olrotimi:Accused murderers and armed robbers are not entitled to bail. So, Falana is only advocating we treat people accused of corruption similarly. Looking at the level of corruption in the system, I don't think it's a bad idea. We need to start fighting corruption with all seriousness and not with kid gloves. |

The same Falana that said Stella Odua could only appeal to God? I stopped taking that man serious from the moment it was confirmed that Supreme Court didn't actually remove Stella odua |

seunmsg:are u really serious on the bolded? so if i accuse u of stealing while serving in government, u should be thrown to jail without bail. how would u be able to defend urself if the accusation is PHANTOM. do u really know why the judicial/legal system was setup? Or are u trying to say that every accused is a criminal that should be denied bail without fair hearing and conviction. You should even be advocating for Jungle Justice, accused and be jailed without conviction. #smh mehn i can't believe ma ears |

seunmsg:We all know that most dictators are self-serving megalomaniacs who play god with the lives of their citizens. Who will want to gamble their life on the chance that the "dictator" will be benevolent ? It is interesting to note that the singaporeans were not campaigning to have a dictator installed, in fact lee kuan yew was democratically elected. Since humans always have the tendency to abuse power , it turns out that the most important ingredient of a successful government is self-regulation. Any system of government which doesn't have it will fail, but democratic system have more chance of attaining self-regulation than others. |

seunmsg:That is not entirely true in reality, Some armed robbery and murder suspects do get bail once in a while. It is all about context, you can't treat a man who killed another while fighting the same way you treat an hired assassin , that will be injustice. |

romme2u:People have been innocently accused of murders, denied bail for a long time before they get discharged and acquitted. Fact is, there will always be collateral damage in every criminal justice system. People get killed for corruption in china. So, detaining people accused of corruption until they are found guilty or innocent is not too big a price to pay to rid our country of corrupt leaders. |

AntiWailer:You are obviously ignorant and your mentality is only good for the jungle. When does transferring money from government to companies or individuals becomes a crime ? I am sure it is this kind of belief that is making EFCC not to have a headway. You can't charge someone for collecting money for a service, you can only charge them for not delivering. |
| Re: Treasury Looters Should Rot In Jail They Don't Deserve Bail- Falana by seunmsg(m): 12:53pm On Apr 01, 2016 |
neocortex:Murder is murder in any context and it is not a bailable offence. Please note that all killings are not murder. Manslaughter and second degree homicide are not murder. Those are the ones you may get bail for not murder. |

seunmsg:Kindly quote the section of the constitution that back up your claim. It appears you are confusing being charged with murder and being convicted of one. The law has no interest in keeping anyone in jail except there is a genuine reason for it (e.g being a threat or possibility of absconding). You cannot punish an accused for a crime he/she is yet to be convicted of. |

elmisti:Not true, it is part of human rights to protect people whose lives are affected by unbridled corruption. If there's is a reasonable evidence that a crime has been committed why would any sane judge grant an injunction against detention and prosecution? This is what is going on in Nigeria and it is dumb. Do armed robbers get such a treatment? |

seunmsg:instead of researching for a better way to make the system efficient and effective thereby reducing injustice, u went all for this. i hope if u or ur relations become part of the collateral damage, u won't cry foul. Or why don't u propose Jungle Justice so that there will be no need to waste money and time on justice. So if i accuse the current president of nepotism, would he be kept in jail until judgement is pronounced |

Aigbofa:Bro, cool down ehn. Am from kwara state so u should know how badly I want to see corrupt leaders wiped off but as long as democracy is the system, everyone, and I repeat EVERYONE yet to be convicted of a crime is entitled to bail as long as he is nt a threat or liable to abscond......in any sane world what a lawyer gets for his client first is bail before anything. That's how tinz work. Imagine we put everyone accused of corruption in jail, the whole maitama and lekki will be prisons already |
