I hope the pastor is arressted. Honestly if a pastor advised such to my child, outside of my knowledge. I will be having the pastor picked up for covering, and aiding a crime. I will also due him and his ministry terribly for damages.

That's my point sir/ma. The name has been shortened to something meaningless. Why shorten your name, which is your heritage, to something that has no meaning? Because you want to feel among?? You want your hosts to accept you?

No, their ancestor probably shortened it. Many Yoruba's answer shortened names. This Shonde name, I know 50 or 60 yr olds that bear it. So the shortening did not come from this man. Remember at some time when Oyinbo's came, they asked us to bear our father's names when we were known by extended family name or family compound. Now if you know your father as Shonde, you will bear it . Some Yoruba people even bear obvious nicknames as last name.

That Agbogunsori is an example of a nickname. Probably his ancestor was a warrior, and family pride in his exploits made them to adopt such a name. Yes I believe names could affect destiny. But we decide through hardwork and focus, what we become. A responsible man, no matter his last name will raise responsible sons.

Ahhh, but he has to face the law for killing someone else albeit his wife. If we allow murderers to go scot free in the society, then half of us would be gone by now.

It's really unfortunate especially for the kids. I hope the children have a good family support in their extended family like grandmas, aunties.

What in heavens name are you talking about?
You should be preaching people with anger problems should go for anger management classes, or should walk away and not saying the devil is using them, therefore absolving them of any responsibility.
Her patience has probably led to her death from the hands of a violent man who can't control his anger.
You don't even know their family dynamics if she was "submissive" or not, you don't even know if the man got angered because she prepared egusi soup instead of bitterleaf soup or whatever.
She is his wife, but remember she's someone else's daughter, mother, sister, and auntie. She has roots o.

Some bastards will insult the fools and destroy their self-esteem until they get married to anything that comes along. Then the bastards will continue to abuse the fools, beat them, abuse them, cheat on them, give them STDs and ruin them.
Some other bastards will ask the fools to pray and persevere, and of course the fools must stay married by all means afterall other fools like them are still searching for bastards to marry; then one day, the fool will get beaten to death.

No body has even asked the important question, what could have led to the fracas that might ultimately had led to Ronke's death? We often focus on the effects, while losing sight of the cause. Sometimes, attitudes of some women can provoke a man toward unleashing uncontrollable wrath which can lead to an ugly incidence like murder. But that does not justify wife battering or even murdering a spouse. Unmarried people should to be meticulous in selecting a mate that would not lead them to losing their salvation.

This emotional blackmail doesn't work with me. Everyone knows that women suffer more abuse than men and yes i supported the ibadan guy killed by his wife and still demand justice but you should be ashamed to opine that i might be divorced just because i express what any sensible person will say in this case.If it was your sister will you say the same?

Ronke Bewaji Shonde (pictured above) was allegedly beaten to death by her husband this morning May 6th at their home at Tiemo Crescent off Awori street in Egbeda Lagos. According to family friend who reached out to LIB, Ronke and her husband had a fight in the early hours of this morning at their home while their kids were sleeping. One neighbour later said he heard the noise coming from their flat early this morning but didn't think it was something horrific going on in the home.

Around 7am, the couple's nanny came to the house to resume work only to find the house locked and no one was opening the door. She tried to call her madam but her phone was switched off. She peeped through the window only to find the couple's 6 and 4 year old kids crying and saying they couldn't wake their mum up. By this time, neighbours had also gathered and they forcefully opened the door to find Ronke's lifeless body on the floor, blood gushing from her head.

The husband, Lekan Shonde, was nowhere to be found. Ronke's phone was also missing. He'd locked the kids with their dead mum in the house and took off with her phones.

Her body has since been deposited at the mortuary. She was in her mid-30s.
According to family friends, Ronke suffered domestic violence in her husband's hands for many years but refused to leave the marriage. Sad it took her losing her life for this to end

This is what you get when you listen to Nairaland kids advicing you to stick to your marriage and amend your ways when your husband becomes a torn in your flesh.

It's easier said than done practically. You think it's easy to "LEAVE" just like that especially when kids are involved ? Just pray to God to save you from those agents of the devil. I too pray, God never allow marine Kingdom woman to cross my path. Amen

My mum was a victim of regular beatings for 27years..At a point,i stopped communicating with her and I vowed if she dies in it,i won't mourn her and I won't show up @ her burial....
