Sin After Baptism:is It Forgivable? by darealsola(m): 4:22am On May 15, 2016
Am about to start baptismal training but I feel like am forced.Reason is that am addicted to worldly things.I.e.the worldly music, my lifestyle, etc are part of me.Am afraid that after doing baptism, I might still sin.So If I sin after the baptism, will God forgive me? Plz let me know the truth so that I would prepare to let the worldly things go.

All believers will continue to sin—that's our sin nature. But once you have accepted God's forgiveness, you're no longer a slave to that nature. With Christ, you absolutely have the power to stomp sin like a spider before it takes ahold of you. The more you exercise the power of God within you, the fewer instances of sin will pop up in your life.

When you do sin unintentionally, you should confess it to God, asking Him to forgive you and to bring back that close friendship with Him.

What's sin to you? What's your basis for judging sin? What kind of worldly things are you addicted to?

How is music sin? What's your basis for judging music as sin?

Being materialistic or not, is a thing of the mind and it's fundamentally dependent on your own ideas and choices and not those based off from the bible. What I am trying to say is that if your reason for not wanting to be materialistic is because according to your interpretation of the bible, or someone else's interpretation which you have been indoctrinated in, being materialistic is wrong, then it's going to be hard, almost difficult for you to stop.

The reason why you wouldn't jump into an ocean when you know you can't swim isn't because someone told you not to, it's because you understand that if you jump into an ocean you will drown. You know you will drown because you wouldn't be able to battle the water current and you would take up to much water which would suffocate you. Because of the understanding you have, you wouldn't ever even imagine jumping into an ocean. Same should also apply to your beliefs. You shouldn't chose not to do something because someone tells you not to. You should have a mind of your own. It's easier to go against an instruction just because someone tells you not to go against it, than when you have actually personally come to a full realization of the negative effects of not following that instruction.

You have to first create you own definition for "materialistic". You have to understand what being materialistic is and the effects of it to you as a person. You should weigh it's advantages and disadvantages on a moral scale and conclude which outweighs the other. Does being materialistic improve and add value to your life? Does it not? If you are able to answer these questions honestly, it would make things a whole lot easier for you.

Baptism is just a ritual representing cleansing from sin (righteosness. ) It does not give any spiritual status. Faith is what really matters, so go ahead with it but remember your faith is more important
