Wallade:abia has a decent potential for seaport. If that is too far-fetched, ibaka in the SS is also a perfect option. I wonder why all those people that want igbos to leave Lagos are fighting for a rail that Connects both regions. It is time to put their money where their mouths are. Build a seaport and scrap any useless railway that would not help the eastern economy In the long run. |

asorocker:but purchase of Keke napep, construction of town halls, purchase of wheelbarrows, saloon kits, shovels, diggers, plates etc serves Nigeria a lot of useful purpose abi? Don't feign ignorance as per how Ekwe and his cohorts diverted the money for the proposed rail project to the purchase of shovels, diggers, saloon kits, Keke napep and other less important things. |

ajealadick:I really do not blame him. He understands his people and he knows the only to keep getting support and love from them is to tell them what they want to hear, thus: Buhari hates them, Yorubas and Igbos hate them and they're being marginalized in Nigeria. With these words, you don't need to stress yourself in trying to provide dividends of democracy like providing infrastructure and empowering people economically as you'll become a darling of the Igbos. That's the only crime the likes of Ngige committed against his people, by not being a bigot. |

asorocker:Even if the ports are up and running, most importers would still prefer using Lagos port for the following reasons: 1. Most vessels that bring in goods from abroad are enroute Lagos being the base of major importers. The shipping companies are into business and they would not because of a good that is less than 5% of the total cargos and change their route to the east. 2. Major bulk breakers prefare picking their stocks in Lagos as it is just like going into the market where varieties of what you need can be seen and purchased. 3. Larger chunk of the imported goods are consumed in the S/W and neighbouring states ( I know you might want to argue this), e.g, 2015 FRSC report confirmed that over 45% of vehicles in Nigeria are in Lagos alone. 4. It is much easier for the importers to transport their goods from Lagos to other parts of the country than anywhere else. 5. Major facilities needed for smooth importation are located in Lagos. Take for instance, when the Federal government wanted to concession the fercilities in Nigeria ports, over 85% of the concessioneer S showed interest in Lagos ports only. The truth is that major traders prefare to do their business in the hub. Other countries examples: 1. South Africa has over 5 ports but majority of importation activities are done in Jo'bourg. 2. Same with Kenya and Egypt. |

Goke7:The FG should take the project as a priority and bring it to fruition. Railway would not have as much impact on the eastern economy like a seaport would. The FG should build a seaport first, and build a railway after. You accuse and taunt them of flooding Lagos for economic opportunity. Give them the wherewithal to build their own Lagos. |
| Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Wallade(m): 9:30am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Gext22:I asked that question to determine how stupid you could be. You mentioned Ibaka and also indicated that it is located in the South-South so that is a wrong answer. The question focused on South-East. You mentioned Abia and I couldn't stop wondering if there is a sea near Abia. When you talk about seaport, you don't mean river port or poolport. It has to be a seaport which is equipped to handle ships of, at least, moderate sizes. Even Calabar and Port-Harcourt sea ports can not handle or accommodate some vessels. As popular as Lagos seaport is, it also can't handle some big vessels. What did you do with education, even if it is substandard, Google is your friend. |

Kollyman:SA has five ports. Nigeria should build more standard ports like Lagos and let water find its level. |

I don't want to believe he said that. If he did, it's quite unfortunate. I am also being provoked daily by the govt and I'm not igbo. No light, no fuel, no work, salaries not being paid and this dude and his pple r buying cars and keeping quiet. When people are incompetent and irresponsible, they look for irrelevant issues to divert attention. You can't fool everybody.....just small minded tribalists. |

asorocker:It shows how ignorant some of you people are, Calabar to lagos is not about ports. Just to highlight a few benefits, it's aids the movement of people and goods, which means less traffic on the roads and so the roads in the south south through south east through to Lagos Last longer. It helps farmers and manufacturers in the south east and south west get their goods to Lagos and the south west and vice versa. The calabar to Lagos line passes through and stops at Warri, uyo, aba, PH, yenegoa, otuoke, ughelli, sapele, benin, agbor, asaba, onitsha, ijebu-de, sagamu If you manufacture goods in Aba or NNewi and you want to sell to the west african sub regional markets, is it not easier to put your goods on a train bound for Lagos where we know people from all over the west African coast come to buy things? People should stop cutting their noses to spite their faces. You say it benefits Lagos/sw but who are the biggest traders in Nigeria? who are the people in the south west trading? who are the people noving goods up and down the country if not Ibos? |

okeyglm:2nd Niger Bridge was never removed, it has a budget of Over 2 billion naira..... We dont need any railway system from Lagos.... we need a seaport in Calabar. That railway will benefit you Yorubas more yet your senators did not say anything |
| Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Goke7: 9:40am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Gext22:Cross river is already planning one which has the blessings of FG, there is nothing wrong in railway dear, stop the politics. FG has just approved more international flight destinations for the SE from Enugu and an indigenous airline for that. This will reduce the heavy traffic in Lagos airports and create more economic activities in the SE. |

garfield16:We know by the time it gets to Portharcourt from Lagos, it will stop ..... and thats all you ppl need , access to Crude oil via rail since pipe line vandals gives you ppl headache....who are you fooling, this is 2016 we Niger deltans are wise now. Why do I have to send my goods to Lagos to be exported when there is sea in Portharcourt and Calabar or is the sea at Lagos different from these ones....Amaechi added the project because the 54 billion Naira he wanted to steal was discovered....why would somebody from the same region forget such project if he meant it. he is a bloody criminal and we know him. |

| Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Gext22: 9:50am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Wallade:of course you wouldn't know about the proposed seaport in abia state, you mindless simpleton. I am not as particular with having any seaport in the Se as I am with having a very standard one in close proximity to the eastern region due to the obvious advantages to the east, which was why I gave the Ibaka example. A waterway that has the capacity for much bigger ships and has a much longer coastline than Lagos. |
