hello friends i am in digital marketing but i want to know what is work of website developer and website designer

Web Designers are basically graphic designers.

A web developer programs the back end of a website for functionality.

A webmaster is knowledgeable in all the aspects mentioned above plus SEO and Web Marketing...... note "knowledgeable", doesnt mean he is the one doing it. But he can advice, suggest, etc.

A WEB DESIGNER deals equally in codes... a front-end programmer... that is codes that takes care of the the layout, the visuals, the colors, the textures, the arrangements.....what the eyes can see.

A WEB DEVELOPER is a back-end programmmer... deals on the functionalities, the server side codes, the security and the likes that happens behind the scene.

A web designer can also be a developer, likewise a developer being a designer.

A web designer is more concerned with User Interface(UI) of the site, what users interact with. Previously, a web designer could get by with knowledge of Photoshop/Gimp/inkscape. He would create the PSD(graphic of what the website would look like), and hand it over to guys who transform their work to webpages.
These days, most web designers also add knowledge of HTML, CSS and maybe JavaScript to their skill set. These languages are referred to as Front-End languages.

A web developer, on the other hand, has a much larger scope. You should be able to translate the designs the web designer makes to code. Also master some back-end languages (Php and Mysql or Ruby), ensure websites load quickly and conform to web standards. Securing web servers and knowing how to work on the Server end could also be part of the portfolio.

A web designer creates static website yl a web developer creates a dynamic website. D former cannot be called a programmer cos he/she uses just markup languages and cascading style sheets but d developer must use javascript,php,sql etc.

Web designer is that fellow that do front-end framework and styling of web pages. He bother on where the header of the pages will be, where the body and footer will be, the web pages color, images, and animation.
Web developer is another fellow that carries the burden of the logic, intelligence and database structure of the web pages that web designer has creatively put together.

What of me who skips all this and use website services like dem squarespace, to me nothing is new, I save meself stress..

web designer is dat guy who copy and paste any available html/css templates, wp themes and use it to design static web pages or make use of wp themes(i.e already made site) to design dynamic site and start forming don and you can easily hack their sites cox they don't even know how most of all those already made codes works while web developer is the real gee(don) who can use notepad to write codes for both d design, d programing and database aspect without looking for already made things and he has knowledge about security.

For those of you using wp as shortcut method to design website when you don't even know anything about php, mysqli/mysql, js, css use in it, you are on a long thing cox one day when that site crash or get hacked, u wil just be looking like dondi.

like what posters above have rightly said, website designers are basically the guys who handle front end while website developers are the guys in the task of handling backend, programming the functionality of the site. In recent times, the gab between website designer and website developer is fast closing up. the same tools website developers use are fast becoming the same tool web designers use, as such they both do each others task most often.

There's no time to it, just start as soon as u have the passion for it. As time goes by, u'll be measuring your progrress and you either get frustrated and leave or you get more enthusiastic and be ready to face more of the challenge. as time goes you'll become more convinced this is what you want to do for the rest of your life.

Like every aspects in life, there's always the good side and the bad side. The good side, web developers are much in demand in the labour market today, i read vacancies very often and i can testify to you there are companies looking to hire good developers, the bad side is that, if you want to stay solo, you'll not be havin jobs to work on regularly, u can stay months without a project.

There's more i can talk about but, i think it'll be better i leave it at this, the basic thin in this profession is fulfillment.
