[quote author=francisbarrack post=45745913]Most Nigerians don't realise we've been living in The Matrix. This subsidy removal is the red pill that may wake us up to reality.
We are poor. We are broke. We've been raped, pillaged, looted and left for dead.
All these years our economy has been sustained on the junk food of corruption. We have kwashiorkor but because we look chubby we think we are healthy.
Those two bedrooms in Abuja going for N700 million. Those make up artists charging 500k and pre-wedding photo shoots for 700k. Aso ebi for 90k. Buying Rolexes and Ferraris. Range Rover Sport all over Lagos like keke napep.
It is all fake. It's all a mirage. We've all been living off the spoils of corruption. That's why the country is so hard now. No money circulating. Because no money to steal and rent flats and shops for girlfriends. For civil servants to pay bogus tithes of N500k. For senators to spray dollars at their daughters' weddings. For lagos big boys to spend N2m every Friday night at nightclubs.
It's time to face reality. The party is over. Now we may see the real Nigeria and Nigerians.
Now that money will go into our roads and bridges and hospitals. It will benefit those who don't have a rich corrupt uncle with connections in oil and gas. Those who can't travel to Dubai to celebrate birthdays. Those who don't know what Coldstone ice cream tastes like.
Hopefully the real estate markets will crash. The thieves with 15 houses in abuja will be forced to sell them fast for cash. I would prefer if EFCC seized and auctioned them, though.
All those in the service industry will have to revaluate their pricing. You can't charge 500k to paint faces anymore; free money don finish.
Welcome to the real world.
Have to login because of this post.
This is the truth undiluted.

The government has repeatedly told you that they did not remove subsidy. But rather did fuel price modulation/adjustment .

You are still here shouting "No going back on fuel subsidy removal"

If that is the case why this government likes to feed people with lies, thinking they are destined for deception and suffering? If a price adjustment can be inflated like that this country might have crashed economically.

Welcome to the real world
on the surface u have a point but real truth is it is just crap and bull shit..it seems to u and your ilk with very low mentality ..you are needing the rich..
Alibaba is worth billions ..I don't think is due to illegal wealth...that is also true of many of our musicians and other entertainers..stop all these beefing...it is a poverty mentality
one of the way to grow our economy is when you diversify...people should know that whatever they do can. fetch them income to extent of being wealthy..not until they work in an office ...
the real problem with PmB govt is witch hunting and medieval economic policy which is not favorable to investors...tell me why our stock market c collapsed? do u know what that means?
ask yourself..why are investors running away?
if his policies are good , investors will come in because we have a vast market..
my friend , it is better for a businessman to have 1bn dollars than for govt to have 1 bn dollars..u know why? because the businessman can turn that 1bn dollars to 10 and provide jobs..with good Pvt it will only go on an expense and will not give birth..
also know that govt has no business in businesses..let the entrepreneurs and professionals do business but govt to provide enabling environment
with your low mind set, you can know we are on long thing..
I will ask you ..who owns Chevron's? who own Man united FC ? Barcelona etc is it their govt or business men?
but lemme ask you who owns enyimba, Kano pillars,Dolphina fc etc.can you see the difference
can you see why we are in deep poo?

Man of the people, the might of the Nigerian masses is behind you and one with majority is one with God. We pray you wont be swept away by corruption like others. If a government that came to power in the good wishes and mandate of Nigerians have turned back to pay us back with this wicked and evil pill, then we should spare no chance in dealing ruthlessly with a wicked inhumane govt.

Since they came to power they have not done anything for the masses to show love instead its darkness, unemployment, ethnic division, uncaring, wastefulness, jamboree trips by ministers and president, unwarranted show of affluence in the midst of harsh economy, siphoning of funds and above all the last straw which is the unbriddled removal of fuel subsidy.

I pray we use this strike to get rid of this rubbish called change. Instead of change into a young technocentric govt wee changing into an old wasted bunch of desperate power seekers who are living dead carcasses who have nothing to offer.
Yes they have nothing to loose either, if they die now they will simply use us to bury their dead carcass. They are wasted, they have lived their lives and they want to live our lives again for us. They should 'gerraway' for young viable, innovative, creative and dynamic young men to handle the affairs of this country. Those who are not yet expired, those burning with hot ideas, those pained by our backwardness who want to leapfrog us into the the techy age just like India and China. Those who realise that Nigeria is home for all and we must make our home comfortable like in the western countries. Not useless idiots that will be telling you stories how things were in 1983 when they were soldiers.

We need leaders who will be able to blend with the likes of great leaders like Cameron, Obama, Putin, and the rest and not leaders who dont understand English, anything they say he will say yes even when they tell him is it true you are fantastically corrupt.

We need a true CHANGE into a new Nigeria and not a change into backwardness and the era of living deads bereft of ideas.

Please let us not criticize the NLC even if you don't fully support them. I am in favor of deregulation but this approach is very bad. Why can't government take 6 billion dollars and buy modular refinery for each oil producing state. It cost around 100million dollars to buy one. Then fix the unending renovation of the old one by selling them to private sector (Big firms with plenty money). Let the modular refineries be treated as a public private ventures. Provide PMS first. Curb importation and even export to make hard currencies Mostly to our Neigbours in west Africa. Then give naira it's true value and deregulate totally. Buhari has tried for a year to fix the refineries but it's like somebody goes there to remove a vital bolt after every turnaround maintenance.
This tyrannical and sudden approach is not nice.
Fashola begged us to allow increase in tariffs and since then no electricity. Why won't you think out of the box. It is so sad that NIGERIA still depend solely on those long pipelines which can never be secured to produce electricity. I guess our leaders are a bit lazy apart from us ( Nigerians) lacking sense of patriotism. Please contribute positively and wisely to the country.

Wealthgang:
Negotiating with d FG on increment of minimum wage is d best move, not strike.
NLC has to understand that d fuel price hike is a necessity, not some kinda punishment d govt just feels like giving to us. It has notin to do with subsidy removal but simply LACK OF FOREX.
Ok let's say that d FG suddenly reverses pump price to N86.5. Marketers still won't get forex for importatn from CBN because there's no money. They're still gonna source for it at unofficial rates and WON'T sell at that N86.5 because they'll be making losses. So fuel will still be scarce n we'll still queue to buy at N180-300.
Forex reserves have been depleted and int'l price of oil has slumped.

Total deregulatn is our last hope.

Btw, where was NLC when workers were being owed for months w/o pay?

Wat r u saying?

Stop the sentimental accusations, PDP tenure stole everything but u never complained about the economy. Until APC started using PDP failures for easy landing, nobody ever accused them as it is now, it was either he's not forceful or not having the right hands. Every party or leader meant well they only just miss the mark. Who told u that GEJ's subsidy removal was for selfish interest? So, let's wait till the end of this govt before we conclude on their integrity.
