Noooooooo wonder! There's this gate on Apapa-Oshodi expressway that leads you to Gbagada estate phase2. Until February this year they used to lock it 7pm SHARP. So it happened that I travelled out of town since then but I observed that when I came back to town the gate was still open like past 8pm. I knew something was amiss but I couldn't point my finger on it. Abajo. |

Gate on Ekiti street in Ikosi-ketu under Ikosi LCDA is closed by 7pm. Please help remove it |
| Re: Lagos Demolishes 84 Gated Streets by 360command: 9:41pm On May 05, 2016 |
Nonsense! My own is let them remove all the gates in the street and use effective policing for security. A sensible government who is serious about maintaining security would employ the service of the police. Let them put a police post to cover about 3-5 street for security. I do not see why we should be prisoners in out street/area. Everywhere you go, gated street. The time they close the gate can be annoying.. Let them open all the gate so as traffic can flow easily. |

not so good development, the stipulated time is rather much...12am? that is suicidal 10 pm should be enough I know the rate of arm robbery attacks we had to endure, even lives were lost before we chose the option gate and time restrictions in my area of canal estate, Okota, we maintain the road ourselves through community development efforts, so before government can issue such directive and draconian order, they should be involved road construction and security of lives |

steppin:Would you rather rather they set on each other like savages and massacre one another, as done between "TWO PDP communities" of Umuileri and Aguileri? ![]() You should be commending the maturity of the govt and people of these two states! xbad: hmmm. This is a good ideal on one hand and a bad ideal on the other hand. You are right but then, these situations are not mutually exclusive! Simple: Let the gate be locked but MANNED by a Security Personnel between the hours of 7pm and 12 midnight (after which it is locked till the morning) . The beauty of this is that the gate-man/Security will open the gate for "normal traffic" plus emergency services but will also be available to lock it if an "risky situation" develops (like armed robbery). What the Govt does not want is this "lock and throw-way key" mentality. Lastpage! |

Here in Carlton Gate Estate Lekki our gates are locked by 8pm to 6:30 am you can only pass through when you have your permit... I Don't think the Govt has the right to demolish gates of private residential estate. |

Be sensible amd logical for once. They are actually referring to streets that serve as alternative routes in case of traffic, not your quiet estate gated street that only have residents cars passing |

Biko they are not asking you to remove the gates. What the government is asking is for us not to infringing on the rights of otgers while safeguarding ours. We can keep our gates at least they are the first borders of our fortress. They are only asking for people to be allowed to pass through the gates freely till 12 midnight. You can station a whole barrack to man your gate but let there be free flow of traffic. However i feel the government should consider the issues these actions may pose and work accordingly i.e 1) This pose a security threat owing that the real owners can freely survey all under the guise pf passing through. This can be countered by arming landlords or security officials. Fortify your estates with more uniformed guards that wont just stay at the gate but patrol. No stopping, keep the motorists moving. If any car stops, the owner must tow within 30 mins or the estate tows and the owner pays. 2) Road rehabilitation. Any road that isn't government maintained should be allowed to collect a toll of N100 to use. Even the government collects money to enable us pass through lekki that was must have been built with tax payers money. Criticism is welcome. Just my 2cents. |

Oyo state government should do same without delay. Some of these gates are closed on weekends. Too bad for the common man. |
| Re: Lagos Demolishes 84 Gated Streets by Lateefsanni: 4:46am On May 06, 2016 |
I know it annoying to meet gate in your neighborhood closed . It's has pros and cons. We should stop concentrating a single point but look at it in a objective point of view. Must especially security and safety point of view. I think policies and regulation has to kick in for erecting a street gate or any form of security barrier. |

Good development! A government that walk the talk. Kindly monitor the areas to ensure the gates are not re-install. Some street have gates installed from time immemorial that the entrance have been turned to refuse dump, second-hand car sales showroom, mini shops etc. I mean the Lock-throway--key type of street gate. Gate does not guarantee security. With all the locked gates robbers still operate indiscriminately on these street and areas. Security beef up and community policing is the ultimate solution to crime prevention not 'gated streets' |

RichDad1:Especially that Omole phase 2 gate at Otedola Estate. So annoying. Once it's locked, u have to drive all the way to Berger bridge via serious traffic to connect to Magodo phase 1. Very annoying! ![]() |
