even if their was a doctor what would he have done, I read the nurses were saying, no this no that, may be the doctor in quote have seen how epileptic the hospital is.
during my service year we had a lady that was in labour, we rushed here to a nearby hospital, lo and behold, their was no doctor no bed not even a disposable gloves. we had to catch the baby like that. thank God for being a God of women. He saved this woman and her new baby.
Those sick or in need of medical attention in this country survived by God's grace because this country seems like a hole. Even ants are more organized than we are in this country

Road safety no fuel in their car, then no doctor and painkillers in an hospital and the nurses running here and there looking for nothing. What a shame. And to the surviving doctors I hope they will learn better in handling emergency when patients are rushed to their hospitals because this is what common and poor Nigerians pass through in seeking for medical attention
You spoke my mind. And some educated minds will condemn anyone who calls this place a zoo! Anyway, let me mind my own business.

So FRSC could not fuel their vehicles to save lives?
Don't mind, very soon the FRSC will say the driver of the bus has no driver's license

FRSC does not have petrol, and they are working for the government can we say the petrol that the government don;t fuel all the cars they have? and the nearest hospital's doctor is nowhere to be found, when the devil has something evil to do he has someone on the inside to use which is the doctor, and the stupid nurses are busy looking for shadows in the day when they clearly don't have the necessary requirements, and we cannot say they should shut down the hospital because we all know the government will not still construct the road and that stupid hospital will be the nearest that will always be available. better all staffs in that hospital be sacked and replaced with ppl who are ready to work and yet they will still use connection for those who will be employed and they will be lazy too. Nigeria has so many problems that is yet to be discovered. may the soul of the departed rest in Peace and God will comfort the families they left behind cry.

People don't want to hear the truth. I am so ashamed of our generation, despite being graduates and what have you. Some of us still reason like stack illiterates. The zoo is even more organized than Nigeria of today. Nothing is working except lies and empty promises

From Fayose declaring 3 days mourning to one

institution declaring 7 days mourning, Does that

solve the problem? CAPITAL NO.

Rather than taking proactive approach in

empowering medical units and road safety, the

opposite is the case.

Nigerian politicians clearly do not have the

interest of Nigerians at heart.

Nigeria as a whole is in a State of Emergency,

Urgent rescue is needed as the future isn't

looking rosy.

As much as I sympathize with the victims, my question is why the NMA bus had no first aid kit in it.

Part of the blame should go to the doctor's for negligence. They were going on a long journey and a trip they were to spend some days and there was no first aid kit.

What if the accident had involved another vehicle and they got to the scene what would they have done? Blame a local clinic/ hospital for absence of doctors or blame the FRSC for not having fuel?
Re: How 6 Ekiti Doctors Died, Survivor Recounts - Vanguard by emenezer(m): 2:11pm On Apr 26, 2016
No doctor on seat, no pain killers, no fuel= no value for human life, so long as Naija is concerned.

Okay. Are you saying principalities and powers don't exist?
Am saying they not responsible for all our misfortunes.

And the jury is still out on weather they are real or not.

Driver was inexperienced. When ur tire burst never press break. I learnt that here.

Which unit is working in nija? None , imagine u are on your own even at a point of death. I bet u emergency unit is up and running even in countries like syria,Iraq etc . If i say nija is not qualify to be called a country some will say i m insane. Even a dog in a sane society can not be treated the way those doctors were handled.

You are so on point.
Charity begins at home ( with due respect to the dead. May their souls rest in peace).
They were embarking on a journey by road, that vehicle should at least have basic first aid kit as doctors.
Lets all learn from mistakes made
Let us all imbibe safety culture whether in our homes, offices, cars, anywhere.
So sad

What should the government do? Fix tyres of travellers?
Re: How 6 Ekiti Doctors Died, Survivor Recounts - Vanguard by Meritocracy: 3:24pm On Apr 26, 2016
RIP to the dead. I believe the survivors have experience what people experience when taking accident victims
to the hospital and the doctors start requesting for police report. They need to stop the rubbish due to the experience.

Nigeria sure has a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go. Such a pity, the monies meant for quality health care services and good roads have been shared amongst politicians and their cohorts.

Shame!

The govt can at least spend more on quality health care and make sure
ALL hospitals are equipped with quality equipment and drugs, ambulances and 24hours health care services.

All these are achievable but the monies meant for them is being used to service the luxurious lifestyles of the elite class...

Buhari has so many unresolved issues ; the man that can't forgive , started on vendettive and revenge, so many innocent souls and lives wasted and are still being wasted due to his ambition to rule the country at all cost, these souls wasted are still crying for justice ,lopsided in his thinking and appointment cannot never be successful no matter how he try. Those expecting something different from what we experiencing now from Buhari would be disappointed, except he Buhari takes every Nigerians whether North or South as his own, and ask sincerely for forgiveness. Till then, expect more calamities.

That part where you said maybe these doctors need to experience this so that they can have a feel of what countless number of patients go through due to their negligent attitude has been my thought since yesterday; just that I've been loathe to say it so people wouldn't tag me with bad names. Who knows whether the doctor who should be on duty was in his private hospital? Too many patients experience this daily but no one talks about it.
What goes round comes round! May God continue to bless the hardworking doctors who have the interest of their patients at heart!
Its like you don't know that once you leave the major cities that most government hospitals don't have enough doctors especially in the north. You will be shocked to know that there may be only 2 doctors employed in that hospital and there will be times when there is simply no one on duty. We have a huge manpower gap in the health sector especially in the north. Ask Corper doctors up north how many patients they see daily. Its mind-boggling.
No manpower, no emergency equipment or drugs.
My brother every morning when you wake up in Nigeria, your prayer should be Lord, please let me not encounter anything that will make me require emergency medical or rescue service today.

All right, but if this were the case, why does the NMA say there are more doctors than can be employed in Nigeria? Why don't they just employ more doctors?
It starts from the Uni, why don't they admit more medical students since very many apply so they can fill the vacuum in places where there are no docs?
What do you think?...are you doc?

I am a very senior doc. I don't know if I ever heard that statement from NMA but if it was said, the person is very ignorant. Most doctors want to work in federal hospitals in big towns so in a way that may be true. As for admitting mor medical students, it isn't possible because we don't have the capacity. There is a maximum number of students you can train at a time for proper clinical learning.
We need more medical schools more medical lecturers, more doctors to work in rural areas with incentives. I can go on and on.
I know there are some negligent Nigerian doctors. Even the training is not as good as it uses to be. So many factors involved. Some abandon their duty posts in rural areas. But that is the rot in this country. It affects every sector.
We need an urgent reshaping of this country.
