TokyoBulls:That said, you must however understand that getting into medical school in SA is very competitive as there are very few medical schools in South Africa as opposed to Nigeria and they are usually very expensive. South African Indians usually send their children to medical schools abroad and then they go back to SA to write their medical licensing exam to practice in SA. Due to the limited number of medical students SA universities can take, the SA government had bilateral agreement with countries like Cuba such that South Africans can go to Cuba to study medicine and then come back to SA upon graduation to practice in public hospitals in SA without writing their licensing exam. In summary, I'll say it's cheaper to study medicine in Nigerian Public University and then go to SA to write their licensing exam to practice there but if you have the money and wherewithal, it's not impossible to get into a public university in SA to study medicine, though it may be very competitive because SA will consider South Africans and permanent residents first, the other option will be trying a private university like Monash University, they operate in SA and Australia. Cheers! |

oduzbaba89:Was it written in a letter or stamped on the passport? |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 9:57am On May 17, 2016 |
Ademat7:Getting an asylum is immorally wrong when he is not a refugee really. It is an abuse of the system. As an asylum seeker, u can't leave SA for any reason, u can't get a good job, you are looked upon as a refugee. |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 9:58am On May 17, 2016 |
Ademat7:How do you think he can process that? Appear before the High Commission and tell what story? Complete an asylum form with which document? Kindly explain. |

@ staggerlee I was at the VFS & SAHC recently to inquire about obtaining work permit on existing study visa. I was told not possible to grant WP on SV, unless one completes his study visa. Is this true? |

Keneking:What kind of work visa? |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 10:14am On May 17, 2016 |
staggerlee:General Work Permit |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 10:23am On May 17, 2016 |
Keneking:No one will grant anyone general work permit, unless 1. You have an offer of a job. 2. You get a letter from dept of labour stating that you aren't taking a job of a SA citizen or a PR person. But dept of labour will never grant that letter it is rare. But if u have all these, then even if u are not on any visa, you can apply |

Pls I was notify by Saqa lastmonth that they mailed my sch for them to authenticate and verify my result. Went to the registra and it was sent to them now saqa said they have seen the mail on the 2nd of May, now how long would i wait now for my certificate to be ready ? And how do I get SAQA's direct contact cos have been going through an agent in SA |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 10:33am On May 17, 2016 |
staggerlee:Your point is that the general work permit is simply not possible with the documentations. If i get you, there are three types of work permit: 1. Critical Skill Work Permit 2. General Work Permit 3. Intra-company Permit How else can one get a permit to work? |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 10:37am On May 17, 2016 |
Keneking:Those are the 3 Work Permits I know |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 10:38am On May 17, 2016 |
staggerlee:So how come some of us on the forum claim to have Work Permit with Master's Study Visa...I can not understand how they succeeded. |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by muhaogunlo: 10:57am On May 17, 2016 |
Keneking:Study permit allows you to work 20hrs per week and not during holidays though I'm aware one must get a written permission from DHA to do that. I guess those that have work permit and doing masters probably applied for the critical skills work visa during their masters. Cheers! |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 12:01pm On May 17, 2016 |
Keneking:You can apply for critical skills with your study visa if u qualify |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:03pm On May 17, 2016 |
staggerlee:Staggerlee, those critical skill subjects are not within my scope ![]() |

TokyoBulls:. Thank you for your comment. Please how long will it take for saqa to evaluate my certificates. Also how do I apply to a school after my certificates have been evaluated, do I apply directly online, do I use an agent or is saqa also involved in selecting a school asides the evaluation of certificates. Thank you. |

I need some clarifications on these questions..I have lived in the RSA For almost 4years, 3years on a study Permit, and another year to and fro on, Visitors Visa, Now i wish to return back again for another study at MONASH, I have been accepted and i have paid all fees, but i was told a Police clearance is needed, is this compulsory..? Although i have my police clearance from South Africa when i first applied for my first study permit there, but i do not intend to submit my new passport along side the old one which holds my Travel History to the republic, for personal reasons. 1. where do i get a police clearance in Nigeria besides the force headquarters, Is it compulsory...? 2. How long does a police clearance take to be processed...? 3. Is it possible to use multiple Business account statement which bears my Name....? I hope to get some positive response from everyone. Thanks |

@Keneking, yes it was writtten on d paper, my passport was not Stamped, what do I do? |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 4:50am On May 18, 2016 |
eddiebruk:Only u can answer y you don't wanna put your old passport, I am sorry this sounds dodgy |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 7:27am On May 18, 2016 |
staggerlee:Like I said, it is personal |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 7:55am On May 18, 2016 |
eddiebruk:Yea I know its personal but it sounds dodgy. Some how authorities here will know from one document or the other, however cos u have lived here before u need SA police report buy since you are lying to SA embassy that u have not lived in SA before you don't, remember that Ur SAQA is linked to ur old passports and other certificates. Naija police clearance is easy to get at alagbon, no long thing. I also hope u have never done any biometrics in SA like in VFS or police station cos if u are, u are on a long thing |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 8:46am On May 18, 2016 |
staggerlee:just to Let you know, All my records in the RSA is clear, I did do biometric before I got my first permit and I still have the certificate from 2012, is it usable? I left SA last November 28th |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by staggerlee: 7:27am On May 19, 2016 |
eddiebruk:The biometric am talking about is if you did it in SA! If it was done in SA it will be linked to your old passport. So bringing in a new passport could be a bit problematic for u |
| Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:43pm On May 19, 2016 |
staggerlee:Yes i did when i got my Police clearance which i used in getting my first student permit, How is it gonna be a problem for me...? I have not broken any Immigration Laws neither have i committed any crime, I am only withholding my old passport from the new application for personal reasons as i have said. |
