Cross river is already planning one which has the blessings of FG, there is nothing wrong in railway dear, stop the politics. FG has just approved more international flight destinations for the SE from Enugu and an indigenous airline for that. This will reduce the heavy traffic in Lagos airports and create more economic activities in the SE.
A seaport is not a job for the state government alone. The FG either deliberately or otherwise is taking up irrelevant projects and leaving vital ones to the largely incompetent States. Smh
The enugu airport deal had been in progress long before buhari got In.
In fact, it had to take a daughter of the soil to make that airport international after years of deliberate neglect.

of course you wouldn't know about the proposed seaport in abia state, you mindless simpleton.
I am not as particular with having any seaport in the Se as I am with having a very standard one in close proximity to the eastern region due to the obvious advantages to the east, which was why I gave the Ibaka example.
A waterway that has the capacity for much bigger ships and has a much longer coastline than Lagos.
OK. It has to be South-South then. Your description of Ibaka waterways really makes it attractive for a port proposal. I vote for a port in Ibaka - South-South. grin

Thank you for the information. I wish you a lovely day.

A seaport of Lagos class in the SS would be tremendous for the east.
Have a good day too.

I didn't want to dignify you with a response earlier but when I saw this rejoinder you made, I felt the need to make a position.

Let's look critically at the existence of a Lagos - Calabar railine. It will pass through a lot of states where there can be stop overs and products, both locally manufactured and imported raw materials or unfinished goods, can be delivered timely, efficiently and effectively at less cost.

It is only logical to take more advantage of Lagos port because of proximity and the ability of the port to accommodate bigger vessels. Why do you think it is so convenient for ships to stop in Lagos rather than other ports in Nigeria.

Moreover, ships can also stop at Calabar ports too and the products can be distributed via the rail lines to states along the Calabar - Lagos route.

Have you thought of all the trailers/tankers falling and traffic on the interstate roads. Do you know how many heavy duty trucks move goods along the interstate roads managing the risks along such roads. Do you think about wear and damages to those roads due to the constant use especially by heavy duty trucks.

Your problem is basic - your thoughts are shallow. How could someone like you possibly think out of the box?
Lagos - Calabar railway is good and needs to be done; but you must understand & address the peoples' concerns appropriately.

You can't sit in your house and determine whats' best for you and do the same for the others. If the people from the other side wants a seaport first, lets understand it and work towards making it available instead of all these noise from your quarter in telling people what's good for them or not. You/your people knows absolutely nothing about what the others feel or the challenges they face; so, you/your people should stop all these I-Know-It-All mentality and face issues challenging your communities.

Thank you.

oh so the states are now incompetent, thought you guys said the PMB's FG is incompetent, the way you guys speak from both ends of the mouth is so amazing. Yes the enugu project deal has been on the cards yet your beloved hero did not approve it ba? Even if PMB build a seaport for you guys now, you will credit to the previous govt. You guys are playing politics without common sense all because of a failed party called the Peoples destruction party otherwise known as pdp.

PMB is even too nice for my liking, he would have left it to your daughter of the soil to come and approve it for you. smh

Point noted and taken. However, I don't think there is any complain or opposition from every community and states the proposed rail line would access. grin

These are the type of leaders we need in igboland. I just found a new respect for Ekweremmadu since this Buhari's regime. Anyway, the failure of Buhari and APC has shown that Nigeria cannot progress without igbos. Nigeria is already a failed state. I just pity the next president that will take over from Buhari
Why would you find respect in such a man-ekweremadu? He is part of the ignoble elite in this country that has ruined everything for the rest of us. Look at the whole Igbo land, what have the leaders done for ndigbo? What major investment has he brought to igboland to occupy the unemployed? How has he used his position to discourage the looting by the governors down to slag chairmen?

For me, there's no respect for ekerremadu. He's trying to fan ethnic sentiment in his favor.

Ekweremadu should shut up his fucking mouth already. He and his Igbo cronies in the national assembly are the ones shortchanging the igbos for their selfish interest. When his party held sway for 16 years, what did he in particular and his party in general do for the igbos? Now he thinks he has a clean hands and so must go to equity. With the kind of support the Igbos gave Ekweremadu's party for 16 years, that part of Nigeria should be the most developed but for greedy and selfish motherfuckers like Ekweremadu.

Where did you see me calling Lagos no man's land. The point I am trying to make is the economic benefits that the Lagos Calabar rail line will serve. If it is to ship imported goods from Lagos to Calabar then the project is dead on arrival.

Nigeria is in big economic mess the right thing is to expand the economic base of the nation with the little resources the country can get .open up the coastal maritime economy of the Niger delta so that agricultural products from benue, taraba, adamawa, nassarawa can be evacuated easily .the loan should be used to build a deep sea port in Calabar and a rail line to the north eastern part of the country.
God bless Nigeria.

