Of recent, I wrote a post on NL pleading with the people from the South East and South South to help us beg their brothers and children in the South South to stop bombing the pipelines because when repercussions start coming, the whole Nigerian will suffer, especially us in the Niger Delta. There was a swift backlash to my post from some people in the South East. They said the millitants are doing the right thing. However after somedays the APC South East issued a statement condemning the bombings, so also did the Ijor Youth Council. I believe it was an after taught response to my post. To this good gesture I say thank you.

However there appear to be another deadlier monster creeping in stealthily- The sharp increase in the price of Tomatoes. What do you think, is it natural or artificial? Are we having you bomb your oil, I keep my tomatoes playing here? Everywhere I go everybody is complaining about the price of tomatoes. Tomatoes that used to cost #100 has rissen to #3000.

Although we do not have any evidence to prove that the sharp increase in the price of tomatoes is a retaliation to the activities of the Niger Delta militants. But what if it is? What if they decide to extend the increase in price and scarcity to: cow meat, beans, carrots, yam, goat, onions and so many numerouse food produce in that region. Can we survive? can we live without food? Let us be sincere with our selves.
As I am talking to you now people are already dying of hunger.

After thinking about these things for a while my conclussion is that whatever our agitations are in this country, irrespective of our tribes and religions we should be rational in our struggle for secession of resource control, because every region has what she contributes to this great nation, NIGERIA

Is the government in charge of tomatoes, as they are in charge of oil?

The tomato na free? Do proceeds from tomato sales get paid into federation account for onward distribution to states? Is it comparable to monthly allocations from crude sales that go to other states as of right?

Besides there's a disease affecting tomato cultivation and harvest that's what appears to be d major cause of its scarcity and increased cost. Even Dangote has suspended tinned tomato production because of insufficient tomatoes as raw materials.

Mr OP even in the core north tomatoes are not available. So we are all suffering the scarcity. My hausa colleagues ask me to teach them how to prepare ofe akwu cos a mudu (plate) of tomatoes is more than 2k,no one is ready to waste such amount on tomatoes in this era of change.

Most tomatoes you see in Lagos are coming from Cameroon and Benin republic.. So the lie that the north is supplying tomatoes is already stale..

We harvest 2.5 tons of tomatoes in a cooperative farm every month in Akwa Ibom. Farming have gone technical am happy some of the crops we taught cannot survive here are beginning to sprout. But above all a United, trusted and respected Nigeria is what l want. Today we have a lot of distrust in the country among ethnic groups which is not healthy.

Let us pray it is not a plan work. They might deliberately stop production, Just to pay us back. They don't care if they suffer too

Its not my dear, the scarcity was actually caused by a certain disease beyond farmer's control. I based there,no reasonable hausa speak good of this present govt. The suffering and scarcity is toiling hard on everybody especially them. Let's just pray for divine intervention

we do produce agricultural produce in the south. But the bulk of it comes from them. Everybody knows that. For example you can't grow crops, or fish in most lands and rivers in the South South because of oil pollution

Like I said, go and do good findings. If you're from the SS don't sell urself and the region short. It pays to be informed and knowledgeable.

Tomato is about one of the weakest economic weapon anyone can use to attack the country. The northerners can never win any economic War against the southerners as they have more to lose.

If u think they're strong enough to stop production even if it affects them, why will the NDA be any different, enough for u to bring up this dumb scare tactics?

We don't need any divine intervention. Buhari must feel the frustration he made JoNathan go through. We must give him a bigger share of frustration, so that in his next world he will know that Karma is real.

@OP, We don't need any fuc.king tomatoes in SE/SS. We've a good and delicious soup called ofe akwu and it can be prepared without tomatoes. We must continue disgracing and frustrating this govt and no amount of blackmail can stop us.

You can shove your tomatoes deep into your sorry ass!

It's affecting everyone and it's nothing to do with the activities of the NDA. Rather it's the crazy forex policy, very unstable economic policies, the unconscionable increase in petrol prices and for the tomato u seem so hung up on, disease!

You make it seem like d increase in tomato and possible reduction of agricultural produce would be retaliation because of the Niger Delta issues and I'm saying ur fake scare tactics holds no water.

An example of what is grown in the South? You must be kidding!

But I'll oblige you...

Varieties of vegetables, fruits, ogbono, melon seeds, breadfruit, yam, cassava, maize, rice, cocoa, tomatoes, cashew, beans, pepper, palm nuts, coconuts, herbs...I can go on!

For animals...we've got goats, bush meat like grasscutters, antelopes, chicken, snails, varieties of fish, pigs, prawns, shrimps, crabs...

I'm assuming u were kidding about asking what is grown in the South but if u are truly ignorant then I hope u're better enlightened and please what I've mentioned is not even close to an exhaustive list. These are only food staples I've mentioned. The commercial trees are also there. Do yourself a favour and research further.

I'm quite surprised and that's why I'm baffled when I hear how the North feeds the South. It now looks as if we weren't eating and surviving just fine long before Nigeria came to be! The ignorance no be here o! Who dey deceive dem kwanu? There is no doubt that food produce from the north is significant but it isn't enough to keep creating the impression that the south cannot feed itself.
