |

FC PORTO,MONACO AND TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS SCOUTS TUSSLE OVER NASSARAWA UNITED DEFENDER https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/image-92.jpg?resize=169%2C300 There was mild drama at the Gee-lec Football Academy organized scouting programme in Abuja when scouts from FC Porto, Tottenham Hotspurs and Monaco wanted same player. Nassarawa United centre back who can also play in midfield Ifeanyi Nweke played just 20 minutes and all three top scouts started pushing for who will have the 2015 Flying Eagles trainee. ”I wasn’t surprised he made such an impression because when they told me they were looking for central defenders I asked Nassarawa United to permit him to play just a day and am glad he didn’t dissapoint” Babawo Mohammed the facilitator of the scouting programme told owngoalnigeria.com. “A decision on who will get him will be made b Friday but already he has earns himself recognition and hopefully in the summer he will leave for one of the three mentioned clubs not for trials but for outright signing”. 18 year old Nweke trained with the last U-20 team of Nigeria and was a shock omission from the team that won the AYC in Senegal as well as the World Cup team that went to Senegal. Calm, neat in possession and a good passer of the ball he will tonight depart the shores of Nigeria for Algeria tonight with Nassarawa United ahead of their return leg clash against CS Constantine of Algeria where he is expected to help them defend their slim 1-0 lead from the first leg played in Abuja last weekend. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/03/15/fc-portomonaco-and-tottenham-hotspurs-scouts-tussle-over-nassarawa-united-defender/ |
