Dear Nairalanders, please what is the name of this animal and is it dangerous?

That's the common garden skink. Absolutely harmless.

Wow! Thanks a lot. Thought it's dangerous. I was told it attracts snakes. I have killed two around my home. Thanks once again.

some have their lateral line in red colour plz is it true that those are poisonous

One thing I knw for sure is that it is harmless,but I was once told if it sees human,it turns to snake maybe due to it snake-like movement,but I guess it is all superstition because I have seen it one and one tyms without number

That's an urban legend. Many people said that when we were young, it was referred to as "Alayonbere" pls correct those of you that know better.

It's harmless, please don't kill it again. The skink is a reptile and behaves like most reptiles do, I.e. sly movement, egg laying and insect eating. Its sly snake like movement is the reason why many folktales relating to snakes are attributed to it. Don't kill it again pls.

please guys do kill or Burn them whenever you see them , they do attract Snakes 🐍
