The best thing to do is to prepare a fresh budget because the original proposal from the executive could be any other thing but budget. Now that the president is calling for the details, we are going to see budget drama phase 2. My only understanding from the ongoing is that Nigeria as a country does not understand what the budget is. Nigerian economy is already in a comatose witnessing unprecedented hyper inflation ( forget about the doctored official inflation rate ), we need to try for once and be serious with this budgeting process.

I agree with Pres. Buhari. Why would one sign something that you do not have the details but the summary? He needs to know the details of the bills before appending his signature.

Surprised you are saying this. Who submitted the budget in the first place? Is there any addition made to the original material or reductions? If there are reductions as we know there are but no addition, so why the need for details since it is your original submission that even got reduced. OK even if there is genuine need for details, what are the job description for his many PAs? So we should still keep waiting for Senate for details, has it been so done before?

The house is a major clog to our progress. The serve more as obstacles than anything. Nigeria should demand for their record sheet as much as they make demand to the executive. Wht did they pass? They should send a copy to the President. The budget is a law. How can you sign something into law when you have not seen the content?

The house is the one delaying here not the President. If they mean well they should send the passed budget to the President today.

It's actually not about errors. It's about him being sure that his strategies don't get ruined. In teh past once the budget was appropriated, the do called Min of Finance would proceed to move money allocated for one objective/purpose to the other. This government cannot afford to repeat the errors and fraud of the last government so it is important that they check that the sums earmarked for each object/purpose are exactly where they left them otherwise they might find that while the total amount of 6 trillion is there, it has been allocated to purposes that are not the priority of this government. This will automatically mean that for the government to fulfil it's promises it will need to misappropriate funds just as the last clowns did.

You can safely ignore 85% of the comments on this thread as being uninformed, illogical an based on sheer vitriol - otherwise known as bad Belle or sour grapes.

To be frank, buhari has a genuine reason not to sign the budget, he seems to be having more enemies in d 2 Chambers of National Assembly for not bending so low to corruption continuity among them. They actually want him to play to their tune in order to get him frustrated the more thereby crippling the economy the more. I still believe the prime suspect in Nigeria woes up till now are the 2 Chambers of the Nigeria National Assembly. They are the Federal wing of corruption, while we have several state wings.
