Let them go beyond Saraki and expose the thieving and avaricious political class we have in Nigeria. All Nigerian politicians starting from Buhari are pests to the system. They see the country as their private estate which they would bequeath to their children and wards. Our politicians hardly believe in the viability of Nigeria hence the rapacious appetite for ill-gotten wealth and other unconscionable acts like ruining the educational system in the country while sending their children to study abroad. Nigeria nauseates... |

Truth is if Abacha never died no loot would have been recovered and if saraki did not betray his fellow ruling class thieves for the senate presidency nobody will be talking about assets declaration and his many embezzlements. Nigerians keep supporting thieves to rule over them while praying to God for economic boom. I even forgot......Saraki the devil, Tinubu the saint |

it is high time we all start taking interest in governance as we are all stakeholders. Nigerians have to be pay critical attention to laws and policies being passed by those in government. It does come across as unfair for someone to hold a political and elected office for 4 years and afterwards be placed on pension for life. But then again going by the pension law of the state he has not committed any crime receiving the pension. We can only fault him if he was getting more than approved by the said pension law. Our leaders are selfish and we must be very watchful of their actions as once these selfish policies are made laws there is nothing you and I can do other than to pray someday a Moses will tear them down. #A people deserve the leaders they get#. |

The only remedy is if the Nigerian law can be reviewed to make "Godfatherism" a criminal case punishable by 20 Years jail term.....and this is what was launched into our polity by Adedibu (during the Alao Akala eta) and perfected by Tinubu. An outgoing Governor has no business "grooming" another "rogue" to take over from him they should let the electorates vote their consciences. This Saraki's case should be used to extend the same gesture towards corrupt past Governors of this Country especially the street smart bastard rogue called Tinubu. |

Abeyjide:You are wrong...the statement only showed monthly payments from government...if indeed it was salary and pension, i am sure the witness would have stated that.Honestly i agree Saraki is a thief but all these evidences are not enough to nail him. The judiciary is different from the court of opinion....i am sure once the defense counsel begins their own cross examinations..most of these stories go change...However if indeed PMB really wants to fight corruption it shouldn't be those who went against the wish of some perceived godfathers.Ideally we all the foundation of APC was built on corruption likewise PDP....Is saraki the only person with false asset declaration...NO. Atleast 10 ex governors were called to clarify the discrepancies in their asset declaration...why is he an excerption...I AM NOT IN SUPPORT OF SARAKI BUT I JUST FEEL THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION SHOULD BE FAIR. |

From this, one can easily calculate that Saraki gets over N60m a year from public funds as a Senate President and Ex-Governor (who is still being paid the same salary as a Governor). How much does an average Kwaran make a year? Is it even up to N700K? And this is a man that is already worth over $70m (N22bn) just based on his non-Panama declared assets. He is still milking the public funds of N60m a year? |

I doubt all the renditions about Saraki, cause i know Saraki is a saint just as all sinless progressives. As far as it is written that "All APC members are Saints" and Saraki is an APC member, invariably Saraki is a SAINT. |

cktheluckyman:Please think well before posting. No elected executive or legislator draws pension. Thats because it is illegal to draw pension and recieve salary at the same time from the same government. Only the President and Vice are entiled to pension because at their level, you dont expect an ex president to seek election as govern or Senator who draws salary. A former governor as in saraki should not earn pension then salary as a Senator under the cofers of Nigerian government whether LG, state or federal. Ordinarily, its a fraud to draw pension and salary at the same time from same government. Its the same reason why all political office holders cannot earn pension so they collect severance which is like pension of some years paid upfront. Saraki collected severance and now pension. Its absolutely wrong. They can collect the cars the house and medicals periodically but not pension. Pension is for civil servants only. Pension is for civil servants and severance for public servants. Civil servants collect graduity which is a percentage of the pension given upfront. My father is a retiree civil servant and recieves pension from the state government. Its against the law for federal government to employ him because his 35yrs counts whether lg, state or federal and that bars him from salary as a civil servant. Another example, my wife is a civil servant with the state and is qualified for pension if she resigns now. If she gets a federal civil service appointment earning salary without stopping her pension in the state, its a crime. Public service is affected too thats why they cant collect pension at all. So they are only given pension for a period calculated and paid upfront. Infact, it is illegal to draw 2 salaries when 1 of them is with the government. It is only allowed for a retired civil servant to earn salary but when it is not permanent nor pensionable. What saraki has done is a new crime on its own. |
