Katsina?

At a time when most Nigerian states are in debt and even owing salaries, one Governor is said to be leaving his successor a clean slate.
Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema will reportedly leave the state debt-free when he vacates office on May 29, 2015.
This was revealed by former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu on Saturday, May 9, 2015, when Shema was being conferred with The Sun Outstanding Performance Exit Award in Lagos.
“We know Ibrahim as a very intelligent person and the best in our class and as someone who was very very meticulous and detailed in whatever he was doing. Within the last eight years, he has changed the face of government in Katsina,” Ribadu said.
“He is the only governor that is going to leave the office with no debt behind. He has paid all, including salaries of the workers of his state. We want to thank you for making us all proud. May God continue to be with you,” he added.
Shema will be succeeded as governor by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Why is Edo state $123m? We were told Edo had earlier collected $75m from the world bank before the recent $75m that the senate approved. That should make $150m. If however the $123m was before the recent approval, then Edo state debt is $198m. That is $123M + $75m. Which makes Edo 3rd on the list!

Debt GDP portfolio should be considered first before drawing your list.

Lagos and Kaduna can easily manage what they owe .

While that of Cross River was taken during the Duke administration in lieu of oil revenue from Bakassi and those secede to Akwa Ibom. So in a way I won't blame Cross River but the useless Obasanjo and Nigerian state and besides all the money duke borrowed was duly utilised with evidence on ground to show for it.

Therefore your list must contain the following 2 at the top:

1. Osun : for having the misfortune and combined stup1dity in voting a vagrant slowpoke as their governor. Osun state now averages a total revenue base less than 600million. Coca cola sees more revenue flow than osun all thanks to aregberascal the Ooni Gbesse who has borrowed from every bank in the land.

2. Edo. For having the. Misfortune of electing a hedonistic womaniser who has borrowed to fund his ashewoe cravings. Edo has only one ashewoe expat as first lady to show for it.

The citizens should demand to see what was done with the borrowed monies. Bet me we won't hear zilch about probing obvious mismanagement and outright thievery of public funds. With all the IGR and oil allotment Lagos brings in they still have the largest debt profile

Excatly! Edo only did business with Cape Verde and the governor is enjoying those dividends in his bedroom alone.

Olodo the debt figures are for external debts from foreign banks.

Aregberascal has borrowed from every bank, cooperative and market women association in Nigeria to the point that he has begun lamenting that Banks refused to borrow him more money.

Debt/GDP portfolios only makes sense in sane climes with functional govts.
What did the lagos state and kaduna govts do with their huge amounts of borrowed funds?
That is the first and most important question.

What did they use the money for? It baffles me how governors sit down with their cronies and draft out ways to mortgage the future of our children. My state owes over 600 billion. What was it used for? Ask Uduaghan the best governor angry
