Hello, my name Adebola and I am writing this story on behalf of my brother who is a SS3 student at APOSTOLIC FAITH SECONDARY SCHOOL, ADATAN, ABEOKUTA. This incident happened on the 15th of April, 2016 at about 11pm. The normal time for light out in the school is 10pm but due to the ongoing WAEC exams the school authorizes that light out be moved to 11pm to unable the students read for an extra hour.


It was reported that some students were playing ball in the dining hall which is on the first floor of the hostel building, during the one hour duration for night prep while others were reading on their beds in the hostel which is on the second floor of the same building....
The two house masters in charge of the male hostel were unable to control those playing ball, so they decided to take out the electricity fuse of the hostel. While they were at it, the students playing ball on the first floor had locked them out and on their return they were unable to gain entrance into the hostel. .
One of the house masters in the person of THEOPHILUS SUNDAY jumped into the first hostel on the second floor through the window and bounced on the first person he saw, who happens to be my brother.
My brother said he was on his friend's bed and they were both studying and suddenly they heard a rush from beside them, they got up to find out what was happening and saw that someone jumped in through the window, since it was dark and they couldn't see the face, they assumed it was a student. .
He said, suddenly someone (THEOPHILUS SUNDAY) started blowing him on the head, as he tried to get his balance; THEOPHILUS SUNDAY took a mop stick and starting using it to flog him all over his body till he was pushed to the ground. THEOPHILUS SUNDAY pounced on the next student and did the same.

Nawa ooo!This is wickedness!

When I was growing up, stuffs like this are usually not really a big deal but these days n social media, everyone wants to make some traffic.

Students mess up, students get flogged, n sometimes, some get more than they actually deserve but it's part of life.

So OP, follow ur brother to have a strong word with the guy. Don't fight him, students were too rude n even ur brother (as a senior student) could have talked to his cohorts instead of reading in a noisy environment.

This "soft" generation must not remove flogging from the curriculum. Flogging is very good at the right dosage.

During my secondary school days, house master used fist instead of cane. Next!

With the way things are going, students will soon start beating teachers.

You locked your housemaster outside after disobeying an order to stop playing football in the hall at night.

I remember Igbogi college in those days, six strokes each for all of you! These pictures can't even be called graphic at all

In fact sef, my dad has flogged me with cane before wey teacher sef ask say how far!

Discipline is key and you can't completely separate discipline from corporal punishment.

We are where we are today by the grace of God though

Did you read the story at all. I'm sure the brother even lied but if he didn't, what the students did deserve a severe punishment . If u happen to fall in d wrong place as at the time, tough luck. Spare the rod and spoil the child. We pass through worst than this.

For Christ sake, this is child abuse... The house master should not go unpunished, what an heartless being he is!

If it were My own father, he go first ask u how many of una de class? How many were punished? Why was I among those punished? Is the teacher mad that he will beat me without any offence? If I'm not even careful, he go punish me join. Lol. And guess what, that's how I will raise my child. I know some teachers are devilish, but I won't react over a case like this Cos the offence deserves severe punishment. Mind u this children can lie.

U knw d number of times Broda Sunday has being warning dem to stop playing football at nyt? Atleast we all knw how SS3 students doing waec used to behave, (like dem dey ontop of d world) but dat does nt gv Broda Sunday d privilege to turn to Mayweather

I was expecting something CHALLENGING.

most of our OLDEN DAYS mothers did worse than this.

OLDEN DAYS mothers were able to beat FOOLISHNESS out of children.
Some of us were BATHED with very HOT WATER.
some of us SAT on FIRE.
some of our MUM acquired phD in maltreatment.


In fact, when asked to go home from SCHOOL some of us preferred staying back at school.
We were flogged both at SCHOOL and CHURCH.

It's tagged child abuse, and most 1st world Nigerians think it's part of being civil. But we see how 'civilized' societies are coping from protecting their wards from such abuse.

This is rubbish! what was the OP thinking when he posted this? what I'm seeing up there isn't in any way maltreatment. Your brother, even from his account, is tending towards hooliganism. How dare him and his cohorts lock his teachers outside? Kids of nowadays sef. And this generation, I pray social media and mimickery of western idiocy won't cause us more than we can deal with.

true but this is extreme..my papa no get chill at all..he won't even listen to any reason...all this marks..lol the teacher is a gonner
