Jail is not what scares politicians. Rather it is the fact that they are barred from holding political office after such conviction. Political office is the bread and butter of these guys.

Once Saraki is convicted ( even without jail time), watch his influence and friends recede into nothing. Politics is is a cruel game between consenting adults.
