[b]Chile U-17 World Cup ends tomorrow with The Golden Eaglets facing Mali in the Finals. We expect this set of players to form part of the next U-20 World Cup. Therefore, the journey starts now whether they win in a few hours' time or not.

The 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be the 21st edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The tournament will be hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017.

Along with Japan and Mexico, South Korea becomes the third nation to have hosted all of FIFA Men's international competitions, namely the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2001 Confederations Cup and the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Korean FA originally place a request of hosting the tournament away from the traditional June/July period, as it would clash with Korea's rainy season, as well as any possible national team selection were they to qualify for the Confederations Cup.

Welcome!

I've observed a "subtle" emergence of A reason MANU GARBA didn't deliver at New Zealand 2015.

.............................................................................................
This one in particular caught my eye:

"""They took a bunch of 18 and 19 yrs old to NZ....... That's why they couldn't make it past the Round of 16. That's why we were hammered. Our boys didn't have enough experience...... Bla, bla, bla......"""
.............................................................................................
Abeg.... Were we hammered at NZ?? I'll rather say we shot ourselves in the legs.... No one hammered us. We hammered ourselves by making ""RIDICULOUS TEAM SELECTIONS AND APPLYING "stone-age" TACTICS""

For those of us who don't seem to remember OR who don't want to remember........ THAT'S NOT THE REASON WE DIDN'T GO FAR IN NZ........ I DON'T DENY THE ROLE OF EXPERIENCE AT THE U-20 LEVEL BUT WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T WIN BECAUSE YOU'RE THE "YOUNGEST"?? WHO??

The Nigerian U-17 team that recently CONQUERED THE WORLD (YET AGAIN) did so as "THE TOURNAMENT'S YOUNGEST TEAM"............ How do you beat that?? And don't give that "talk" of U-17 being different from U-20 coz it holds "no water at all".

The U-20s will have guys who, at most, will be 23yrs old as "the oldest". So a 19 or 20 year old can't compete with a 23 year old?? That's funny......

Coz I remember beating (with my Junior Class team) an SS3 class of 16-18 year olds while I was just 13 yrs of age in Junior class (JSS 3). We hit them 7-3 on that day...... And no!!! It was not street soccer.... It was played on a mini-field with near-Standard Goal posts. Yep!!! It was a full-fledged match with 11 on both sides. BUT THIS ISN'T EVEN MY POINT........*smiles*

MY POINT IS THIS, GARBA DIDN'T GO FAR IN NEW ZEALAND BECAUSE.........."FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO SPELL THIS OUT?? "............... He allowed "WHATEVER THAT WAS" TO SHATTER THE TEAM'S MAIN GOAL..... He put pride and Ego before National interest....... HE HAD THE FINEST ATTACK AT THAT TOURNAMENT BUT HE BARELY USED THEM....... HE HAD THE TACTICS NEEDED TO UTILISE THE TEAM'S DEPTHS OF "SUPER TALENTS" TO CORRECT "ANY MISTAKES" Noticed in that Brazil game....... BUT HE CHOSE "THE WAY OF STIFFNESS"........... Shocking for a brilliant tactician who's known to be "so flexible".

SO PLS, DROP ALL THIS "EXPERIENCE TALK"........ IT'S BLINDING A LOT OF PEOPLE TO THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED IN NZ. (AFTER ALL, HE PLAYED "EXPERIENCE" IN SOKARI AND IFEANYI IFEANYI... WHAT HAPPENED?? When he had a Nacho, Yahaya, Moses Simon, Chidera Ezeh, or even C. Nwakali--brought him on very late--on the bench...... Who are "Game-changing" super talents....)

Note: Felipe Scolari "dropped" experienced Romario for a young inexperienced but highly-gifted Ronaldinho....... He even brought a Kaka in. ROMARIO WAS STILL ACTIVE AND IN FORM BUT NO WAY!!! Said Scolari........ EXPERIENCE IS A FACTOR BUT SHOULDN'T BE OVER-FLOGGED AS AN ISSUE COZ IT'S JUST ONE OF SO MANY OTHER FACTORS THAT ARE EQUALLY OR EVEN MORE IMPORTANT.

Looking ahead, Yeah, Adding some experienced "top talents" (not just for Experience's sake but for THE SUPER TALENTS AND TOP QUALITY THEY BRING) within the age grade will be great (players like Yahaya, Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh, and a few more will be at most 19-20 by then).

BUT, LET ME REPEAT MYSELF, WINNING AT THE U-20 LEVEL IS MORE ABOUT "SUPER TALENTS", ORGANISATIONAL TACTICS, KEEN COACHING AND TACTICAL FLEXIBILITY AMONG OTHER TOP FACTORS.

