Amidst heavy criticisms over the controversial Religious Activities Regulation Bill by the Kaduna State government, Comrade Philip Agbese, a civil rights activist, has described the bill as a biblical concept that was initiated by Apostle Paul in the Bible. The United Kingdom based activist said Governor Nasir El Rufai is more of a prophet of God than those who have predicted his death. His words: “Anyone that wants El Rufai to die does not have a copy of the New Testament or lacks basic knowledge of simple comprehension or both. The prophet calling for El Rufai’s death is not only a joker playing the brain cards of prosperity on his followers but as well guilty of the offences that are enclosed in the letters of the Bill already sent to the Kaduna State House of Assembly. “These very persons were the same goons who collected our hard earned money in foreign currency from former President Goodluck Jonathan that he would win the Presidential election. “Unfortunately, when the results turned upside down, they still shamelessly attempted to deceive their congregants that it was God who changed his mind. How do we explain the flip flops in their prophetic narratives when those calling for El Rufai’s head had predicted that he will never become Governor, that Okorocha will lose his second term and that Goodluck Jonathan was going to win again?” Supporting the move by El-Rufai, he informed that it was Apostle Paul in the Bible who encouraged Christians that all men and women should learn to conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Whoever doesn’t respect this admonishment cannot in the first instance address him/herself as a Christian anywhere in the world? He advised that the Bill when passed into law shall restrict what he termed “cut and join Pastors and Imams” from misleading people in Nigeria and should be endorsed throughout the federation and allowed to stand in order to bring about sanity in Nigeria. According to Agbese, Nigeria has the highest number of churches and mosques in the world yet the citizens still find it difficult to live together in peace and harmony due to hate preaching and sermons that have become a part and parcel of them. Meanwhile, the activist has called on genuine prophets of God to pray for the Governor to succeed in his quest to protect the citizens of Kaduna State irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation. http://independentnig.com/2016/04/el-rufais-religious-bill-biblical-activist/

Never heard of Agbese. But then again, the easiest way to gain cheap popularity is to go against the popular opinion. |

sinkhole:Sometimes the way we christians make mockery of ourselves baffles me atimes. I remember how we went to town unclad on the issue of Islamic banking only for us to have our mouths filled with sawdust after it became open knowledge that the biggest backers among others of such idea were Christians from the least likely of places-the east! The elections came and we were regaled by the Islamisation agenda of a buhari despite all d facts that point otherwise! Now it is "religious preaching bill" and we are nt hearing any concrete intellectual position apart from the "you will die" position. The hue and cry is that it is goin to be used against the christians! The question is have the islamic banks suddenly been used to replace our commercial banks? Has buhari pressed one button and all our ladies suddenly appear in burqas and hijabs (when even his wife doesnt wear one like our former VP wife, Sambo)? El rufai has said that if the christian body has issues with the bill he is ready to pull it out BUT they must be ready to regulate their members. Is that so difficult? I totally agree becos anybody jst needs a bible/quran, a mango tree for shade and a full stomach to shout, and they are in business, dishing out anything they like! There is one funny "prayer house cum church" close to my house setup by a muslim husband and christian wife. That was how we had a "Rev" king in our hands and we have such all over nigeria! If we christians have an issue wt the tbill, we shd engage and not blow hot air from pulpits or the pages of newspapers! 1 Like |