Did you not hear that the project was not in the budget submitted to the national assembly by Buhari in the first place ? The question should be Why ? Why would it be Amaechi including it during budget defence ? The minister is there to defend the budget already submitted and instead of doing that, he brings a new one. Need I not remind you that it is the president and not ministers that send budgets to the National assembly. The big question is : Why was the project not included in the proposal submitted by Buhari ?
pls who is the minister working for? do you think ameachi can include any project in that budget without the consent of pmb or is he (amaechi) going to use his own money for the project ***common sense*** for the fact that the proposal has nt been concluded before buhari submitted the budget does nt mean that the project is nt meant to be there

The Lagos Calabar rail serves Nigeria no useful purpose .importing goods into Lagos ports and shipping them via rail line to the Eastern coast is an economic blunder. The right thing is to use every available funds to develop deep sea ports in Calabar and link Calabar to the north and Abuja via a rail line.
the reason I just want to say something on your comment is not to abuse or looking down on you but to correct the impression of majority of you that saying lagos- calabar rail serve no purpose to the development of the country or to the people of south south-south east. In any economic development or in a developed country one those factors that make their country a better land is good transportation system. You should be able to know that, the cost of production will definitely be cheaper when there is a good transport. Easy and safe movement of people and goods will be enhanced. It will also bring industries to calabar and it's environs. Also our roads linking lagos - will be safe due to the fact that, lorries and trailers carrying goods will be reduced etc. Please don't support people saying it has nothing to benefit calabar or the entire country as they are saying.

This is another ploy to use ordinary Nigerians to achieve personal ambition. Nigerian politicians have always used the method of "Divide and Rule" for personal agenda. This useless Deputy Senate President is trying to use this method when he knows that his days are numbered. The impending storm that will carry Saraki will definitely sweep him too and he's much aware of that. He can shout and cry for al we care, he will definitely loose that seat. He has benefitted no Igbo man and his position has no benefit to any Igbo man. Useless buffon

We Are No Longer Safe In Bayelsa, Igbo Traders Tell Police.

Igbo traders in Bayelsa State, yesterday, marched the streets of Yenagoa, the state capital, in protest of the continual murder of Igbo businessmen in the state capital by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers and hired assassins.
They were particularly angry over the gruesome murder of Agodo Martins by gunmen at his Yenagoa residence early hours of Monday.
The hoodlums were said to have broken into the house of Martins, who owns a popular boutique called Omars Fashion Plaza at the Ompadec area of the Yenagoa-Mbiama Road.
It was gathered that the gunmen who stormed the house of Martins located at the Punch Road area demanded money from their victim.
The deceased reportedly told his assailants that there was no cash at home because shops in the capital city were shut down for about four days in honour of the late Governor of the state, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who was buried on Saturday.
After ransacking his house, the gunmen were said to have shot and killed Martin in cold blood in the presence of his new wife.
The traders led by the President, Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC), Chief Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, also lamented that Martin was killed a few days after gunmen suspected to be assassins murdered another successful Igbo businessman, Ugochukwu, popularly called Ugo Best.
It was gathered that Ugochukwu was killed along the Azikoro village on his way home after business of that day.
A source who spoke in confidence said: “He was close to his house in company with his wife when gunmen operating in commercial tricycles blocked his car. They dragged him out of the car and forced into the tricycle.
“His corpse was discovered the next day at the Azikoro cemetery with his hands and legs tied up. He was a successful businessman who built a big house at the Azikoro village. We are scared”.
The traders also related how another businessman was gruesomely murdered at the Tombia area adding that others were being harassed and injured by arm-bearing youths.
The traders assembled at the front of Omars boutique, forced shops to close down and marched with anger to the state command of the police.
They were received by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Peter Ogunyawo, and other senior police officers.
Presenting their grievances, Arthur-Ugwa said: “The Igbos are no longer safe in Bayelsa. We are being killed by gunmen. One was killed at Azikoro, the other one was killed at Tombia and today another one who just got married was killed in cold blood.
“We are not happy and we have closed down our business to come and tell you at the headquarters that we are not safe. If you cannot guarantee our safety, we will relocate our business and families out of the state. We are pleading for your assistance”.
Ogunyawo in his response, told the grieving traders that crimes exist everywhere and were not targeted at the Igbos.
He said death is one debt everybody must pay and that nobody knows how it will be paid.
He said the command was doing everything possible to check the crime wave in the state and asked the traders to furnish the police with information to enable them become effective.
“We can’t be effective if you don’t partner with us. Once you have feelings of any crime, let us know. You don’t need to run to anywhere because crimes exist everywhere”, he said.
