Matthew is not ignoring context: he is comparing Jesus’ ministry with Israel’s history and the promises those very contexts evoke. He may extend analogies further than we generally do today, but he read the context better than most of his critics have!

Now here is my reason for that question.
Under intense pressure, human beings are known to stutter, lie, and can shift grounds and step back from their resolves and convictions.
Under fire, anything can happen. Somany can even deny their own parents to save their neck.

Apostle Peter was a man first and foremost, before becoming an Apostle of Christ. Peter was known for being timid until he received the Holy Ghost. Although in his timidity, he was also ZEALOUS, mark that word "ZEALOUS", but zealousness without knowledge and understanding leads to destruction. The devil uses the zealous without knowledge the most.

Peter wanted to prove to the Master that he will go with him to the ends of the world, but the Master knew everything even before they happened. The Master knew Peter to be fearful, without boldness. The Master knew that he will be deserted by his closets pals, he knew, but no one else knew it. It was a prophecy which most be fulfilled. Here is the prophecy:
Zechariah 13:7 Awake, O sword, against My shepherd and against the man who is My associate, says the Lord of hosts; smite the shepherd and the sheep [of the flock] shall be scattered, and I will turn back My hand and stretch it out again upon the little ones [of the flock].

The Master knew that Peter's Gragra was without knowledge. So satan was ready to use it against Peter, But Jesus wont let satan.

The Master in Luke 22:31-32 Looked at Peter and his show of braggadocio, and warned him saying

Simon Simon, behold satan has desired to have YOU, that he may sift YOU as wheat:
But i have prayed for you that your faith fail not...

When the Master was preparing their minds to accept his death, Pater Jumped up and rebuked the Master:

Then Peter took Him aside to speak to Him privately and began to reprove and charge Him sharply, saying, God forbid, Lord! This must never happen to You!

But Jesus turned away from Peter and said to him, Get behind Me, Satan! You are in My way [an offense and a hindrance and a snare to Me]; for you are minding what partakes not of the nature and quality of God, but of men.

Again Peter exhibiting zeal without knowldge.
But the master knew that it wasnt Peter talking, it was satan, hence; " He Turned away from Peter and said to satan, get out of my way, for you are an offense to me".

Again on the night before crucifixion, after Peter's show of 'Gragra', the master looked at him and said, " You see all this gragra you are gyrating here? before this day breaks, you, with all your muscle flexing, you will deny me three times.
Did it happen? Yes it did. Peter remembered the Master's warning, cried and repented.


Now to why i asked you that question. The same satan working behind the scene from time immemorial, is still the one working today. He knows that when its a matter of Life and death, many people, especially those who are zealous without knowledge breaks and compromises their stance, that's why he through the Muslims will inflict so much fear into his victims, then provide a way out, "Deny Christ or you die".
Its all about CHRIST.

Matthew's quoting of Hosea which is here adjudged as twisting! Let the op or any of his supporters show us where from history, the HEBREW audience of Matthew's Gospel(at least they were the custodians of the OT, not the op) accused him of misquoting that verse from Hosea, then we can talk.

Moreover, I am surprised that there are some here that make disjointed and zero-correlation claims about portions of the same OT as referring to Mohammed!(neither a jew nor prophesied), but condemn a Gospel written to Hebrews who should have attacked this Hosea quote if it was indeed a lie.
