Dis govt is really a Fuji house of Commotion... It's very obvious there's no synergy amongst d executives considering d differing stances and opinions dey always have over issues.. Is dis deregulation, subsidy removal or just a bunch of clowns who decided to increase fuel price and yet undecided as to why dey removed it. |

Subsidy removal is the best just that it came at the wrong time,it came at the time when people are struggling to survive. I just realise that one of the business the big guys( especially in the north) are investing on is building fuel stations, its a booming business where they invest the 'stolen' money with little or no risk involve. The absence of subsidy will help them channel their resource to another sector which will be more beneficial to the public in terms of employment. Just hope mr kachikwu and co will keep their promise this time. |

there are some policies no matter are good it is or the intension. but if the people it's meant for don't want it. you will have no option than to throw it away that is democracy. just like the man who don't want to bath, and you are explaining the important of bath and bath is good. the man shouldn't be forced bath. Nigeria don't trust government with it comes to promises with we will do this and do that. and everyone already knows nothing good will cone out from the hike but the masses will suffer for no just cause. |

Adesiji77:Osinbajo only said, the increase in price is more due to the exchange rate change than the subsidy removal; he did not say subsidy wasn't removed. Out of the total price hike of N58/litre, if N10 is due to subsidy removal and N48 is due to exchange rate change, then it can be said that the hike in fuel prices is driven more by the exchange rate than the removed subsidy. It is quite embarrassing to note that many Nigerians, including an institution like Vanguard newspaper could not comprehend this simple English. The level of educated illiteracy in Nigeria is alarming I must say. |

OLADD:Kindly point out where Osinbajo said subsidy wasn't removed?... And please don't show me some silly report by some quack Vanguard journalist who obviously reports stories out of his insane imaginations. Below is the Vanguard report causing this confusion to people who happen to be learned, but would rather not read; besides the first paragraph and the title which is the dumb interpretation and opinion of the journalist, kindly point out the line within the report where Osinbajo said subsidy wasn't removed?... I have highlighted the exact words of Osinbajo in RED http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/fuel-price-hike-fg-not-removed-subsidy-says-vp-osinabjo/Apparently, because the VP says the real issue isn't subsidy removal, then an unbaked journalist interprets this sentence as "No subsidy has been removed," even though it is all over the news that subsidy has been removed, and the sad part is that many (even educated people) swallow this. Isn't it a shame that we have these kind of journalists publishing news reports for a major newspaper like Vanguard?.... This was exactly how another Vanguard slowpoke reported the "I will make N1=$1" falsehood. cc: Adesiji77, shiimah, Nbote, costandi, mineANDurs, micfoley, omowolewa, OZAOEKPE, sigiyaya, cosmatika |

APC has so much confidence in their propaganda skills and using media outlet to sell lies to Nigerians. However they need to understand it is not their excessive propaganda that made Nigerians vote GEJ out. It was GEJ's several faults and his refusal to even acknowledge them as faults/wrong. |

Hengineer:Thanks for taking the time out to explain to that coward-child (OLADD) who was brave enough to call me 'dead-head', but not man enough to take the rebuttal. He had to go call the mods on me like that reduces my income or stops me from using another handle. The mods OTOH must be proud to ban people without following the 'train of exchange'. #pisspoor |

But the vice president said the new price had nothing to do with subsidy but to correct imbalance created by FX differential. My concern is 285naira to a dollar as secondary market benchmark is lower than the actual market value of 320 naira. How will the difference be corrected. In a free market economy fx will respond to demand.- this mean that fx will increase with demand created by independent marketers demand for fx. so I don't understand why the benchmark was set at 285naira unless government plans to sell at that value and allow the marketers to source the difference from the parallel market- which is not what kachukwu said Careful negotiated crude swap agreement is a better solution to this approach. I am not sure where we are headed. How about the reserve Kachukwu said that he was building.?? Please anyone has an idea of what is going on.?? How about the production from our refinery??. what price would it sell for after all the government dose not require fx to procure crude oil.?? |
