I have decided to share somethings I faced and how the Spirit of the Living God helped me to overcome them while growing up spiritually

1 john 2:16 says Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world.

The five senses; taste, touch, smell, hearing, and seeing, all report to the carnal mind – which is the enemy of God. These senses are what Satan uses to tempt us! The lust of the flesh includes tasting, touching, smelling, and hearing. The lust of the eyes is seeing. The pride of life is thinking you are special because of who you are, what you have, what you know, or what you look like.

The enemy uses these three things, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, to entice us to sin. Scripture shows this process at work in both the Garden of Eden and on the Mount of Temptation.

In the Garden of Eden: «The woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat.» Genesis 3:6 The woman, Eve, saw that «the tree was good for food» – the lust of the flesh, «it was pleasant to the eyes» – the lust of the eyes, and «a tree to be desired to make one wise» – the pride of life. Of course you know the rest of the story! Eve was deceived, Adam disobeyed, sin came into the world, and death passed upon all men by sin, for that ALL have sinned…

On the Mount of Temptation: When the tempter came to Jesus, he said, «If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.»
Matthew 4:3 – the lust of the flesh.

«The devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, ‹All these things will I give thee.›» Matthew 4:8-9 – the lust of the eyes.

«Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, ‹If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.›» Matthew 4:5-6 – the pride of life.

Through the power of the Spirit, with the Sword of the Spirit, Christ successfully resisted the temptations of the Devil and now we can too!

For to be carnally minded (minding the things of the flesh) is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind (minding the things of the flesh) is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God…
Romans 8:6-8

I think the greatest battle we all face in our lives is the battle within, the battle between the flesh and the spirit.

I battle with this a long time after I gave my life to Christ and became a new creature because this was me before I gave my life to Christ.

Yes I lust after all manner of flesh
Yes I can't get my eyes off "especially anything on skirt" as I was a chronic womaniser before I got saved and
Yes I had all kind of pride as well

But the Holy Spirit WHO is the Spirit of Truth led me and still leading me into ALL truth and few things that helped me through the Holy Spirit to overcome all these are:-

1. What is your cause?
For me my cause was the fact that I wanted to be holy just as Christ is. After I gave my life to Christ, I started reading the bible and as I read, God point these things out to me, He made me realise my sins and I decided I was going to stay away from it. Determination is the first step which is moved by your cause. Why? Why do you need to stay away from this things? For me my cause was that I needed to stay holy as the Word said. Obeying the Word of God was what I focused on.

2. Let your eyes be single
Luke 11:34 says The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

So many sexual immoralities going on everywhere from the images on the internet where you see nude pics to the ones we see on the street where some so called sexy girls all in the name of been sexy put on almost nude cloths to attract men, most porn sites are now free online to watch or download anytime and many times we look at things we shouldn't see and this does not leave out servants of God as they are also human.

But what did Jesus say concerning this?
Mathew 5:28 says But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

So what did I do? I stayed away from all porn sites so as not to put off the Light of God in me. And I followed what the word says, whenever I see things am not supposed to see " like female boobs, the thigh, unclad lady, lady dressed seductively and all other images" that might start bringing fantasies in my mind, I don't look at it twice. I immediately get my eyes of them and focus on something else.

Particularly about talking with a girl who is dressed seductively exposing some part which might makes me want to start thinking of getting down or creating some kind of fantasies in my mind and even those who are even normally dressed, what I do through the help of the Holy Spirit is to FOCUS ON JUST THE FACE.

Yes even if you do that, our eyes is created to see even beyond that which we focus on but when we focus more of the face, that is where our attention will be. It helps from the lust of the flesh. Jesus says our eyes is a lamp to the body, what you see is what you think.

It is the lust of the eyes that brings lust of the flesh. When we see seductively dressed female/male, our body tends to want it, it lust after it then you start thinking of getting down or some sort

I focus on the face even when a female is not seductively dressed as our mind is very carnal and we need to guide it.

3. Don't give in to the devil
The last and most important thing to do is not to give in. This will be very hard but the bible says in phil 4:13 "we can do all things through Christ who strengthen us".

We need to understand that we can't overcome the devil on our own except with the help of the Holy Spirit so we need to pray concerning this.

When I started this at first, no matter how hard I try, I still look at female seductively and it got so bad that I get attention when I try to fix my eyes on the face and letting my eyes to be single but I never gave up. I knew this was a sin I had to overcome so I kept on doing that until I got used to it.

Now I can control my eyes "with the help of the Holy Spirit". I don't look at things am not supposed to, even when my eyes moves and set itself on things that is worldly, I immediately get my eyes of it.

To mature or improve spiritually, you have to overcome this lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life.
Especially the lust of the eyes and its a continuous overcoming, you have to be at alert all the time so as not to give the devil the chance because he will never stop tempting you as a child of God.

Our fall is his priority and we must not allow that. Jesus said I have overcome and He Who said I have overcome dwells in us which automatically makes us an overcomer, we are more than a conquerer.

Proverb 4:23 says Guild your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.

God help us all

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

You are welcome sir. I decided to share my own experience to help others after seeing different posts on how people find it difficult to overcome this even with the will to serve God truthfully and faithfully.
