8 Things I Learned From The Co-founder Of Jobberman by diamondchild: 9:43am On Apr 12, 2016
is the largest job search website in west Africa. The site was launched in august 2009, at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. Opeyemi Awoyemi, Ayodeji Adewunmi, and Olalekan Olude are the co-founders of jobberman.

In The just concluded youth enterprise conference organized by Mr Akin Alabi, the founder of nairabet, at the Eko hotel and suite in Lagos, Opeyemi Awoyemi discuss 8 vital key points to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

So check out this fairly 8 key things you must know if you want to be a good entrepreneur.

1. Patience

Patience Is one of the key if you want to be a good entrepreneur, A good entrepreneur must learn how to be patience because it solves all problems. When you feel like quitting all because you are not getting result for your hard work, you don’t have to quit too soon all you have to do is to exercise patience because the size of your patience will also determine the reward and outcome of your effort. Thomas Edison did not quit while inventing bulb, Abraham Lincoln did not quit, despite the fact that he was defeated so many times before he eventually became the president of America.

2. Partnership

If you feel you can’t do it alone, get a support , get a partner. Your partner doesn’t have to be your best friend or your neighbor, roommate, etc as far as he or she is not seeing what you are seeing you can’t make them to become your partner. Your partner must be someone that has the same goal, drive and vision with you. You must see your partner as someone you can achieve great things together, at least Two heads are better than one. Your partner will not only have to support you physically, but materially, emotionally and financially. People like mark zuckerberg of facebook, steve jobs of apple etc They all have partner that took them where they are today.

3. Knowledge

Knowledge is the psychological result of perception and learning and reasoning. Knowledge is power and knowledge is powerful. Everyday gives us a fresh new opportunity to learn something new. We must not neglect the power of studying or learning new skills, course, adventures etc Any opportunity that moves towards our direction, we should always grab it as if it would be our only chance. Acquire knowledge, acquire skills, try something new and study always.

4. Ambition

Everyone should have some ambition in life. An ambition gives meanings and purpose to life and the purpose gives a definite direction to one’s life and induces and inspires him to make efforts to achieve the purpose.

Aim higher, stand tall and dream big. Always have a strong drive for success, a strong desire to do or achieve something.let something always push you up and always ready to take chances, if you want something go get it. Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do it, believe in yourself and always be ambitious.
Dream it. Believe it, achieve it. Lionel messi didn't gave up while pursuing his football career despite the fact that arsene wenger did not gave him the chance to feature in his team, today, he is the best football player on the planet earth. Be ambitious in life and go for gold.

5. Get Advice

Get advice from someone who has done it before or someone who is very close in achieving what you want to achieve. And you must also be careful from who you are getting advice from because there are dream killers and there are dream pillars. Dream killers will always give you the wrong advice which might be detrimental to achieving your goals, while dream pillars will always help you build your dreams with the necessary pillars to hold on so that it won’t ever fall. They are the ones you can rely on anyday, anytime, anywhere. So get advice from the ones your heart leads you to, it might be your religion leader, lawyer, friends, co-worker, partner etc. the fact that you are seeking their advice will encourage them to do their best because they ‘ll realize that you count them as a professional, special and important for seeking their help.

6. Age

Many people keep having issue with age factor when it comes to starting something NEW, I tell you, no one is too old or too young to start and achieve great things. No age restriction, they are some people who actually picked up a guitar at a very young age like 12 while some picked up their guitar at 45 and they both arrived at the same answer.
Many successful business owners today started their career either at young age or at old age and they doing very fine and great. You shouldn’t let age factor be your barrier when starting an idea. The only thing one is to START NOW!

7. Raising money

Never start a project with the mindset of raising money from it initially, this might ruin your project too early. Just take things one after the other, believe in your idea, believe in yourself and believe in God. Do the right things, fix whatever is necessary to make your business standout definitely your business will flourish.

8. Focus.

This one last thing you can’t miss out is total focus, avoid distractions, avoid any form of time wasting schedule that will drain your energy and consume your time without allowing you to achieve what you ‘re supposed to. Be committed, avoid any form of distractions be self disciplined and be 100% focused. Imagine while working on your project with your internet connection and you saw a quick adverts that pops up behind the right hand screen of your computer that says make $100 in one hour. By which you eventually clicked, then you absolutely lose focus. You might be lost and need to re arrange yourself again before you can continue from where paused. So while working on new ideas or projects, let’s be focused and avoid any form of distractions.

Hope this article has helped you one way or the other, if it really does help your Friends and family out there by sharing to them, see you at the top.

The one thing I have come to realise in life, be it in business, relationship, education, etc, is you can't always have a smooth sail, there will be hard times, times when you will feel, no this is not for me. But if you can hang in there, sacrifice what need to be sacrificed, you will be great. That's why every successful person who worked for his success always have a story.

it's not about jobberman, it's about how you can build a business from scratch and take it to the top like the founders of jobberman did.

I agree. But getting to the top is the easy part. Staying at the top and remaining there is the hard part. Just ask companies like Kodak and Nokia.I personally Dont see the added value jobber man provides compared to sites like hotnigerianjobs. But we like hype in Nigeria rather than tangible value added and when you give your opinion you are labelled bad belle or hater or what have you achieved. I wish them the best but the perception people have about their company leaves a lot to be desired.
