This is going to be the least effective strike by the NLC |

modath:We keep forgetting one thing, our inflow as a nation has drastically gone down due to fall in oil price. Compounded with reduced output as a nation. If the government is buoyant enough as we used to, the government may not even contemplate taking this decision. This is the danger of mono economy. I strongly, think in NASS should do the needful to reduce their salaries. |

Hengineer:There are other options to deal with the situation if d government considers d plight of its citizens. What of considering crude oil swap for PMS enough for d countries consumption? This can go on while our refineries r vamped up to maximum production rate; n they say other modular refineries r coming up. It's d governments to deal with, that's y they're paid bogus amounts let them do some work, but increasing d price of fuel is putting d burden on d masses. |

I SINCERELY THINK THAT THESE "UPRISINGS" ARE PART OF PROCESSES TO THE MUCH ANTICIPATED CHANGE. I SHALL QUOTE A POPULAR THOUGHT FROM THE GOOD BOOK WHICH SAYS "AFTER HARDSHIP, COMES EASE" SURAH INSHIRAH. WE JUST DO NOT SEE THE FACT THAT OTHER COUNTRIES THAT WITNESSED TRANSITION (OR REVOLUTION IF YOU LIKE) WENT THROUGH BLOOD BATHS AND EVEN WORSE. OURS IS SIMPLY ECONOMICAL AND SOCIAL CRISIS CAUSING A STIR IN THE TIDE. I THINK WE SHOULD STAND WITH THE GOVERNMENT TO HELP IT TO HELP ITS POPULACE. THESE ARE SIGNS OF GOOD THINGS TO COME. THE MORE WE EMBRACE THE TEST FROM THE ALMIGHTY, THE MORE BLESSING WOULD FOLLOW. STOP THE HATE AND STOP THE BLAME. HAVE YOU SATISFIED YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY, HOW MUCH MORE A NATION, COULD YOU HAVE DONE BETTER AS A PRESIDENT? I AM NOT ENJOYING THE SITUATION, BUT IF IT AFFECTS EVERYONE THEN AM NOT AN EXCEPTION. #ISTANDWITHBUHARI |

omenka:The answer to your question is quite simple and should be obvious. In addition to the N17 (subsidy) which the govt just stopped paying, marketers who hitherto got forex at the official rate of N197-N200 would now have to get their forex at ~N285-N300; this over 50% difference in exchange rate explains why it shot up to N145 instead of N103. |

Why is this government full of contradictions why agree to a reduction of 25 naira when U claim subsidy has been removed. The government is only clever by half increasing the price of PMS in the name of removal of subsidy. Can anything good come out of this government? |

madridguy:How would this salary increment benefit those of us in the private sector? The best government can do is to provide palliatives before yanking off the subsidy. I listened to Lair Mohammed yesterday with utmost dismay when he mentioned that one of the palliatives provided by the govt. is the setting aside of 500 billion naira for special intervention fund through which school children would be fed. I really laf at the empty head minister we have. Govt. should should give us 24 hours light before removing the subsidy thats the only way to caution its effect not salary increment. |

VLadipo:Where is NNPC sourcing their own dollar. CBN OR Parallel market? If CBN then y are they selling at same price 135 to N145 with individuals that got dollars at black market? Even some nnpc fuel refined locally. Why selling at high price again. |

omenka:Subsidy is not the only reason for the hike in pump price, but the unavailability of forex for fuel importers, even at the 145naira it is not sustainable, because a dollar is above 320 now at the parallel market,so expect higher pump price as soon as the present products imported by these marketers get exhausted. However,it has been predicted that a litre of fuel ll rise above 243/litre...may God help us all..amen |

omenka:Kachikwu explained this on sunrise daily last week. There's a band of around 135-145naira per litre that PMS is expected to sell at. The maximum is 145/litre, and he hopes competition will drive down prices in months time. He said NNPC will not be selling at low prices in the cities to help competition and eliminate queues. He gave instances where Nigerians will rather queue for NNPC 86.5 when others were selling at 87. So to eliminate queues, NNPC will not sell cheaper than others but watch the market and adjust accordingly. https://youtube.com/watch?v=yIMVas14HD8&itct=CCcQpDAYASITCLm05_OJ4cwCFc2ZfgodImUDVlIiS2FjaGlrd3Ugc3BlYWsgb24gbmV3IHBldHJvbCBwcmljZQ%3D%3D&hl=en&gl=NG&client=mv-google https://youtube.com/watch?v=tRO2-FTIL84&itct=CCkQpDAYACITCLm05_OJ4cwCFc2ZfgodImUDVlIiS2FjaGlrd3Ugc3BlYWsgb24gbmV3IHBldHJvbCBwcmljZQ%3D%3D&hl=en&gl=NG&client=mv-google |

omenka:The last time I checked, Government used instruments that made subsidy disappear as at Dec 2015, by Feb 2016, FG was making OVER RECOVERIES (opposite of subsidy), the right questions are; 1) What instrument was used to ensure the disappearance of subsidy that led to over recovery? 2)Between dec 2015 and feb 2016, crude price remained low, how did we get to the point where marketers have to burden us with forex differential (subsidy)? what happened to the instrument of Dec 2015? Kachikwu should stop lying and tell Nigerians the truth!! |

Johnsown1:Do you know that the Genesis of this increment is a fall out of what the Avengers are doing in the creek? The truth will come out in the following weeks, why haven't they (the people you are sympathizing with) fought back at the very least, in condemnation? When Boko went to the north, the same northerners we said were educationally less privileged had the sense to mobilize civilian JTF to fight boko haram, where are the civilian JTF hunting the Avengers? you see bro, life is all about actions, inactions and consequences, when the people you are urging us to sympathize with are serious, we will know, for now, it is not that bad. Government said they have no money to pay for subsidy, oil price went down by 80%, the gov has been borrowing for projects, as if that wasn't enough, Nigerians like you and i went to create a new problem for all of us by cutting production, how is that right? Are you aware that Nigerian production cut is pushing up the global oil price? check the trend to understand what those !diots are doing. I have said it countless times, when your leaders steal your common wealth, protest against them, sit on their gates, that way, you will remind him your salary is 15k. The number of unemployed youths in this country is enough to spark a revolution that will deal with our corrupt leaders once and for all, the question is where are they? it is not enough telling us they earn 15k when the consequences of their (politicians) actions materialize, even the little Mr president is doing, is he getting accolades from the 15k earning Nigerians? Are they not the same people shouting "bring back our corruption" on Facebook? are they not the same people saying that Dasuki, Metu and saraki's trial are witch hunt? The money has been stolen, govt is broke, both of us will just have to suffer it, if your salary is 15k, take heart bro. |

Government should even put VAT on the price of fuel....something like 10%. In UK I pay about N530 naira for a litre of fuel. Lazy Nigerians with two cars should know what is takes to rock like a big boy. |

| Re: FG Proposes N120 Per Litre, Labour Leaders Kick by intruder15(m): 6:06pm On May 17, 2016 |
omenka:its 145 because of d exchange rate. They say a dollar is #200 yet nobody can get it at dat price. So, since last yr, no individual marketer is importing fuel cuz there is no dollar to purchase at d official #200 mark. dats y. The federal govt told dem to source forex at any place including d black market at an exchange rate of #298 to a dollar. Dats d main reason why its 145 instead of (86 + 25)... |
