Icon4s:As for me, Experience they say is the best teacher. When we went to the 1996 Olympics, we took Emmanuel Amuneke along as one of the over aged players. Remember, he was in the form of his life at Sporting Lisbon. I think we need to bring Ighalo along because of his experience and fear factor which i think will go a long way to intimidate the opponents defence |

@ orkpekyandega I think Ighalo should be allowed to lead the attack because of the fear factor he brings to the opponent team. |

Fathi, who Nigerian teammate Moruf Yusuf warned is more dangerous than Roma’s Mohamed Salah, did not train with the rest of the Egypt squad on Monday due to a muscle injury. He may therefore not be on the plane headed for Kaduna on Wednesday. One report said “there was zero chance” the player will fly out to Kaduna. A likely replacement for Fathi would be Monem Zakaria of Al Ahly. http://africanfootball.com/news/620831/Egypt-winger-Fathi-faces-late-fitness-test |

Omeruo was ruled out of the crucial game against the seven-time African champions after picking up an injury. The Kasimpasa defender wrote on his Instagram page on Tuesday: "Sad to be missing out being with the Super Eagles ahead of this important task ahead. Wishing you guys the very best." Also ruled out of the encounter due to injury is Mainz defender Leon Balogun. The Eagles are expected to be in Kaduna on Tuesday after their morning training session. Siasia Expects Eagles To Replicate Top Club Forms And Thrash Egypt https://i0.wp.com/www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/image-2.jpeg?w=1712 By Richard Jideaka, Abuja: Super Eagles caretaker coach, Samson Siasia has said that he would pick the team that will play Egypt on Friday in Kaduna based on club and training forms of the players, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. "Trust me, there will be no sentiment in selecting the team against Egypt on Friday. We have about seven training sessions for every player to show their readiness to play the game. I have invited them based on their current form in their clubs, now is the time for them to show Nigerians that what we see them do in Europe is real," Siasia told Completesportsnigeria.com. "I am thrilled by their various club performance and if they reproduce such forms here in Nigeria colour, I see no reason why Egypt will not be beaten soundly on Friday. The job demands total commitment from every player and official and with God on our side, we shall triumph over the two legs." Siasia revealed that he would hold meeting with the 24 players and officials in camp after dinner on Monday to let them know his philosophy and tactics for the match. adding that any player who misses the meeting without reasons may have ruled himself out of the game because they all have enough time to meet the deadline. "Though I expect a couple or three of the players to join Tuesday morning " "The response of players to camp, I must say was encouraging and it gives me the confidence that we are going to have a very good game on Friday. We don't fear Egypt. In fact, they should fear us because we won't give them any breathing space in Kaduna and Alexandria," Siasia stated. http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/siasia-expects-eagles-replicate-top-club-forms-thrash-egypt/ |

He'll be alright. He was checked into a hospital. Reports say it was a "salad" he ate. **modified** ............ But the other Eagles players also ate "salad". We all, at least, have an idea of what Food poisoning is. But ask yourself... Why only Iwobi? And why's the international media especially the English media circulating the story so rampantly? Hmm.... What if it's flu he contracted due to weather changes? People's body physiology and chemistry can react to such. Well, all that matters is this: Iwobi is alright. And he's still in line for friday's cracker. BascoVanVeli: |

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi Hospitalised With Food Poisoning Whilst On International Duty Arsenal’s newest star Alex Iwobi has been hospitalised with food poisoning whilst on international duty with Nigeria. The winger met up with the Super Eagles in Abuja at the weekend, ahead of this Friday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier with Egypt. But according to MTN Football, Iwobi has been unable to take part in any sort of meaningful training after he came down with a bout of sickness after eating a salad with the rest of his team-mates, and it was so severe he had to be taken to hospital. Iwobi – the nephew of former Bolton midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha – was expected to start the match against Egypt after scoring for Arsenal against Everton last weekend in his first-ever Premier League start, but his chances of playing any part at all now look remote. We told you earlier in the weekhow Iwobi, 19, had been the subject of a late call from the English FA, which he subsequently resisted to join up with the Nigeria squad. talkingbaws.com/2016/03/arsenals-alex-iwobi-hospitalised-with-food-poisoning-whilst-on-international-duty/ |

