In Nigeria we mourn too much. Pray too much and fast too much. All these solve nothing. A girl simply fainted in my school in u.s today and within 2 minutes, two ambulances and two cop cars were at the scene and after stabilizing her they carried her to the hospital. When Ocholi died from an accident. We cried and cursed the devil. Has that averted this accident? What has been done since then to make that road safer. Rather than take action we look to what will not help us. The whites that brought Christianity and Islam to Africa are not even half as religious as us yet they have a better society. Some people will say it is the work of the devil. As if the devil took hoe and started uprooting the pavement of the road and filling it with potholes. For one, I think the speed limits of many roads in Nigeria, particularly the high speed roads should be dropped drastically to save lives. There is no point having a speed limit of 100kmh on Lagos Ibadan expressway when the road is very bad. It should be like 60kmh. I'm a graduate research student of transportation safety engineering by the way.

he was joking with me about money where we
discussed about how he wud partner with
alliance. He said, I will do that soon. Not knowing

I am a very senior doc. I don't know if I ever heard that statement from NMA but if it was said, the person is very ignorant. Most doctors want to work in federal hospitals in big towns so in a way that may be true. As for admitting mor medical students, it isn't possible because we don't have the capacity. There is a maximum number of students you can train at a time for proper clinical learning.
We need more medical schools more medical lecturers, more doctors to work in rural areas with incentives. I can go on and on.
I know there are some negligent Nigerian doctors. Even the training is not as good as it uses to be. So many factors involved. Some abandon their duty posts in rural areas. But that is the rot in this country. It affects every sector.
We need an urgent reshaping of this country.
Okay, if you don't accept that there are more doctors that can be employed; why then do medical students do not easily get internship spaces?

Good question. Internship is part of the training. It can only be done in hospitals that can train them and there are strict guidelines a hospital must fulfill in terms of manpower and facilities to be able to train a house officer. Its almost like medical school admission all over again. We don't have enough. In addition, I heard some teaching hospitals, due to shady practices do not fill up their capacity for houseofficers. I am not in administration so I don't know if it's true.
