VLadipo:
The rate used to draw the N86.5 pump price is the official exchange rate(N199/$1) while the rate used to draw the N145.0 pricing is the parallel market exchange rate(N320/$1).
Got it?
What some Nigerians are clamouring for now is the removal of NIMASA, landind cost charges etc to lower the pump price.
Chikena!
stop that lie. @ 199, according to kachikwu the price is about 100 naira, but at 298 they now arrived at 145. The truth is why will government use parallel rate of 298 to calculate oil price when they are using the official rate? Does it mean that theyve already devalued the naira? NNPC too are selling at 145, what happens to the 45 naira extra because NNPC cannot be saying that they got their own forex at 298 from central bank because it is an agency of the federal government. They just want to extort money from the masses.

Remove it or leave it.

I'm tired of all these half measures.

145 is the supposed 'cap' . . . it can be lesser or higher depending on:

1. Exchange rate.

2. Crude price.

Both of the above are so fluid at the moment.

This NLC had better take this offer before FG go change their mind...
Wat mind and start shooting at protesters? If all banks, MDA's, private companies, oil and sector decide to drop their tools and go home.

There is nofn dey will do.

But Nigeria is already divided along tribal and party lines. We don't av such unity to carry out such protests.

APC is pure fraud.

The last administration subsidy removal was about N110; I think the government is not communicating to Nigerians as much as they expected.___IBB 2016

This isn't right.

Let me bare an unbiased opinion about this since it appears the wailers are simply too dumb to engage on in any constructive and intelligent argument- all I've been hearing are insults and "apologise to Jonathan".

No Wailer has been able to ask one a very IMPORTANT question regarding one VERY OBVIOUS ANOMALY surrounding this whole "subsidy removal/deregulation" stuff, and that question is: if the government had earlier claimed that they subsidise petrol by about N17 per litre, then why on earth isn't fuel selling for approximately N103 per litre ( ie 86+17) as against N145 or the N120 allegedly being proposed now??

Wailers, make una try get small sense so una go fit put us, and perhaps, the government, on our toes. Throwing insults around and getting tens of likes wouldn't get you lot anywhere.

Government needs to tell us why it is 145 and not 103.
Because of the unavailability of forex nau, the independent marketers are to source for dollars @ the parallel markets, and not the official rate..... Comprehende??

Get your facts n figures right
Even at N110/litre no subsidy will b paid because it doesn't exist at d present crude oil price

I don't think that there will be strike since there are on negotiation, the price will be settled, as for the secretary of NLC please watch ur back cos i know the chane (G is silent, so that is how u pronounce it) administration will either hunt u down, dissolve or he will send his boys scout(EFCC) after u.

103 nairal is based on 197 per dollar
remember the marketers are now allow to buy dollar at 298 per dollar that is a 50% increase in landing cost
this means 103 nairal isn't feasible

I feel labour should focus more on minimum wage and the state govt that owe salaries, because a strike will bring more hardship to them unpaid workers how can they stock when they paid last about six months ago

Don't mind that Omenka, the chief of the zombified squad. He can't claim not to have seen such comments flowing in and out of front page threads regarding fuel price hike. But his fellow zombified fellows are always quick to tell you that the marketers will be sourcing for forex from other sources (and not the usual N199 pa $1) and not at the official rate so the price, N145, is the best.

So I ask, if marketers of such an important commodity (that has the capacity to cripple our economy if by any means scarce) can't source for forex at the official rate from the FG, then what's the point saying that Naira is 199 to a dollar? It means that the currency has been officially devalued. Dullhary is the most confused human being the works has ever seen.

Thank God I don't have a zombie brain tho... grin cheesy
And I also think he should be the one trying to do the bolded

I would prefer NLC fights for minimum wage increment as a check to the frequent tinkering of fuel prices in this country. Also threatening strike actions each time fuel price is increased makes them look like opportunists undecided we are tired jooooor!

Re: FG Proposes N120 Per Litre, Labour Leaders Kick by Nobody: 10:27am On May 17, 2016
If this is true, then I am disappointed in the FG. This is back to square one. I expected the FG to call the bluff of NLC by sticking to its gun. No one would take this govt serious anymore. And we should expect a resurface of queues at the filling stations.

What I expected the NLC to protest against is the inability of the govts at all level to increase the minimum wage, not fuel issue. It seems NLC is benefitting from the rot in the Oil sector, hence its constant hostility towards the govt. whenever the latter decides to deregulate that sector.

With the dwinling oil fortunes and shortage of forex to finance the critical sectors of the economy, without the oil sector being fully deregulated, we are just postponing the evil days. Our woes are just starting. We are in for a long haul!
