Speakdatruth:Not really smart, will you have the military to guard your house 24/7 after completion of your project? |

DONMAYOR19:I fail to see the logic of this: If thief-nubu is the kingpin of the Omo-Onile system as you alluded to, then Ambode Government will not be making a law to arrest their activities, shey? I believe Ambode is Tinubu's man!? |

Lagos can never lay claim to being a civilsed ci ty and is not prepared to advance beyond the 21st century if it cannot deal decisively with the menace of economic pirates namely: 'Omonile', Transport (air, sea and land) touts, copyright infringers, etc. The omonile one is the worst because it affects the inflow of investment funds to the State, a cancer that has to stop. Rivers State had a similar if not worse problem before the Amaechi era and he succesfully wiped it out. It led to an unprecedented expansion of the city and deepening of development. Such is the case that even with an entirely new grassroots government there are no signs the menace is back. Lagos just has to do something to clean up that image. I have personally had experiences on two fronts, the additional costs on my projects and the embarassment of explaining to overseas clients these 'sundry undocumentable costs'. |

HomoDroid:Sir, don't mind him, by their post we shall know them, they promote errors of South Westerners and at the same time down play their achievements. Unfortunately for them, the agbero menace is springing up now everywhere in Nigeria from north to south, east to west. |

Mehn, they should be quick about this. Imagine where someone wants to build a bungalow worth 3million but u'll realise b4 u place foundation u'd have spent close to 5million because of these thugs That's why i'm just tired of that state. I so much hate those guys eh. When i'm ready to build mine, i dont mind paying any amount to involve the military |

They are still considering the bill in this age & time? So much for the centre of excellence! I dont know why my brothers will continue to risk their hard earned resources trying to buy land in Lagos when Owerri is there for them to invest in without much stress. Wether for private abode or commercial estate, the ROI in Owerri is almost the same! New Owerri is very much comparable to Lekki in terms ofaesthetics, goods roads, nice apartments, well cut flowers & lawns etc. Lagos is just an urban jungle were life is very stressful! |

Speakdatruth:What rank is your brother in the Military? Omo-Onile nowadays so influential that most CO's in the community knows them so well and they run the rackets together even your brother in the military might end getting arrested by the MP's |

That's how they came to one of our sites in lekki, and they were asking who gave us permission to be building on the site not knowing that the site belonged to the king of Ikota, that's how we called the king and he told all of them to come to his farm, the lazy idiots just left one by one cos they know if they go there.......they'll have an army waiting for them. I hope the law is really enforced |

I think it's high time the government through the states waded into this issue. It is as simple as no land must be sold without the government's assent. Leave certificate of occupancy aside for now. The government must assent to the sale. I.e land sale agreements must be tripartite. This will ensure that: 1. Only real owners sell lands. 2. Government is able to ensure strict compliance to city masterplan. Lands are only used for the purpose they were originally listed for. No sale of setbacks and government acquired lands to innocent citizens. 3. Government generates employment by engaging IT professionals who'd design and implement a system of verification. Verification officers will also be employed to carry out the verification itself. 4. Government can generate revenue by charging a 1-5% fee for its services and also collect tax. Having done all these, it becomes criminal for anyone to harass you on your land. A legislation should back it up. You simply invite the police. The long-winded C of O procurement process is an issue for another day. |

This is a good strategy - placing military signs on your land. It is more effective in outskirts areas of Lagos like Ikorodu compared to other places like Lekki. Imagine these Guys encroaching General Theophillus Danjuma lands in Ajah? Speakdatruth: |

I would not argue on New Owerri beating Lekki in terms of Aesthetics and Infrastructure but not in property appreciation. Lekki axis is the fastest growing area in West Africa which has led to unprecedented price growth over the years. I agree on the stress level involved though when buying land in Lagos. proeast: |

BrainnewsNg:@BrainnewsNg - I don't think it's good news as the N300,000 fine is paltry compared to the havoc these Omo Onile cause. Would it really deter them particularly when dealing with a Land/Property worth several millions (or billions)? |
| Re: The End Of Omo Onile In Lagos? by TOPCRUISE(m): 1:30pm On May 19, 2016 |
Speakdatruth:THAT WONT WORK. IT WILL EVEN INVOKE THEM THE MORE. SOMEBODY THAT TRIED THAT SOMEWHERE IN NEIGHBORHOOD GOT MORE THAN WHAT HE BARGAINED FOR. AFTER HE COMPLETED HIS DETACHED DUPLEX, THE THUGS ENTERED HIS HOUSE UNINVITED AND HAD FUN WITH HIS WIFE RIGHT IN HIS PRESCENCE AS, PAYMENT FOR THE OMONILE FEE HE REFUSED TO PAY. ANOTHER HAD HIS LOUVRES AND WINDOWS DESTROYED AT NIGHT FOR EMPLOYING THE SERVICES OF SOLDIERS TO MONITOR HIS CONSTRUCTION WORK FROM START TO FINISH |
| Re: The End Of Omo Onile In Lagos? by proeast(m): 3:37pm On May 19, 2016 |
phoenix480:Yes, I quite agree that Lekki will fetch higher rent but the difference with new Owerri is not worth the risk involved in buying the land, the high cost of biulding in a place Lagos, the waterlogged nature of the place that might cost a lot remedy & the excessive taxation in Lagos. |