Bringing in an "older player" because you think "Experience" is the main factor is just "missing the point".......EXPERIENCE IS IMPORTANT BUT LET'S NOT "OVER-EMPHASIZE" coz IT'S JUST ONE OF SO MANY FACTORS THAT DETERMINES WHO RULES THE WORLD AT "U-20" LEVEL..............

MANU GARBA DIDN'T GO FAR IN NZ NOT BECAUSE HE FIELDED A BUNCH OF 17-19 YEAR OLDS. HE FAILED TO DELIVER BECAUSE ""He failed to utilise the team's available talents depth..... He "sabotaged" his own team"" #SimpleAndShort.

Manu is still a great coach and has learnt his lessons and I want to see him back in our cadet/youth set-up alongside his crew (Nduka Ugbade and Fancy Ewulu).

SO PLEASE, ON THE ROAD TO SOUTH KOREA 2017, I'LL REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF WE CAN GET "THE FACTS AND ISSUES" RIGHT......... THANK YOU.

*****Smiles*****

[b]From Spain: Man City agree deal to sign young midfielder

Picking up Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali after the the pair impressed at the 2013 U17 World Cup for Nigeria, Manchester City are apparently on the verge of signing Nwakali’s little brother, Kelechi, following his Golden Ball at this year’s 2015 U17 World Cup.

According to AS in Spain, the Premier League team have already sorted out a deal for the young midfielder, who ended the tournament with three goals and three assists.

Despite not scoring as many as his teammate Victor Osimhen (10 goals in seven games), the Nigerian captain was voted the tournament’s best player, as he led his country to their fifth U17 World Cup.

Back in February, there had already been talk of the youngster joining his brother at Manchester City, with his agent, Klay Ekeocha, even admitting the Premier League club were leading the race to sign him, but a move never materialised.

However, with renewed rumours of Kelechi Nwakali moving to Manchester City, AS have seemingly confirmed the deal by saying the 17-year-old will be joining Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

While there has been no confirmation from City’s end about this, if AS are correct, you can expect this to be announced fairly soon.

As MRI no dey this one, let us do as previous winners have and mix the team a little....30% between the ages of 18-20 and 70% players between the ages of 21-23.

There's a reason players like Boschilla and Mosquito didn't make the Brazilian U20 team, rather a Pereira that wasn't in the U17. We shall not be twice magad consecutively
Pereira is 19 years ot age ma'm
Manu Garba shall continue as coach of the side , assisted by Amunike who also keeps his current job as our u17 gaffer.. so i heard .
I hope there z still gonna be space for Nduka Ogbade though, because i place so much value on his inputs esp interms of tiki taka style/philosophy.
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheSuperNerd(m): 1:03am On Nov 12, 2015
It would be cool seeing Kelechi Nwakali at Man City.

His all-round midfield talents are just amazing..... Can play as a Dmf, Cmf, and Amf. He got "lasting stamina", can be "ubiquitous" on the field and is one I got my eyes on to lead the Super Eagles Midfield for years to come (alongside Our Iniesta, Yahaya and a few others) while Nacho (more in a Messi role), Success, Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh, Osimhen, etc (boyyy!!!!! A couple of options abound here...... **smiles**) do their thing(s) up front.

In leadership on the field, Kelechi Nwakali is "a natural" and plays like a Midfielder in the Yaya Toure/Paul Scholes mold".

This (above) is partly why I want him at Man City's Etihad Campus. The Influence of Yaya Toure will help shape his "all-round" midfield game and produce a "super midfield generalissimo" in the mold of Pirlo, Yaya and Scholes as an all-round defensive, central and attacking midfielder plus "super playmaker".

*smiles*

A midfielder who can defend, attack and dictate the pace, all at world class levels, is not common these days.

Majorly, It's either you're a defensive/holding midfielder or attacking midfielder. Or a Central midfielder who can either defend or attack.

YAYA TOURE IS AMONG A CLASS OF MIDFIELDERS WHO CAN "DEFEND, ATTACK, AND DICTATE THE PACE OF A GAME (I.e. Control a game)"

Paul Scholes belonged to this "special" class too. As with Michael Ballack too.

Dele Alli of Tottenham is still young and developing but he belongs to this class also.

Funnily, This is "majorly" what Mikel Obi does for our Super Eagles now.

Note: I speak of All-round midfielders who can "mark" (defend), track back to shield the defence, Attack/create and control a game.