Alex Iwobi’s dad confirms Arsenal starlet will represent for Nigeria, regardless of illness [Reports Afrique] By Benjamin Newman https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/201533/7/default.jpg News has filtered out of Nigeria today that Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi has needed to go to hospital for food poisoning. That has left many to wonder whether Iwobi could yet represent England, rather that Nigeria, on the international scene. The English press ran reports this week suggesting that Iwobi could make a late u-turn on his international allegiances. The teenager was set to turn out for Nigeria this week, when they take on Egypt in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday. Should he participate, Iwobi will earn his first cap in a competitive game for the Super Eagles. Iwobi has previously played for the Three Lions at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level. So could England nab the Arsenal starlet? No, says his dad in an interview with Reports Afrique. Chuka Iwobi has today confirmed that his son will only play for Nigeria. He said: In terms of where he is now, he has allegiance to Nigeria. I am not in a position to say England has come for him or not. I cannot confirm, I cannot deny. He has come to Nigeria, to play for Nigeria. He is, according to FIFA registration, a Nigerian player. So, it is not even a question. He is here to play for Nigeria. According to FIFA records, he is with Nigeria. I am praying for it to be the beginning of a long journey for him playing for Nigeria and getting to that pinnacle of playing for Nigeria as well. We don’t know where the journey will take him to. Hopefully with hard work, dedication and respect, doing well for Nigeria, he could go the way of his uncle, Jay Jay Okocha who captained the Super Eagles. What a better feeling it would be for me as a father to see him play for Nigeria and becoming a captain in the future, though that’s a long way down the line. www.101greatgoals.com/blog/alex-iwobis-dad-confirms-arsenal-starlet-will-represent-nigeria-regardless-illness-reports-afrique/ |

Alex Iwobi Illness: Updates on Arsenal Youngster's Status and Return By Tom Sunderland Arsenalforward Alex Iwobi could be delayed in making his official debut for Nigeria after he was hospitalised with food poisoning on international duty. Interim Nigeria manager Samson Siasia confirmed on Tuesday that Iwobi had been hospitalised with food poisoning, but the 19-year-old was fortunately in a "stable" condition, per AFP Sport (h/t Sky Sports): "He suffered from food poisoning and so was not part of the training. But his condition is stable." Iwobi, nephew of ex-Premier League favourite Jay-Jay Okocha, has represented Nigeria in friendly appearances against the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, but he's yet to represent the Super Eagles in competition. The teenager was called up to the squad for Friday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt, at which point the Lagos-born attacker would no longer be able to represent England, for whom he also qualifies to play. Iwobi was born in Nigeria but has lived in England from a very young age, sparking rumours he could represent his adopted nation if Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson handed him a call-up. The youngster has already featured for England's youth teams, from under-16 through to under-18 level, but Oluwashina Okeleji of BBC Sport has said the player is committed to his country of birth: Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi is committed to #Nigeriadespite 'reported' attempts by the Football Association to persuade him to play for England.— Oluwashina Okeleji (@oluwashina) March 22, 2016 Iwobi's illness setback means he may no longer be available to feature for the Super Eagles on Friday, potentially giving England precious time to go about recruiting their target. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recently promoted Iwobi to the first team, and the forward rewarded his boss by netting his first senior goal for the club in Saturday's 2-0 Premier League win over Everton . m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2626730-alex-iwobi-illness-updates-on-arsenal-youngsters-status-and-return |

The Pharaohs are scheduled to face the Super Eagles on Friday in Kaduna, before hosting them at Borg El-Arab Stadium on March 29 in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Koka said that the Egyptian team isn’t solely reliant on the overseas-based players, stressing that all the players exert high levels of efforts with the national team. “The team don’t rely on foreign-based players as Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Elneny, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Amr Warda and me; the team consists of 11 players,” Koka told Sada El-Balad Channel on Monday. “Players who play for the national team make every effort to represent their country in an honorable way,” the Egyptian striker added. Koka also said that their two upcoming matches against Nigeria will be tough games, stating that the Nigerian team are very strong. He however stated that they will do their best in order to achieve positive results in the home and away legs. Koka scored 13 goals with his team this season, since he joined them from Rio Aveduring the previous summer transfer window. www.kingfut.com/2016/03/22/koka-egypt-dont-depend-one-player/ |

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi hospitalised with food poisoning on international duty By Jeorge Bird https://www.squawka.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/alex-iwobi-arsenal-giroud.jpg Arsenalyoungster Alex Iwobihas been hospitalised after suffering food poisoning while on international duty with Nigeria. The prospect linked up with the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Egypt, but was considered too ill to train with the squad yesterday. As reported by AP, Nigeria coach Samson Siasia said: “He suffered from food poisoning and so was not part of the training. But his condition is stable.” Iwobi has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Arsenal at club level and has made 14 senior appearances so far. https://www.squawka.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Screen-shot-2016-03-22-at-13.51.18.png Alex Iwobi has a shot accuracy of 67% in the Premier League this season. The youngster is capable of operating in a variety of positions, including central midfield, out wide and up front, and impressed on the left flank against Everton last weekend as he scored his first Premier League goal. Iwobi, who has an average pass accuracy of 80% in the Premier League this season, has been capped on two occasions by Nigeria but is yet to represent his country in a competitive fixture. Iwobi will hope to recover in time to feature in at least one of the two games with Egypt. If he does feature then the starlet will no longer be able to represent England on the international stage, despite having played for the Three Lions at youth level. Although Arsenal’s FA Cup campaign came to an abrupt end with a defeat to Watford in the quarter-finals, Iwobi featured prominently in that competition this campaign and will hope to be involved when Arsene Wenger’s side take on the Hornets in the Premier League after the international break. Alex Iwobi has been successful with 23% of his duels in the Premier League this season. www.squawka.com/news/arsenals-alex-iwobi-hospitalised-with-food-poisoning-on-international-duty/626133 |

