Anwuli Chikere Withdraws From Moro’s Trial by midolian(op): 11:23am On Apr 27, 2016
Anwuli Chikere, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, has withdrawn from the trial of Abba Moro, former minister of interior, citing personal reasons.

In March, Justice Chikere granted Moro bail on self-recognition, and had adjourned the case to April 27 for trial.

However, as the case was called on Monday, she announced her withdrawal from it.

“I am sending it back to the chief judge of the federal high court for reassignment on personal reasons,”Chikere said. “When it is reassigned, the prosecution can go after it.”

Moro is accused of defrauding 676,675 job seekers of N676,675,000 in an immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of at least 20 young Nigerians.

Threat may have been made to her life. Or she found out the prosecution is not genuinely for the masses but for political reasons which then conflicts with her conscience.

I'm sure some power brokers are behind this, They want her to go against the judicial norm, So she had to withdraw.

Amazing decision.....citing personal reasons. grin

This could be no time to study, technicalities, lack of depth, poor argument, no fuel, no light, inability to pick up Jonathan for questioning, traffic on the road, heavy files to study..etc

Great decision

Exactly!... The judiciary under this dullardic administration is very appalling. The system has been compromised.

She is a female Judge, and maybe the seat is becoming hotter for her. I like what she did. When a judge knows that he is likely to be biased in a matter before him due to some circumstances, he or she(the court) should withdraw from the matter, this is to still preserve integrity and probity in the profession..This should be encouraged!

I think what should be done in the spirit of fairness and due process to former Minister of the federal republic of Nigeria (Moro) is to confiscate what ever assset he must have acquired post emergence as minister, have him undergo a community service for couple of years and sponsor one from each of the twenty families who lost their wards.
This is only fair
