Its obvious the president does not understand economics. The oil marketers know the govt/NNPC could not sustain the sole importation of fuel for long due to orex limitations. The window of opportunity came and they made the best of it. Now, we are reverting back to subsidy days, a situation the oil marketers know how to exploit at the expense of the country. You can be rest assured that the cabals would exploit the system except a fraud proof system is put in place, if such thing exists. Has anyone wondered how fuel scarcity seems to coincide with general nationwide power outage. I dont want to believe this is mere coincidence. Its part of a grand plan to force the govt and the people to yield to its favor. Until patriotic citizens join hands together to unravel the modus operandi of the forces working to deprive nigerians of the little joy we are entitled, these people are bent on enslaving nigeria for life. The president must come out with a long term solution to permanently end fuel importation in this country. Only then will these forces be rendered powerless. Nigeria must be prepared as these individuals will try everything in the crook book to exploit the subsidy system. |

Please I have a question. Is it that refineries can not be repaired and if they can't be repaired new ones can be built so that we refine our oil here in Nigeria without needing to take crude oil out and import it again ![]() Is this just an impossible task? Or you want to say Nigeria does not have money to do this ![]() |

I have never seen anything like this before since I was born... How is it that we cannot provide fuel for ourselves even as God has blessed us abundantly with it. Someone definitely need to be sacked or resign jejely. APC Govt. have broken another big record after first breaking the "forex"record (N450 = 1£) and "zero MW" power supply records (happened last week). Like Ostrich we have again buried our heads in sand of shame. |

Kay17:Why would it be 400 naira though? My guess is, it would be around 150 with no queues, at least until more refineries are built. If NNPC wants to subsize, then that's fine, they can build mega, mega stations across the country to cater for people willing to queue for petrol at 87. Mega stations of like 24 pumps and ample space for queue lines would suffice. All this while waiting for cheap petrol from pur refineries. |

Deen77:u r so wrong with ur question, it shud be can obasanjo, yaradua, jonathan tell us why their govt kept importing instead of refining locally. simple. stop dis pdp dis n dat. we shudnt be like the bible days that punishes till the fourth generation the atrocities of the forefathers. |

| Re: Fuel Scarcity Paralyses Lagos, Other Major Cities -PUNCH by Kay17: 1:30pm On Apr 05, 2016 |
luvinhubby:Then how was your answer a solution when it would lead us back to this point. No proper business man will buy refined oil with the exchange rate of 320N to the dollar and sell at 86 or 100N. And most can't resist the temptation to hoard to sell higher. It's capitalism at its finest. |

| Re: Fuel Scarcity Paralyses Lagos, Other Major Cities -PUNCH by Kay17: 1:37pm On Apr 05, 2016 |
luvinhubby:The real price prior to now was 86+x. X being the difference the govt subsidies for each litre. With the forex dramatic double cost, the real cost will be at least 2(86+x). Unfortunately I'm too lazy to find the actual costs. But that's just a rough calculation. |
| Re: Fuel Scarcity Paralyses Lagos, Other Major Cities -PUNCH by Nobody: 1:55pm On Apr 05, 2016 |
Kay17:We are already buying at 400 per litre. This is the time for the government to embrace total deregulation and end this intermittent pain and suffering. Nnpc can sell at 5kobo if they like as a government entity but government should please stop controlling price and let the market force take control. The masses Buhari wants to protect are suffering unimaginable pain already in transportation food and sundry costs. I pray he is guided. |
| Re: Fuel Scarcity Paralyses Lagos, Other Major Cities -PUNCH by Kay17: 1:59pm On Apr 05, 2016 |
truthbastille:Since you are already buying at 400N and you know deregulation does not change the 400N. Why are you complaining! I believe your position on deregulation is correct but Nigerians wouldn't want that. They would want to "enjoy" the benefits of an oil producer with refineries. |
