The blacksmiths strike when the iron is hot, not when it has turned cold. Every action/reaction should have been done the evening this hike was implemented. not 2days later. |

![]() Teacher to students: Write a sentence using the word "Dog" Teacher to Okon: Why are you copying Musa's work? Okon: Aunty,am not copying o! it happens that I know the particular Dog he is writing about. The liberalization of the downstream sector will ensure that investments on the imports, jetties, farm tanks, depot to filling stations distribution network pay off. Since time immemorial, none of government ran corporation has ever been profitable in Nigeria. Neither NITEL, NEPA, NNPC REFINERIES nor NNPC Retail Filling Stations has ever been run as profit-oriented corporations which had led to ineffective and inefficient service provisions for many years! The Bold Step liberalization of the downstream sector is a Win Win for investors in the sectors and for Nigerians. Unlike when government fixed fuel import volume allocation per fuel marketers, nothing of such any more. Nigerians will henceforth enjoy unlimited Metric Tonnes of fuel imports that each and every oil marketers can afford at a competitive model. New private refineries will spring up across different regions in Nigeria. The gateway for more and more corporate and financial institutions involvements will create tonnes of jobs in the downstream sectors through Local direct investments coupled with foreign direct investments". famo19:So....you want us to pay for subsidy with what money? Nigeria needs oil to be at $123 and above to pay for subsidy. And anyway...subsidy is a waste of money...whether oil price is above 100 or below 50 USD. |

Buhari in 1983 was moin-moin in "kpangolo" (tin) but in 2015 he appeared as moin-moin in foil, but gullible Nigerian's taught he was now sandwich. not knowing he still was the same old moin-moin.

famo19:“Listen fellow Nigerians, as it is right now, most of what we are suffering now and we are going to suffer were caused few years ago but the Lord asked me to encourage you. Suffering is coming but it is not suffering under damnation, there is solution, it may take some time, but at the end of it, there will be testimony;…As I have told you, there is going to be crisis but God will handle it. This year, God said my people will be over-comers, things will be hard but my people will be over-comers”._ Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka (31st December 2015). |

The FG should accept its aberration in the removal of petroleum subsidy without making provision of at least a temporary palliative measure for the good people of this country, to help them cushion the effect of this hard but genuine decision. I believe it should listen to the cry of the opposition-masses on this decision and do the needful, if truly it has interest of the poor people at heart. A palliative measure like a temporary one-time payment of say a lump sum to all the up-to-date tax payers would go a long way to help the general masses (don't tell me that an idea of such will cause inflation, because I know that it won't instead there will certainly be money in circulation), especially the downtrodden among us. This is achievable, I have a solution on how this can be achieved without it hurting the purse of the government too much. By the way, it ought to know that in a circumstance like this, it should assume the role of an entrepreneur - in any business transaction, it's the entrepreneur that bears the last risk. So far, it has not been altruistic in its dealings with the masses. A situation like this causes me to ask, what's the duty of the welfare arm of the government. The earlier the FG retrace its step the better. #I'm-a-bona fide-Igbo man-but-I-stand-for-an anti nepotic-indissoluble-and progressive Nigeria. |

Diplomaticbeing:Good idea...but problem is...we do not exactly have the cash for ''palliative measures''. We are suffering because Nigeria's economy has always been dependent on the sale of resources/raw materials....whose prices we do not control...for revenue. So when prices go up....everything is OK...when prices go down...everything is bad. I think we must spend more now on power and transport and education...so that we can become a manufacturing society...which means a stable and better source of foreign exchange. Oil, agric and mining can never save us. |

Best to read the white paper on the reasons of hike, than simply jumping on the APC hatred bandwagon. In 1973 PMS sold for N 0.06kobo!!! Unfortunately, considering the change of economic conditions and market forces over the years, change is inevitable!!! |