Big Note: Midfielders like Zidane (arguably the greatest), Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Kaka, Busquets, Makalele, Vieira, Modric, are not "all-round midfielders" but "specialised kind of midfielders" with either Attacking/creative or defensive/holding attributes or even central midfield attributes (with bigger tendencies to always attack and control games).

THIS (the Yaya Toure factor plus the Top coaching/nurturing) IS PARTLY WHY A MAN CITY MOVE IS, IN MY BOOKS, GREAT FOR KELECHI NWAKALI. Mehn!!!! Would be lovely having The Nwakali brothers and Nacho fully realise their "super potentials" at Man City. (Note: Chidiebere is more of a Defensive/central midfielder who can play at Right back also........ But his younger one, Kelechi simply got the all-round midfield "package"wink.

Nigerian football still on another "GOLDEN" rise......*smiles*

Of course Nduka Ugbade remains part of the crew at u-20 level.

For the U-20s, it's Manu Garba, Nduka Ugbade, Fancy Ewulu or maybe someone else as (Gk Trainer).

For the U-17s, it's Emmanuel Amunike, Kabiru Baleria, Emeka Amadi (Gk Trainer).

Emmanuel Amunike would also run an interwoven coaching role in assisting capacity at U-20 level while still heading the U-17s since he and Garba have a "keen understanding". BUT HIS MAIN BUSINESS IS THE U-17s as officially reported.

I can see that apart from being a fan of an Npfl club (sorry, uhm... Is it Enyimba? Can't recall) you're also a MAN UTD fan and keen follower...... Coooll.....*smiles*

Man City Lead Liverpool, Tottenham In Chase For Eaglets’ Bamgboye

By Adeboye Amosu:
Golden Eaglets star, Funsho Bamgboye, has attracted the interest of top English Premier League sides, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, Comple tesportsnigeria.com can report.

A reliable source close to the player revealed to Comple tesportsnigeria.com that the young forward was invited for trials by Manchester City which he could not honour because of his participation at the just concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile where the Golden Eaglets won a record fifth title.

Liverpool and Tottenham have now joined the queue to secure the services of the Aspire Academy of Qatar player.

“Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool all have the intention of signing Funsho, but nothing has been decided yet,” the source informed Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

“He was invited for trials by Manchester City before the World Cup, but he couldn’t go because of his determination to represent Nigeria at the World Cup.

“In the coming days we will decide on the club that will be suitable for his development.”

Everton, Malaga, Red Bull Salzburg Chase Golden Eaglets’ Chukwueze

By Izuchukwu Okosi:
Golden Eaglets forward at the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup Samuel Chukwueze is the latest member of the conquering Nigerian side to be linked with European clubs following the team’s triumphant campaign where they won the U-17 title for a record fifth time.

Comple tesportsnigeria.com scoops from Nigerian scout Ifeanyi Elegbua Igwenjoku who owns Great Eleven Soccer Agency in Nigeria that English Premier League side, Everton; Spanish La Liga’s Malaga and Red Bull Salzburg in Austria are interested in Chukwueze.

Igwenjoku has a working relationship with Spain-based Sportsrocks Agency.

“Three clubs have enquired from my partners in Europe about Samuel Chukwueze,” he told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.
“The clubs are Everton from the English Premier League as well as Malaga in Spain and Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. The Austrian club in fact are discussing as we speak with my partners.

“We hope to get the best deal for Samuel. He is still a young player so we need to be sure that whichever club he ends up signing for is in his best interest.”

Tottenham Hotspur have not agreed a deal to sign Nigeria sensation Victor Osimhen, according to the striker's agent who insists no decision has been made over the teenager's future yet.

Osimhen, 16, rose to prominence at the recent Under-17 World Cup where he struck 10 goals to help Nigeria win the competition for a fifth time – their third in eight years.

That haul – a competition record – was enough to secure him the tournament's golden shoe award and inevitably saw him linked with moves to Europe. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Tottenham won the race for the striker's signature, suggesting a deal had been agreed last week.

But Osimhen's agent Shira Yussuf insists there is no deal done, nor is there any rush to get a deal done.

Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Yussuf said: "We have not agreed anything with Tottenham Hotspur, it is just speculation.

Victor Osimhen needs to rest, they shouldn't unsettle the player with these transfer stories. How will a player be in Lagos and they are speculation he has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur?

"For now, we don't know where he will play. We have a lot of top clubs in Europe that are after Osimhen but in due course the public will know where he is heading to. We can't decide without the player."

The same outlet adds Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in signing Osimhen. City have already reaped the rewards from signing a player to have excelled in an Under-17 World Cup. Kelechi Iheanacho scored seven goals to help Nigeria win the same competition in 2013, earning himself a move to the Etihad Stadium six months later.

