Where were these groans accumulated and reported?

Since IKEDC staff called of their strike, we've been having light in my area, and there's light as i'm typing this.

As for the Fuel scarcity, that too have ended in my area. The only problem is the price of fuel which is being sold at N110/ltr at filling stations. It was initiall at N150 but has been dropping lately.

What happened to the 2bn dollars for arms under Jonathan? Let us start from there before we go to other sectors of the economy

Bro, the law of multiplication and increase says, if i earn more than what i spend, i will grow richer.

If i spend more than what i earn, i will grow poorer.

The current problem with Nigerias econony, is that we are currently spending more than we earn. I am not saying that there was no corruption under Jonathan, there is still corruption under Buari, dnt be deceived. But Jonathan stimulated all sectors of the economy to be productive, that inspite of what was being stolen, Nigerians didnt suffer directly.

Fuel was still N87, Rice was N8,500, Electricity was 10 hrs daily.

The results justify the process. What are the current results ?

Please dont tell me Jonathan's mistakes are Buhari's woes. Jonathan never blamed Babangida or Obasanjo for his own woes. He tackled them headlong. He came, he saw and conquered. Thats what makes a man. With blame game, no achievement.

I now understand better.

It seems you are immune to the prevailing realities of general economic downturn because a legal maxim says....

"He who gives consent ab initio needs not complain"

I can perceive your unalloyed consent to the hardship meted out to us hence your immunity to its pangs.

..... Just thinking aloud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Nigeria everybody is immune to prevailing realities as long as they are shielded.

Are you in tune with the harsh realities of the residents of Borno?

Are you in tune with the realities of those living in IDP camps?

Are you in tune with the realities of indigenes being dislodged from their homes in benue?

Let's stop lying to ourselves. I am not groaning, I have light, I have fuel, I have not been affected by your so called "realities of general economic turn down" - and if I eventually do, i'll jump on the bus seeking solutions than on the complaining bus.

Yes...the economy is in a bad state because oil price has fallen below the point Nigeria needs it to deal with its financial needs.

Nigeria needs oil to be at $123 per barrel to stay well financed.

Time we responded to the challenge by ending our reliance on importation, and by using the little cash we have now on power and transport.

1,On the blame game, Jonathan's supporters and government officials were always blaming the ''North'' for any bad thing happening in our country.

2.Fuel was N97 offically for most of GEJ's regime. It was only in the last few months that it went down to N87. And even then, it was only in Lagos and Abuja that fuel was sold at that price. Elsewhere.....it was N100 and higher. In the East it was even N150, and in the North...N110-170.
(gej should have removed subsidy. But unfortunately Nigerians like the psychologic effect of ''low fuel price'').

3.GEJ could ''Stimulate'' the economy because we had dollars flowing in for most of his reign. That did not mean our economy was good.

When oil prices were high....oil economies were all in a good state. When they were low....they were in a bad state.(Read about Dutch disease).

You are right to say we are spending more than we earn. And we did the same during GEI's regime too...to the point that we were taking loans in the last year of his regime.

GEJ did not take our economy off oil. What he should have done was removed subsidies, spent more on transport and power than they actually did, and reactivated Ajaokuta....and made our industries source for local raw materials.

(Yes...I know he built car factories. The same thing happened during the oil boom of the 1970's. And many of those factories ran into trouble when oil prices crashed in the 1980's because they were reliant on imported parts. Sad).

4.We still had problems with electricity. Yes...light was on for 22 hours a day....and power routinely went low in the periods of Feb-April because....the reservoirs were low. Also, because of the bad transmission facilties in the country....some parts got 22 hours...some got 6-12 hours.

Sorry...but GEJ's time was not Shangri-La.More like missed opportunities to get Nigeria developing properly. And as usual...doing nothing about corruption messed the economy up as well.

To tell you the truth, I want our government to spend more on power and transport, sack excess civil servants, remove subsidies completely, and save money aggressively.

The aim being to end our dependency on oil.

Nigerians ''enjoyed'' under GEJ because the oil prices were high. If oil had crashed to $30 IN Jan 2013...perhaps GEJ would have been Nigeria's worst leader.

And we won't starve....once we get rid of our dependency on imports.

It is a mockery on intelligence to blame APC.

APC is just an acronym, same as PDP.

Blame the President...Buhari.

Blaming the party creates more loopholes for excuses.

The President is in charge and he must bear the blame.

APC == PDP. Leave party alone and ask for good governance.

And at the end of the day, a new set of corrupt apparatchiks would take over.

The problem with corruption in Nigeria is that it isn't just about Mr Big Politician. It is also the lower level civil servant who deliberately inflates the cost of installing a piece of office equipment, or the driver who connives with the fuel attendant to overestimate the cost of fuel bought.

We can remove all the corrupt politicians....and at the end of the day a new set replaces them
Re: Lagosians Groan Over Darkness And Fuel Scarcity by Nobody: 7:10am On Mar 20, 2016
On the power issue.....Nigeria needs power to be at 20000mw before we can enjoy 24 hours power supply. And right now...generation at best is 6000MW....which cannot be transmitted in full because of an obsolete transmission system which needs replacement....which would cost billions of naira. (There is a reason why GEJ privatized power....the problem pass government).

Also on fuel....you cannot be importing fuel, and paying subsidy for imported fuel. Also, subsidy prevents fuel marketers from making profits...which makes them engage in scams. And which is the reason why fuel is above N120 per liter outside LAGOS and ABUJA. The minute fuel subsidy goes, and the minute we build more refineries, the better.

Past government have failed to plan.
You and your crones can't clean up the Treasury and come to complain, because you've not been incriminate yet, that present government brought us here.
Let's be objective, Buhari may be slow and seem overwhelmed but between PDP and APC we've made the better choice and we'll get through it.

Good. I have a question for you then?

How do you think Buhari should solve the problem?

Right now...power is bad because we are not generating enough , plus the transmission system is so bad that it is going to take years to replace it.

As for fuel....we are not producing enough for domestic consumption, and we have to import.

So...how should it be fixed.?

I am asking this question, not because I disagree with you, but because I have thought about the solutions, and so far...they all take at least three years to even start them up. It is going to take several years to increase our domestic output of refined fuel. And power stations are not built in ten months.

I am not an APC supporter, and I would have liked it if they honestly told us that they do not have instant solutions.

No doubts he might have good intentions for d country but d way he is going about it I don't think it's d right way. I think he should have focused on given steady power and improve on transportation which will automatically encourage local production. Nigeria has been surviving on importation and trying to stop importation abruptly will amount to starvation
