PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER Let us reason together. Before, under President Goodluck Jonathan's Administration, they were quiet. Because they were either part of the government or they were hugely settled.Immediately power changed hands and President Buhari Government came to being IPOB resurrected and said that they don't want to belong to Nigeria again. They created a map of would-be states of Biafra made up of current SE and SS states of Nigeria. One thing led to the other. Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and Tompolo was declared wanted. And there are reports in media that Goodluck Jonathan may be arrested. Then ugly things began to emerge: 1. Niger Delta Avengers surfaced, carried out acts of sabotage on the region’s oil blocs in an effort to cripple Nigeria’s economy and demanded among other things the unconditional release of Radio Biafra director and Independent(sic) Indigenous Peoples of Biafra leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. 2. While we were still trying to unravel the Niger Delta Avengers, another militant group surfaced: The Red Egbesu Water Lions. They are bolder and less dishonest. Yesterday, they blew up pipelines. They claim association with Avengers and IPOB, want Tompolo's account de-freezed, Nnamdi Kanu and Dasuki released. Now putting the pieces together, everything is now beginning to make sense: IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Sambo Dasuki, Niger Delta Militant and the PDP are all connected in this act of economic sabotage. Today in the media, the PDP is demanding the unconditional release of their members arrested by the EFCC! Too many coincidences I would say. For those who are still wondering why the Government should not release both Kanu and Dasuki the reason is simple: they have become a national risk! I pity the South South region. It seems people never learn from history. The same mistake that were made in the North East are being made currently in the South South. In attempt to attack the Government by blowing up pipelines and gas tanks they are attacking the people, destroying the lands and the environment. And while all these are going on, the South South and the South East leaders have largely kept quiet. And the few times they they spoke, they say, "Government should not crush the militant saboteurs but negotiate with them." The same mistake that was made by the Northern leaders in respect of Boko Haram! Is the deaths in the North East region not enough lesson to learn from? Is the wanton destruction of properties and livelihood in the North East region not enough lesson to learn from? All I see is North East is loading in the South South. IPOB are playing the destruction game. It's like, "If Biafra will not come to being then Nigeria will not live to be." And they seem to have form an accord with a willing partner in militants in the Niger Delta. Since militancy is now a wasp perched on a swollen scrotum, it's high time the Government declares a state of emergency in the Niger Delta region, the sort of emergency we had in the Northeast. Because no responsible government negotiate with economic saboteurs. If you do, you will forever be at their beck and call. God bless Nigeria. Op let me correct your ignorance.... NE is not SS and can never be compared. As one is oil rich and country dependent. SS is a Niger delta region that houses the commercial oil resources while NE have none Northeast houses terrorist who are enemies of the people, they destroy lives and not natural resources such as oil. While SS do not. So the both don't tally... That state of emergency is working in NE, doesn't mean it will work in SS. Or do you think that the oil companies generating revenue for the federal government in the SS will be comfortable having military all around them? They can not do their business. And instituting state of emergency in SS is also instituting state of emergency on Nigerian economy as Nigeria as a country will have the most burnt. This will affect the common man in kano, borno, and will also affect the common man in lagos, Ogun and other places in the country... But this is not so in the NE, the state of emergency in the NE didn't affect the economy, it was in GEJs era that Nigeria became the largest economy in Africa and the seventh highest growing economy in the world, even when the bokoharam activities was in its prime. It didn't affect all Nigerians directly. Conclusion : op, the two cases you used in your case study is not comparable. So telling us to learn from NE and apply it to SS won't work as both are incomparable. |
