U might not agree with me on this both d CBN and our Commercial banks havn't gotten it right. Aside from dis one this is nt d first scam through banks. What have d banks put in place to to get the culprit, what have they put in place to refund d money back to d owners account if its transfered to d culprit account with immediate effect?. Our banks itself are scammers CBN and the commercial banks are all thieves. No security to d xtent that a bank staff can scam its customers, deduction of money frm customers account without genuine reason to justify d integrity of d deduction, u cant make complain of ya account being scammed and u're immediately attended to and its being rectified.. I wish all our commercial banks are like STANDARD CHARTERED BANK all these complains will vanish, i giv ma respect to standard chartered bank plc. |

Well, as much as I agree that people should be able to choose their own 4-digit codes themselves, I don't believe it is necessary, because whoever uses *737# to illegally transfer money from someone else's account to their own account has carefully mapped their way to jail. With Biometric BVN registration, the account which that money landed in will identify the thief or their beneficiary, and they will soon get caught. In fact, we need situations like this where thieves will be taught the futility of their crime. Please NigerianMusic, send me the banking details of your friend who got robbed, so I can pass it on to my friends at GTBank so that they use those thieves to set a very good example for the world to see. The GTBank *737# service has been a saviour to me, especially since I don't use internet banking. The stress of banking halls, and waiting on queues, even at Deposit ATMs, all that has ended for me. The problem of running out of mobile recharge credit is now a thing of the past. last year, one of my clients mistakenly transferred N200,000 into my account on December 23rd, and wanted their money back. There was no way I could get to the bank that evening, and by Boxing Day (December 24th) they had stared getting suspicious, and begged me to even send them N170,000 back. I just remembered *737# and transferred their money back. Today, Bar Baric Digital is their most trusted digital marketer, and that trust is invaluable. Also, my staff used to go crazy at the end of the month, when they knew I had their salary, but the only problem was going to the bank to pay. Now, I just text the cash easily. My nephews and nieces in college too, *737# to their bank accounts, no matter the bank. Secondly, as much as the GTBank *737# code is for sending and spending money, funny enough it has actually helped me save more, not only in terms of transportation, and time spent in banking halls, but in fact, I have a savings account with no ATM card, and no withdrawal booklet, so I can't withdraw from it. The only hindrance to depositing money in this account has actually been the stress of going to the banking hall to deposit the cash. With *737#, I simply text between N50,000 and N100,000 to my untouchable Savings Account. By the end of this year, I hope to have saved an extra N1.2 million. The issue I see with the service is the cost, which works well for me, but ay not for others. They charge about a total of N125 for a single transaction. In my case, I'm very happy with spending N125 to post N200,000 to someone else's account. For people transferring N10,000 or less, I hope they have a reviewed price. |

You think a criminal will be so gullible to transfer the said money to his personal account? Such money will be transfered using a third party account and possibly the third party won't knw much abt the criminal.so bvn catches the wrong person. coolbreeze44: |

horsepower24:I expect a lawyer to have a good sense of comprehension. Saying my folk got scammed of 320k doesn't translate to being scammed via the *737# portal. As a lawyer, you shouldn't have concluded like that, won't insult you cos I believe you have learnt something from your mistake. I only brought that instance up to show y'all that the process of recovering stolen fund via fund transfer (whether *737# or others) even with the introduction of BVN isn't as easy and fast as they are presenting it. It is not just tasking but involves more spending, suspense, time consuming and tension between you, family and the bank. I'm speaking from experience here. Don't forget that the victim must continue to live, you know the rest. Peace |

