Take him to the doctor. Ask if they could check for hernia, hopefully it is not. However is it a very simple surgery and the patient is up doing in a short period of time.

5 years into this and it has being a struggle. Type 1 diabetes is hard to manage. We should all watch what we eat. The doctors are not telling us the truth on how to stay clear from this because there's a big market for this insulin drug used for the control. Stay clear from sugary foods, beverages and the rest. If you're addicted to these, you might be getting set for type 1 diabetes
Dairy (especially cow's milk for kids with type 1 history in the family . . . the debate is still on though) and hygiene and climate is a major risk factor for kids and type 1.

If you are a woman with type 1 diabetes and your child was born before you were 25, your child's risk is 1 in 25; if your child was born after you turned 25, your child's risk is 1 in 100.

Your child's risk is doubled if you developed diabetes before age 11. If both you and your partner have type 1 diabetes, the risk is between 1 in 10 and 1 in 4.

There is an exception to these numbers. About 1 in every 7 people with type 1 diabetes has a condition called type 2 polyglandular autoimmune syndrome. In addition to having diabetes, these people also have thyroid disease and a poorly working adrenal gland. Some also have other immune system disorders. If you have this syndrome, your child's risk of getting the syndrome — including type 1 diabetes — is 1 in 2.

Now, all these are not set in stone, leading a healthy life style does help (overall) . . . and dairy is bad for diabetes!

I could go on and on, but then I'd have to mention herbs and other supplements . . . which is not allowed.

BTW, some Sunlight (vitamin D), and exercise is good for everybody, and not all fruits are OK for diabetics.

Diabetes is indeed a disease one should try to avoid because once gotten it cannot be cured but only managed.
Being muscular shields one from diabetes. Forget all those myths about avoiding carbs or starchy foods. The body cannot thrive in a hypoglycemic state. It needs bloodsugar(glucose) which is gotten from mostly carbs.

Hit the gym and lift, avoid smoking and indiscrimimate drinking of alcohol.

Yet some crooks will come here and claim they have 'herbs' that cure diabetes and some people will actually believe them. Diabetes can only be prevented and managed effectively, sadly no cure yet. Let's enlighten ourselves please.