Arsenal sweating on Iwobi fitness after hospital dash Arsenal were already facing a potentially big problem with our forward line when the Premier League kicks off again after the current international break and that problem could now be even bigger as the new Arsenal star Alex Iwobi was rushed to hospital in Nigeria. According to a Metro report the reason for this was food poisoning caused by something he ate while on international duty with the Nigeria team. The report does not say just how serious it is or how long it might be until he is fit enough to play again but Arsenal fans everywhere will be crossing their fingers. With the Gunners set to face Watford next Saturday and with Costa Rica and Chile playing World Cup qualifying matches less than three days before that, the chances of Alexis Sanchez and Joel Campbell being ready to play after a long haul flight back to England are pretty slim. So we were already down to the bare bones when it comes to striker options and after his great performances against Barcelon and Everton, the 19-year old Arsenal academy star was sure to be a starter against the Hornets. Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi to be handed bumper new contract following Everton display By Arunava Ray Arsenal's Nigerian striker AlexIwobiruns with the ball during the English Premier League football match between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park in Liverpool, north west England on March 19, 2016. Getty Arsenal are set to offer Alex Iwobi a new contract this season after the youngster made his way into the Arsenal first team. The Nigeria international scored his first goal in Arsenal colours against Everton at the Goodison Park and Arsene Wenger believes that he has earned himself the right for a bumper new deal. The Evening Standard reports that the midfielder is likely to receive more than a 1000% rise from his current weekly wage, which currently stands at less than £1000 ($1428) a week to close to £10000 ($14280) a week, which should keep him away from the hands of rival clubs keen on his signature. Iwobi was also given a start against Barcelona at the Nuo Camp where he performed admirably, showing how much he has progressed since taking the field in the Emirates Cup last summer. England were desperate to get him to switch allegiance from Nigeria, but Iwobi was unwilling to give in to the requests of the FA and will continue playing for the African nation. The Gunners will be hoping that Iwobi can continue his improvement and help the north London club end the season on a high. Their win against Everton was only their second in a spell of eight games with five losses to their name, which has all but ended their title hopes and eliminated them from Europe and the FA Cup. The north London club lost 5-1 on aggregate to Barcelona while their quest to win the FA Cup for the third year running was cut short by Watford at the Emirates. Iwobi came in as a substitute against the Hornets, who travel to the Emirates yet again on 2 April to lock horns in the league. Wenger has revamped his team in the last two games, with Iwobi starting on the left while Alexis Sanchez has been brought to the right. Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny are currently operating in midfield, with Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere all out through injury. www.ibtimes.co.uk/arsenal-midfielder-alex-iwobi-be-handed-bumper-new-contract-following-everton-display-1550955 |

Egypt will not escape defeat: Nigeria Football Federation chief NFF chairman Amaju Pinnick believes Nigeria will surely win if their England-based players replicated their English Premier League form against Egypt Omar Zaazou Nigeria football team )Photo: Reuters( Nigeria Football Federation chief Amaju Pinnick seemed full of confidence ahead of the Super Eagles' Cup of Nations double qualifier with Egypt, asserting that they 'will not escape defeat in Kaduna' on Friday. Relying on English Premier League trio Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi and Obi Mikel, Nigeria will be looking to snatch all three points at home before visiting Egypt four days later for the second clash at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium. “With the form of Iwobi, Mikel, Odion and other players in England and other leagues of Europe, Egypt know they are in real trouble and will not escape defeat in Kaduna," Pinnick told Nigerian website Vanguard.com. “Our boys are in the best form for the Egypt game, and if they reproduce such form in Kaduna on Friday, goals will rain against the visitors. "What we are praying for is that our foreign based players give the game their best and win the first leg before going for the final kill in the second leg duel. “Already, some of the players have called to reassure us that they would show no mercy against Egypt and I believe them. We are not taking any chances against the Pharaohs." Watford striker Ighalo has been in stunning form this season, having bagged 15 Premier League goals plus another two in the FA Cup. Nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder Iwobi, meanwhile, has managed to impress for Arsenal of late, netting his first goal for the Gunners in the 2-0 win over Everton. Obi Mikel, on the other hand, was given a new lease of life under interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink – who has regularly relied on him in the holding midfielder position since replacing Jose Mourinho at the helm in December last year. Egypt, who haven't reached the Cup of Nations since last winning the title in 2010, are currently top of Group G on six points following two wins - while rivals Nigeria are second with four. english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/6/52/193654/-.aspx |
