Reports reaching NAIJ.com have it that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed election in Bonny and three other local government areas in Rivers state. Initial reports had suggested that there was violence in the area, where a soldier reportedly shot a voter in the chest, although he did not die. But, in a fresh report, the election in that local government area has been postponed and a date for a rerun is yet to be announced. There has also been reactions to the sudden postponement of the election, with Nigerians saying that INEC cannot conclude a conclusive election for once.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the ongoing legislative rerun election in Bonny, Gokana, Abua-Odua and Andoni local government areas of Rivers state.
