LASAA is compulsory for advert and publicity, local goverment have certain taxes, dues and rates which they collect from businesses.
I thought lasaa was just a state govt advert agency that only collects payment for advert when a person wants to advertise... I didn't know they taxed people that don't use adverts.

can you list the agencies that collect tax in the state... I checked google and its world bank taxation report I saw on Lagos.

Those Chest beaters made Lagos what it is today?
Those Chest Beaters controls over 50% of Lagos inflow and Outflow
Those Chest Beaters dominates 60% of Lagos Populations.
Those Chest Beaters owns majority of the landing Properties in Lagos
Those Chest Beaters are coming into political power in Lagos by winning 6 House of Representatives.

Continue to make noise while Chest Beaters continue to win and win even in your own lands
I don't support tribes politics but Jonathan dollar win the 6 states assembly, massive dollar spend to capture Lagos.

Stop acting like you are new in Nigeria... if you dont know them.. then stop Shoving "Charity begins at home" quote down our throat
Our leaders need to start from somewhere, we need forward thinking leaders in Nigeria.

The Lagos that was the Federal Capital of Nigeria, was just 5% of the current Lagos. The federal capital included Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Ebute metta, Yaba, part of Apapa, and some parts of Surulere.

The boundary of Lagos and Western region toward Ikorodu road was Jibowu, the boundary towards Victoria Island was Maroko, while there was another boundary at Ajegunle Apapa, that area is still known as boundary till date.

Awolowo established Industrial Estates at Ilupeju, Apapa, Matori, Isolo, Ikeja, Ogba, these Industrial estates are still present till date, he established Agricultural settlements at Oko Oba, Lekki, Ajah and some places in present Lagos State which used to be under the Western region.

Western region through Odua Investment, invested heavily in companies like Guiness, Nigeria breweries, Vita foam, WAPCO, Nigeria Bottling corporation, Nestle, Cadbury just to mention a few. Unfortunately subsequent military governors mis-managed the investments of Odua.

Odua governors are current having investments and economic summits, they are also thinking of collaboration, instead of waiting for a FG, i think our governors need to take their destinies into their own hands.

Please educate yourself, Lagos State got funding through bonds from the Nigeria Stock Exchange, becuase of my confidence in Fashola I also invested in the Lagos State bond.
Lagos got loan from the world bank for some specific project like drainage, flooding control, infrastructure etc.
African Development Bank was established to fund states and govts who meet up with their minimum standard.

The so-called foresight and development in Western region was when Awolowo was the Premier of the region, which was well before the war.

people dissing the Igbo's and gloating over this are actually stupid. In their mind, the Gwarri people developed Abuja. Even people doing Agbero work in osun are jubilating over this and probably Insulting a wealthy Igbo business man in Lagos taking the advantage and benefiting from Lagos Economy.

Lagos borrowed the loan from World Bank, but with a guarantee from FG. Meaning FG can use Lagos State monthly allocation to pay the loan, if Lagos defaulted.

N100 billion generated by Lagos is about $500 million, which is about $2billion in a year, but I doubt if Lagos current debt exposure is up to that amount.

Meantime, the state government generated N101.69 billion revenues in the first quarter of year 2016 appropriation year, even as it had secured $100 million about N19.7 billion loan from the French Government to upgrade slums in the state.

Lagos is indeed a State within a State just like California is to the United States.

They can survive without Federal Government!!!!

At what par? Zik built the first tv station in Africa like Awo did?

Zik built the first modern stadia in sub africa?

Zik built hotels like the still existing Lagos airport and premier hotels like awo did?

Zik built industrial estates like ikeja, apapa, ilupeju, matori and mushin industrial estate like awo did?

Zik created a conglomerate like the still existing Oodu group of companies..?

The developments Lagos state is benefiting from today transpired before the existence of nigeria as a country and before independence, also before the war.

This was the regional period when al the regions were on their own to develop at their respective level and from what we've seen, SW achieved more than the SE and the other regions combined.

War or no war, the SW achieved more in that period and still is today..

The total debt is about 50% of the annual IGR, excluding the monthly income from the federation account.

Note that the IGR of Lagos does not includde VAT and corporate tax.

1. Debt is not for everybody and it's not even only about just taking loans, it's all about who is taking the loans and their financial capabilities, planing and managerial skills and ultimately ability and capacity to pay back the loans.

2.Lagos state is not like any other state in Nigeria or the FG when it comes to debt and debt servicing and this is the reason why they have the best local and international credit rating...

Lagos Saves N100.7 Billion for Debt Servicing

Lagos — Lagos State Government on Wednesday said it has perfected it's financial strategy to ensure that funds it borrowed in the quest of realizing its objective of turning the state to Africa model megacity is repaid.

To this end, the government revealed that N100.73 billion has been reserved in the state's sinking fund reserve.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201504300450.html
They save and set billions aside in a separate account specifically for debt repayment.

What they saved have in their debt servicing account is more that your state's yearly budget..

The joke is on you...

Don not say it is more than my state budget, because we are not indebted to anybody,, Lagos debt is in billions of dollars and not naira,, they can keep servicing while the debt keep pailing up.

Gov. Ambode has proven he is a visionary leader. I'm not saying this because of this claim. He has set a record, the rate at which Lastma extorts monies from the populace has drastically reduce hence, lagos govt is very friendly with the citizen. And they still have this huge revenue to show for it with several on going projects...kudos to Ambo
