The FG should accept its aberration in the removal of petroleum subsidy without making provision of at least a temporary palliative measure for the good people of this country, to help them cushion the effect of this hard but genuine decision. I believe it should listen to the cry of the opposition-masses on this decision and do the needful, if truly it has interest of the poor people at heart.

A palliative measure like a temporary one-time payment of say a lump sum of 250,000 naira to all the up-to-date tax payers would go a long way to help the general masses (don't tell me that an idea of such will cause inflation, because I know that it won't instead there will certainly be money in circulation), especially the downtrodden among us. This is achievable, I have a solution on how this can be achieved without it hurting the purse of the government too much. By the way, it ought to know that in a circumstance like this, it should assume the role of an entrepreneur - in any business transaction, it's the entrepreneur that bears the last risk.

So far, it has not been altruistic in its dealings with the masses. A situation like this causes me to ask, what's the duty of the welfare arm of the government. The earlier the FG retrace its step the better.