Your comment has proved you don't use the service,if you do you would be aware that th last four digit is what is required and not your ATM pin,you need to make yoiur research and not the OP. olayinkajnr: |

x240:Dude, I don't remember where I said the op lied. Seems comprehending simple English is a problem for you. I said in as much as the op is right, he is wrong about the last 4 digits stuff. That's my assertion and I stand to be corrected which of course you did but trying to buttress your points with an insult is very bad. What I said was my experience with the service and I only use my atm pin code to complete any transaction using 737 service and about the ss, you don't expect me to show you an ss of the point where I input my pin.... But from your ss, I've come to understand that you can either use your atm pin or the last 4 digits of your card (a flaw on the part of gtb). |

dejiboy:Dude, I use the service a lot. But I have never used the last 4 digit of my atm card to authorise any transaction. I always use my atm 4 digit pin... If that works too, how does that mean I don't use service?? Silly conclusion on someone else's assertion. |

nex:You guys just talk rubbish. You don't understand the basics. Gtb and all banks have savings accounts that can be opened by any jack and jill with a dubious id card and nepa bill. Let's assume a thief opens a gtb or another account. steals your phone and atm card at night. Remember you can transfer as much as 150k to a gtb account and 100k to other banks in a day. He transfers 150k at 11pm tonight and transfers another 150k at 1am the next morning. Goes to an atm by 4am and withdraws 150k same day and the rest the next day. That's like 300k cash. It was a weekend and when you resume to the bank on Monday; 300k cash has been withdrawn. Or let's say, he uses the cash transfer to pay for a service or buy goods from a store and has picked up maybe a laptop or a phone worth that amount. Please tell me how BVN would help the account owner retrieve his money. Remember, this is a rogue criminal. His account is just a basic account and all details left are actually hust basic. He can disappear and nothing can be done. That's why prevention is better than cure and why this service is the most stupidi.est thing gtb has ever done. Who pays for the lost money? You guys know nothing. |

olayinkajnr:I didn't insult you. Apologies if you felt insulted just had to talk because you were backing this bank when you don't have the full gists of the story. Would you go on and edit your initial response and state clearly that there is a big flaw in the process. You understand the thousands that would read the misinformation you just passed and take it as holy grail? That's my main grouse with you. You just dont pass information if you don't have the full gists. That's what most Nigerians do. Just say things without having the main facts. Even gtb on their websites and campaign flyers clearly states it is the last 4 digits of your atm card that is used to authenticate the transaction which is massive flaw you would agree. |

Op, why complain. You have just helped the country rid itself of petty criminals like those that robbed your friend. There was bank to bank transfer, therefore there is a trail. Approach the bank and you will be assisted to arrest those culprits. Technology is for convenience and not to discomfort the end user. GT Bank never put into consideration that you would be losing both your phone number and ATM. I wish you the best in recovering what was stolen from you. Make sure you take this complaint to the necessary authorities and post the outcome here. |

coolbreeze44:. In addition, we should all endeavour to raise the bar of our mobile phones security... How did they get access to the Young man's mobile phone to the extent of freely using it to effect the transfers Cybersecurity should be everyone's business now... I bet if he had passworded his mobile phone, it would have taken the criminals a long y me to crack it, by which time, he would have successfully blocked the ATM Card. Don't blame GTBank 737 service because it's the best in Nigeria for now. |

NigerianMusic:Mr OP a beautiful nonsense as you ve termed it. First allow me to say you have made a seemingly sensible average nonsense. Why ![]() Your no 1 suggestion was for customers to choose their pin. Well I guess it made a difference since your friend was attacked and the attackers only made away with his ATM card and phone. Trust me this could only have been done if they are certain that he is with his ATM card and uses GTB. However what you are suggesting only gives room for a more dicey situation. And that is if they have a sure information that he is with any valuables he can be kidnapped and thereby torture his pin out ov him and eventually kill him. In this scenario nothing was left to chance, but in the first, his life was spared. And I can agree with it been optional. But trust me I personally m using this service and enjoying it. It's really convenient. But the truth is, if an evil plan is going to befall someone, only God can stop it. So Mr OP this so-called beautiful nonsense is actually a brilliant strategy for working and living convenience |
