The SS makes both human and resource contributions to the national coffers. Lots of technocrats of SS extraction have contributed their quota in getting the nation to this point in her storied journey.

They are just as entrepreneurial as their Igbo counterparts. Delta state alone contributes a whole lot in this regard, not to mention the whole SS combined.

They have lazy people, agreed, but what region doesn't?

It may not mean much to you, but the generosity of the people alone is just as much a contribution as any.
They do not think little of anyone because the nation draws from oils deposited in their backyard.

It's a natural resource, fine, but how many of your folks will allow others take from that mango in their backyard?

Should incase you think little of how much contributions oil alone makes to the Nigerian economy, check out these Swiss oil trading firms: Vitol and Trafigura. Vitol alone makes $270b in revenue per annum.

Lots of factors in Nigeria contribute to not give us clearer picture of things.

Not impossible for someone that has just lost a well-paid job in the oil and gas sector to come here and say derogatory things about the Niger Delta. How else does one interpret a question like this by this OP? For generations, over 90% of our revenue in Nigeria have been coming from SS and whatever good we have done today as a nation is made possible by that fact. In fact, if Niger-Deltans have been Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa/Fulani, they would have separated from Nigeria long time ago. Every generation defines its own struggle, that is why the first and second generations of Niger Deltans did what they thought was the right thing to do: agitating peacefully for the betterment of their people. Nigerians murdered them! So the generation that followed decided to take up arms to fight for what rightly belong to them, they have been successful and have now moved on to relying on politics and the rule of law as a tool for channeling their grievances.

In the history of Nigeria, the Niger Deltans are the only people that have given the best accounts of themselves, which-ever way we slice it; they don`t just produce the first Ph.D President Nigeria ever had, but the first to respect the electoral process in a way no-one has ever respected it in the history of our country.
What we need in our country today is unity and prosperity, we can only achieve that by taking intelligent political decisions. Nigeria should be providing leadership for Africa, but that won`t happen through tribal bashing. This thread is a mistake and I hope the OP can apologise for starting it. If not, then tell us which region of Nigeria you come from and what personal reason(s) you have for starting this insulting thread.

No it is meant to get people to stop comparing Nigeria to the UK/EU

I am from the south south and while we are not known for anything apart from drinking ogogoro and being lazy according to the Op at least we are not the first tribe that comes to mind for drug pushing, yahoo yahoo, ritual murders, beggers, armed robbery and a whole lot of ills. We also have so many families where a BSc or BA is the least qualification. There is no field of practice in this country where you do not have South Southerners Medicine, law, engineering, literature, beauty pageantry sef we are represented. Population and size wise we are small but unfortunately the intellectuals have left politics and therefore rulership to those whose interest is their personal pockets and so we have not made progress as we should.

Militancy is not a crime, check what it means. As for kidnapping,;Yes the militants kidnapped a lot of foreigners and locals , I will be lying if I denied that. The topic of this thread should be- What area of life endeavor is the Niger delta known for?

You can then list Igbo, Yoruba Hausa etc and the areas they are known for.

For me most of the people of Niger delta are very lazy folks. Their youths lazy about, drinking ogogoro, engaging in cultism and killing themselves, relying on politicians to dash them money, extorting money from business shops and offices illegally, extorting money from taxi/bus drivers illegally, blocking oil company/multi national companies gates from time to time and requesting for money, extorting money from contractors who are repairing/constructing the roads in their community, blowing of pipelines and engaging in oil theft, millitancy etc.

count the Ndoki people of Rivers state out of the above mentioned, also count the Igbo speaking areas of Delta state out of this, they are hardworking. There may be other hardworking ones among the rest which i dont know.

I never use d word Igbo in my post to describe the OP. I used IPOB tout. For me, even though IPOB tout are Igbo, not all Igbo are IPOB tout. So i am very conscious of dat truth. I never use d word Igbo.

Ezekwesili, Ngige, Eboyi state PDP Governor David Nweze Umahi are Igbo but they are not an IPOB tout.

IPOB and Igbo race are different.
