MissGdope:

Question 1:

I often visit the romance section on nairaland because I find that the comments in that section are very funny and there are quite a few interesting characters. whenever I want to have a good laugh, I just click on the romance section and I tend to find it more amusing than the jokes section grin
About the celebrities section, I actually don't actively visit it a lot. it's just that I click on most celebrity related topics on the front page, kinda for the same reason; because the comments are funny and also because it's kind of a way to keep up with the latest gist in the Nigerian entertainment industry
On the other hand, I like to visit the politics section because I try to keep up to date with the current political issues in Nigeria and also because I learn a lot from reading other people's point of views on various issues.

Question 2:

I think my first thread on Nairaland was something like "Trey Songz and Chris Brown, who is the best" . lol I was actually 15 at the time , had just discovered nairaland and that was when adored them but I've grown out of it now grin.
here is your first thread on nairaland www.nairaland.com/1565812/south-africans

If you have a magic wand, what is the one thing you would ask for, and why?

which skill do you possess that can help the society?

ohh sorry. completely forgot about that.
the reason why I opened that thread was because I had a best friend who was South African. She was teaching me her language (Zulu and xhosa) while I was trying to teach he pidgin. I opened the thread because I thought it would be a good way to learn more about the south African culture and possibly impress my best friend smiley

This will sound cliché but the one thing I would ask for is for everyone to love each other cos I think that if we all had love for each other, the world would be a much peaceful place.

I don't necessarily have a skill per sé but I know that I'm very determined to achieve whatever I set out to do and ready to work hard to make a difference in society

Considering the way Nairalander do comment on one's thread, or quote one's post.

Have you ever insulted any Nairalander, if yes why? If no why not

I have insulted a few Nairalanders mainly due to Misogyny or tribalism on their part. sometimes I feel like the way some people speak about other genders or tribes is blatantly disrespectful. I ignore it a lot but sometimes I just feel compelled to say something

How in your own way will you try to reduce such if you happens to win Miss. Nairaland?

I think I will create more threads to try to urge people to stop spreading hate because hate just generates more hate. I would try to make them understand that it is wrong to hate a whole tribe/gender/group of people simply due to the percieved wrong doings of a few people as not everyone is the same.
I think I would also request from the mods, a stricter ban on sexism and tribalism as they seem to be quite a problem on nairaland

How can you describe true beauty?

Let's say all Rules are suspended for a day in your life alone, what would you do first?

I think true beauty is in the heart. I think one's character and personality adds to their beauty as a good character/personality tends to attract more people.

If all rules are suspended for a day, I think the first thing I would do is go skydiving. I've always wanted to try it but my parents won't let me

having gone through your thousands posts or comments on Nairaland, I have not seen your comment about Tiwa Savage and Teebilz saga.

What do you have to say about Tiwa-Teebliz saga?

I haven't posted anything because I could see a lot of people being attacked for stating their opinions on the issue so I just decided to avoid confrontations

I feel like the instagram outburst by Teebillz was really childish and uncalled for so I completely understand why Tiwa did that interview in order to clear her name. I know she might have revealed a little too much but honestly, who wouldn't? she must have felt he was trying to destroy her career and she decided to shoot back at him though not the best way to handle a situation.
Overall I think their marriage/marital breakdown shouldn't be a topic of public discussion but seeing as they have put it out there, myself and other people should try not to judge either party as you can never know how a person's life really is until you walk in their shoes.
I think it's a shame that their marriage has come to such a messy end but such is life I guess

before we call it a day kindly answer these questions.

Question 1.Several women have competed in Miss Nairaland competitions in the past. With changes in eligibility rules and the actual process, many potential contenders were discouraged and opted out, but you didn't. Why did you decide to roll with the changes and participate in this edition of Miss Nairaland?

Question 2. Nigeria experienced her first military intervention in politics in which year?

Who do you think deserves to win Miss Nairaland?

Question 2. Nigeria experienced her first military intervention in politics in which year?

Question 1:
The changes didn't affect me because I didn't realise there were any. Before this year, I never participated or even observed the contest so when I decided to try it out this year, I just thought of the rules and requirements as due process. I didn't find it hard to keep to them and that's why I haven't opted out

Question 2:
wow this is a hard one. um I think the first military intervention was when Tafawa Balewa was overthrown. I'm not so sure of the year but I think it was in the late sixties? I'm not very good with history unfortunately

I think each of the contestants equally deserve to win. I don't think anyone deserves it more than the other. It would just come down to how well we present ourselves and how much support we manage to get.

May the best girl win! wink

MissGdope,

cyberstalking is a phenomenon that has become really rampant due to the affordability of phones and data subscription. How would you handle a cyber stalker?

What if I tell you are being pushed to compete in this contest (my own insinuation though) and I want you to convince me, what will you say?

I think it's easy to avoid a cyber stalker by blocking them, deactivating social media accounts for a while but if I think they pose a serious threat and I know their location then I would report to the police.

I'm not being pushed to compete, rather I'm being encouraged. I'm not a very confident person and there have been times when I have thought that I don't stand a chance but my friends on nairaland have given me an extra confidence boost and told me that I can do it.
also, it might seem that I'm not very active with campaigns but this is not deliberate. I've got important exams to do in a couple of weeks so I really have to study so sometimes I can't be online

From ur reply, MissGdope, it seems the decision to contest does not actually stem from inside of you. Rather, u easily get swayed by nairaland friends who urge you on or ginger you to contest.
Secondly, your divided attention shows a low level of commitment to the pageant.
*my personal feelings though*

Meanwhile, have a good evening and I wish you the best your answers could give you in the contest.

to be clear, I actually entered the competition without the knowledge of any of my friends. anyone could do with a little bit of encouragement and that's what I got and I'm grateful for it. I actuall really want to win but at the same time I know that anyone could win. So I'm just hopeful

I'm not apologetic about my divided attention regarding my studies as obviously that is more important to me than this contest. I do of course try my best to make some time to go online like what I'm doing right now

have a good evening too!
