Members of the House of Representatives yesterday launched an investigation into the alleged secret recruitment of 909 staff by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The House’s investigation is to be jointly undertaken by the committees on federal character and that of banking and currency to ascertain compliance to due process. Daily Trust had on Wednesday reported that the CBN had recruited 909 staff within two years without advertising the vacancies. Following this, Rep Aliyu Sani Madaki (APC, Kano), said the process was alleged to have favoured only the top officials in government and other relations of the elite, with differing regional representation. He recalled that when Nigerians got wind of the exercise the apex bank denied it.