Now 19, Iheanacho made his competitive debut this season and so far scored twice for the club.

Chelsea Join Race For Golden Eaglets’ Kelechi Nwakali

By Sab Osuji:
Chelsea have become the latest high-profile European club to declare interest in signing Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali, Comple tesportsnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The defending champions of the English Premier League are understood to have written to the agents of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015-winning captain expressing interest in signing the midfield starlet.

“We have so many expressions of interest to sign Kelechi Nwakali coming from different clubs in Europe and the latest is the one coming from Chelsea,” an official of ASJ Football Academy, who have sporting and economic right of the Nigeria U-17 captain, told Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

“We have several others aside from the one from Chelsea.”
Nwakali’s sporting rights are jointly owned by ASJ Academy Owerri and Diamond Academy, Umuahia.

Comple tesportsnigeria.com also gathered that Manchester City are back in the race to sign Nwakali.
Nwakali was to join City after the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup triumph in United Arab Emirates but that did not materialise.

“Now, they are back in, wanting to sign him,” the source added.

Nigerian wonderkid could snub Man City after issuing come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal
Posted by Gary Emmerson

Nigerian wonderkid Kelechi Nwakalihas revealed that he would love to play at Arsenal, despite being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.

The midfielder recently captained Nigeria at the U-17 World Cup as the Super Eaglets won the competition, and also cemented his place as one of the outstanding individuals of his age group by winning the competition’s Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament.

The midfielder’s showings during the competition in Chile has led to interest from a series of Premier League giants, with MTN Football reporting that Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal were all keen on the starlet.

It had appeared as though City were favourites for his signature, with the Manchester Evening News reporting earlier in the month that the player—who is modelling himself on Yaya Toure—was keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium, where his brother Chidiebere plays.

However, as reported by MTN, the Eagles’ skipper appears to have changed his mind, and has stated in an interview that he would love the chance to join Arsenal.

On one of the Sports threads (can't remember rite now), I did say I prefer a Man City move for Nwakali but would also love it if Arsenal FC comes into the picture. (On this thread, it was more of why Nwakali should join Man City)

I pray he ends up moving to one of either. Man city or Arsenal...... But no other.

Arsenal know how to shape Midfielders and K.Nwakali is a special "all round midfield talent".

But also, Man City have a good structure and Nwakali's top midfield Model, Yaya Toure features for Man City. *smiles* A chance to learn directly from the best and your "role model".

Be it Man City or Arsenal, I'll be just cool with any of either. Both have the environment and coaches to bring out the "very best" from K.Nwakali.

*smiles*

Must Muhammad finally played for his team in a 1:1 draw with Besiktas in a friendly.

He was man of the match.

I hope they will start giving him a chance in the first team.

I would rather, he signs and plays
for Arsenal FC. Arsenal are good in grooming young and promising talents. I see more of Kanu in this guy.
Besides, it seems easier to break into the first eleven of Arsenal than Mancity. Just imagine if Nacho were an Arsenal player. Huh!

No money to pay Eaglets’ World Cup bonuses – NFF

Home and Dry: Golden Eaglets celebrate after winning the FIFA U-17 title in Chile

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has come out to say that the football body is cash-strapped and won’t be able to pay the newly crowned U-17 World champions, the Golden Eaglets some of their bonuses.

General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi lamented that the lean purse of the football federation caused the unfortunate situation, adding that, this prevented the NFF from paying the Eaglets and their coaches winning bonuses of the semi final and the final matches of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 weeks after the end of the championship.

“The bonuses for the semi final and final matches of the World Cup have not been paid to the Eaglets. There is no money to pay these bonuses and we can’t pay them for now.

“The problem is that we can’t pay the money we don’t have. There was a rumour that we gave the players N20,000 each as winning bonus. Where can we get the money? It’s just a lie.

“As soon as we get enough money we will pay all the players. They have done this country proud by winning the U-17 World Cup and we must appreciate them by paying any money due to them,” said the NFF scribe, Sanusi, noting that NFF will pay more than the rumoured N20,000 once they have the money.

The Emmanuel Amuneke-coached Golden Eaglets won a record fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup for Nigeria at the Chile 2015 tournament early this month.

That's so right. Nacho even "super" nut-megged a Man Utd midfielder in the process. **sent him to hell** #smiles

Similar to what Messi did to Boateng in last season's UCL.

What about the prizes from FIFA? Did FIFA not give them cash prizes? Don't tell me that one also entered the pockets if the NFF.
